Together, Nicki and Joanne explore why open, honest conversations matter more than ever—especially when it comes to tough topics like online content, gaming habits, and screen time battles at home. They dive into real-life parenting struggles, like what to do when you're not on the same page with your partner, how to stay connected to your kids in a digital world, and why community support is key when navigating this new tech terrain. This is a powerful conversation for anyone who's ever wondered: Am I doing enough? Am I doing it right? (Spoiler: You're not alone.)Connect with Joanne here.Joanne Doucette is a therapist, speaker, and advocate for family mental health, with 25 years of experience helping children, teens, and their parents navigate life's toughest challenges. Rooted in a no-blame, deeply compassionate approach, she helps families strengthen connection, resilience, and healing. She challenges the societal forces that undermine parent-child relationships—such as the unregulated influence of technology—advocating for changes that protect children's well-being. Through therapy, workshops, and community education, she empowers parents to navigate these pressures while staying grounded in what matters most: their connection with their child. As both a therapist and a mother of two, with 20 years of parenting experience, Joanne understands firsthand the challenges families face. She is dedicated to ensuring parents feel supported, not judged, and offers hope, practical strategies, and a path forward—helping families create a healthier, more connected future at home and in their communities.

Madison Doucette is a 2x World Champion with Team USA and a current pro lacrosse player for the New York Charging. She recently set a record in sixes lacrosse for the most saves made in a championship series game and holds the saves per game record at both Northwestern and Johns Hopkins, where she played collegiately. However, her first love was hockey, and her father was her coach. While her dad expected a lot from all his players, he made sure he was composed, consistent and always checked in. As such, Madison never dreaded the ride home and embodies many of her father's traits in own athletic career. Even though she is the player to represent the US in all three disciplines of lacrosse, which demands variability, she created a process that she can replicate and a mindset that allows her to believe that “the only thing going in the net is her.” As a currently student manager, she has combined her father's coaching style with her experience as a player to take the perspective and approach of consistency, transparence and gratitude. As she plainly states, “I am just here for the vibes!” @_madisondoucette

Generations of social scientists and historians have argued that the escape from empire and consequent fragmentation of power - across and within polities - was a necessary condition for the European development of the modern territorial state, modern representative democracy, and modern levels of prosperity. The Catholic Church and European State Formation, AD 1000-1500 (Oxford UP, 2022) inserts the Catholic Church as the main engine of this persistent international and domestic power pluralism, which has moulded European state-formation for almost a millennium. The 'crisis of church and state' that began in the second half of the eleventh century is argued here as having fundamentally reshaped European patterns of state formation and regime change. It did so by doing away with the norm in historical societies - sacral monarchy - and by consolidating the two great balancing acts European state builders have been engaged in since the eleventh century: against strong social groups and against each other. The book traces the roots of this crisis to a large-scale breakdown of public authority in the Latin West, which began in the ninth century, and which at one and the same time incentivised and permitted a religious reform movement to radically transform the Catholic Church in the period from the late tenth century onwards. Drawing on a unique dataset of towns, parliaments, and ecclesiastical institutions such as bishoprics and monasteries, the book documents how this church reform movement was crucial for the development and spread of self-government (the internal balancing act) and the weakening of the Holy Roman Empire (the external balancing act) in the period AD 1000-1500. Jørgen Møller, Professor, Department of Political Science, Aarhus University, and Jonathan Stavnskær Doucette, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Aarhus University Morteza Hajizadeh is a Ph.D. graduate in English from the University of Auckland in New Zealand. Did Yoon Suk Yeol want to institute a dictatorship? Did he want to militarise all of society, or only politics? How "unreconstructed" is the South Korean right? Do they dream of dicatorship? What was the Park Chung-hee regime of the 60s and 70s like? What is authoritarian developmentalism? Why did S. Korea democratise? Did the workers win it or did elites concede it? Sarah Doucette - Uncovering The TruthAugust 14This memoir is an inspirational yet harrowing story of a domestic violence victim's search for the truth about her marriage. Twenty-one-year-old Sarah Doucette married a charming, gregarious and attentive man. Six years later, she left the marriage, lucky to be alive. Suffering from PTSD and dissociation after years of physical and emotional abuse, Sarah could barely remember the details of her marriage. After her ex-husband's death by suicide, Sarah set out to interview those who knew him, piecing together the destructive patterns in his life and how it affected her even years later. This book is a cautionary tale about trusting one's inner voice in order to leave an abusive relationship. It is a story of domestic abuse survival that can help others survive their trauma while outlining the many kinds of domestic abuse.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

