La fecha fue elegida en 1988 por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y las Naciones Unidas para que los países pudieran unificar esfuerzos en la respuesta global a la epidemia. En este episodio, presentamos la grabación de un panel de tres participantes en diferentes podcasts que ya hemos publicado. El panel fue parte de la conferencia Alianza que se llevó a cabo el 2 de septiembre del 2025 en Los Ángeles CA. La conferencia Alianza se creó en Los Ángeles California, el punto más álgido de la epidemia de VIH/SIDA en Estados Unidos. El Caucus Latino del Condado de Los Ángeles sobre VIH y SIDA, formado por varias agencias de servicios latinos, se unieron para crear la primera conferencia de pacientes latinos de su tipo. Una conferencia monolingüe en español destinada a proporcionar educación sobre una amplia gama de temas asociados con el VIH/SIDA. Hoy es el Día Mundial de la Lucha contra el Sida. Cada año se diagnostican en España aproximadamente unos 3.300 casos nuevos del virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana. Repasamos con Luis Vallés cómo han avanzado los tratamientos a través de la historia de Iván que, desde que nació en 1991, tiene VIH. Actualmente es activista y psicólogo y ayuda a apaciguar los miedos de los nuevos enfermos y se dedica a dar esperanza y erradicar el estigma sobre la enfermedad.En RNE, Bonaventura Clotet, director de IrsiCaixa y presidente de la Fundación Lucha contra las Infecciones, apunta que erradicarlo del cuerpo: "Lo más importante es que se ha conseguido cronificar la enfermedad. Las personas que están infectadas, si toman correctamente el tratamiento, tienen una esperanza de vida normal y no transmiten el virus en sus relaciones sexuales. Eliminarlo del cuerpo se ha conseguido en unos pocos casos a través de tratamientos muy sofisticados y que tienen riesgo", apunta el doctor. "Se está luchando. Creo que llegaremos a poder ofrecer esta posibilidad de que la persona erradique del cuerpo el virus", añade.
