The Sustainable Land Imaging (SLI) Program is a collaboration between the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Department of the Interior (DOI)/United States Geological Survey (USGS) to ensure the continuation of no-cost, high-quality, and global land-imaging measurements compatible with the existing Landsat record dating back to 1972. This talk provides an overview of the development of data science methods at USGS to advance the utility of the Landsat data archive needed to explain, model, and ultimately forecast changes to the Earth's land surface in support of decision-making for societal benefit. The availability of Landsat Analysis Ready Data (ARD) released in 2017 by the USGS over the United States facilitated the development of time-series products as demonstrated through the USGS Land Change Monitoring, Assessment, and Projection (LCMAP) initiative. A long-term objective is to develop a strategic framework for leveraging multiple Earth observing space systems collectively via harmonized observations, together with data science methodology as part of an open global land imaging and science capability. Pete Doucette, Ph.D. is acting director of USGS's Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center and gives a incredible overview of Landsat. Listen in to find out more. JAZZ INTERVIEW mardi et vendredi à 12h15. Cette semaine, Julie Gabrielle Chaizemartin et Frèd Blanc rencontrent Bruno Angelini, musicien sensible porteur de nombreux projets de jazz, en leader ou en sideman, également engagé autour de propositions artistiques mêlant le théâtre et le cinéma. Le pianiste revient sur son parcours riche en rencontres et en inspirations et nous parle en particulier de son dernier album, Open Land, qui séduit par son atmosphère musicale sereine et poétique. 

Depuis quelques années Joshua Abrams fait vivre le groupe « Natural Information Society » dont chaque album est plébiscité par la critique. Construite autour du gumbri, un instrument traditionnel marocain et autour d’une certaine idée du minimalisme dans le jazz, la musique de Natural Information Society développe une voix nouvelle. Après avoir collaboré avec les plus grands noms du jazz de Chicago comme Hamid Drake, Fred Anderson, Nicole Mitchell, Ernest Dawkins, David Boykin ou Rob Mazurek; Joshua Abrams impose donc sa propre esthétique et sa conception du jazz. Nous l’avons rencontré il y a quelques semaines à l’occasion de son passage au festival Banlieues Bleues, on vous invite à partager cette conversation. Bridgette, fellow residents and nonprofits have until June 15th to close a $15M gap to help the town secure the land and conserve it. Bridgette's passion for Bonanza Flats comes at a time when public land in the United States is at risk. Currently, twenty-two National Monuments are under review by our Secretary of the Interior. These lands are over 100,000 acres - 10x the size of Bonanza Flats - yet when Bridgette approached us with her city's fundraising effort, it crystallized a reality: work is being done at a local level to protect land.