What YOU NEED to KNOW: https://youtu.be/SsDJZMlM1ko The UNEXPECTED Ozempic Weight Loss Body Scan Results (DEXA): https://youtu.be/C_Z7qPVRA5M Coach, bodybuilder, and powerlifter Greg Doucette published a video on his Youtube channel discussing what he sees as the shortcomings of DEXA scans and why DEXA scans are not, in his opinion, the gold standard of body composition measurement. He bases his views on personal experience as well as his interpretation of a 2019 study that examined how closely DEXA and MRI measurements correlate. In this episode, Matt reacts to Greg's video and presents his own opinion about the validity of DEXA scan measurements. Together with Nick, he discusses what DEXA scans do and don't measure, potential sources of inaccuracy in DEXA scans, honest interpretations of scientific literature, and more. A DEXA (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) scan is an advanced imaging procedure for measuring bone density and composition. DEXA scans utilize two different energy levels of low-dose X-ray beams—one absorbed mostly by soft tissue, and the other absorbed mainly by bone—to differentiate between bone, fat, and lean tissue. In so doing, they provide noninvasive and detailed information about bone health, risk of osteoporosis or fractures, and body composition. While medical practitioners typically perform DEXA scans on the lower spine and hips, they can also perform DEXA scans on the whole body for the purposes of early detection and intervention. ROOTFIX Supplement - visit rootfixstore.com, use code PODCAST10 to get 10 percent off your order In this episode of the Grassroots FM Podcast, Seth Osgood sits down with chiropractor and zero balancing expert, Dr. Michele Doucette, to delve into the transformative touch therapy known as zero balancing. Developed in the mid-1970s by Dr. Fritz Smith, zero balancing incorporates elements of Western medicine and Eastern practices to address both physical and emotional traumas trapped within the body. Dr. Doucette explains how these traumas, both significant and seemingly minor, can manifest in physical ailments and chronic conditions. She also elucidates the role of zero balancing in releasing these patterns of tension and fostering a holistic union of body, mind, and spirit. Throughout the session, listeners will learn about the intricate connection between our physical structure and our energetic state, and how zero balancing can be a pivotal element in pursuit of comprehensive health and healing. Tune in to explore how addressing deep-rooted traumas can lead to profound changes in your overall wellbeing. In this episode, Seth and Dr. Doucette discuss: The Science Behind Zero Balancing Practical Aspects and Benefits of Zero Balancing Sessions and Client Involvement  Broader Implications and Personal Perspectives Dr. Doucette's Daily Practice tip:  Curiosity - Be curious about how you can incorporate wellness and health into your life.   More About Dr. Michele Doucette and Her Work Check out Dr. Doucette's upcoming classes Visit Dr. Doucette's website  Sign up for a Zero Balancing Class  Email Dr. Doucette - dones@saver.net Purchase Dr. Coucette's book Walking to Eden  Find A Practitioner: ZeroBalancing.com I have been studying human health and well-being for almost 40 years, and I am happy to report I still have more questions than answers!   The mysterious capacity of  human beings to express life, to heal, to grow, to awaken, and to evolve completely fascinates me.  Using my hands, my heart, and my mind to facilitate healing is a true privilege and I am grateful for every patient and every student I have the opportunity to work with.    I began my higher education with a degree in biochemistry.  While working in the field of medical diagnostic research and development, I looked into a test tube one day and realized I would not find the answers to my queries about life and humanity therein.  I had to work with actual people, their bodies, minds, and spirits. Studying chiropractic at Los Angeles College of Chiropractic gave me an excellent medical education, and the skills to amplify the natural healing ability of the body through spinal evaluation and adjustment.  I augmented that education with specialized training in the Gonstead Chiropractic Technique which involves in-depth bio-mechanical analysis and specific, directional adjusting techniques for optimum effectiveness and efficiency of healing.  I started my chiropractic practice in 1990 and soon thereafter began to study Zero Balancing as well.  Zero Balancing is a unique, hands-on, bodywork system of healing.  It combines the Western view of medicine and science from the field of osteopathy with Eastern concepts of energy and healing from the field of acupuncture.  ZB affects the whole person (body, mind, and spirit) by providing both structural therapy and energy medicine simultaneously, and thereby accessing the body's “interoceptive” mechanism of conscious awareness, self-referencing, and physical, as well as psychoemotional, resilience.  It is life changing for patient and practitioner.  One of my strongest passions is teaching Zero Balancing to other healthcare providers and anyone who wants to learn about the power of conscious touch and energy medicine.  I am on the faculty of the Zero Balancing Health Association and teach classes internationally.    Connect with Dr. Seth Osgood To learn more about Dr. Seth Osgood and the GrassRoots Adaptation Program, head over to www.grassrootsfunctionalmedicine.com Join the GrassRoots Facebook community at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/grassrootsfuntionalmedicine

Hosted by Chris Beckett & Shane Ludtke, two amateur astronomers in Saskatchewan. actualastronomy@gmail.com   Bio: Tim Doucette Tim believes that through education and awareness of the Universe, the world can become a better place. Through his passion for Astronomy and his photography, Tim shows us the beauty of the heavens. He was born blind with congenital cataracts. Later these cataracts were surgically removed along with the lenses of his eyes, Tim's unique eye condition leaves him legally blind but able to perceive colors in the Universe through a telescope that very few others can see.   Shortly after joining the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Tim discovered his unique eye condition. He set up an observatory in Moncton, New Brunswick where he found a love for sharing the night sky with others.   He and his family currently reside in his hometown of Quinan, NS and own and operate a successful astro tourism business. Working with the municipality and the Starlight Foundation (backed by UNESCO and the IAU), the area has received the first “Starlight Tourist Destination and Reserve” designation in North America.   https://www.deepskyeye.com/   * Welcome to the show Tim! * How did you get into astronomy?
