Howdy, you BEAUTIFUL SOUL!!!Two ChipChat Episodes in one week?!!Yes, I promised that--and I delivered that to you.My friend, today we're talking all about the concept of The Hero's Journey and specifically YOUR Hero's Journey. It's a concept coined by a magnificent human being named Joseph Campbell, and it's the story thread that runs through all great tales of humankind. It's the Call to Adventure, the Mentor, the Facing of the Dragon, and the Return with the Treasure. And more importantly than that, it's a way to think of our own lives. Here is an article I wrote all about The Hero's Journey to better understand it. "This Concept Alone Determines a Great Life..." by (ahem) Chip Franks. And HERE is the MOVIE about The Hero's Journey written, directed, and produced by Patrick Solomon...MY FAVORITE MOVIE EVER (often playing on my laptop while I do work on it)...FINDING JOE!In this solo Chip-isode, we talk about how I discovered The Hero's Journey, what it is, a little about my current Hero's Journey and the serendipitous way in how that came about--which involved this very podcast and my conversation with amazing human and billionaire Naveen Jain. What I didn't mention in this podcast is that the school I'm starting, The Imagine Academy was named due to that being Naveen's favorite word, "IMAGINE."There are so many possibilities with that word!It evokes hope, dreams, innovation, ways to make things BETTER for us all. Then we talk about YOU, and YOUR Hero's Journey...which is the most important thing. I'd love for this ChipChat to get you to think of your OWN life and the Hero's Journey that you may be on now--or that you may want to search for.The suggested exercises for this are to:Watch Finding Joe.Read the Article.(optional) Order and listen to "The Power of Myth" by Joseph Campbell and Bill MoyersHere are two questions I'd recommend to help find the Call to Adventure for your own Hero's Journey...write these out in a journal and spend some of the very best time you ever could in thinking about these:1. What did you want to be as a child? There are probably some clues there for your Hero's Journey.and2. What would you do if you had a billion dollars in the bank and didn't need to concern yourself with money?Think about those, and let me know what you're doing with your Hero's Journey! As always, I welcome all feedback at c@chipfranks.comYOU ARE LOVED AND DESERVING!Chip ❤️
Joseph Campbell's work in comparative mythology and religion unveiled a common story found across all faiths and beliefs which he called 'The Hero's Journey'. This, and a life altering experience with LSD in Hollywood is what lead Patrick Solomon to discovering his life's purpose as a film director.Watch Finding Joe right now on YouTube | https://youtube.com/watch?v=s8nFACrLxr0Follow Patrick on Instagram | @bigfatdonkeyListener TribeWe have our own private social network for listeners of the Unmistakable Creative podcast. In Fireside Chat No. 8, Lacy Frazer and Marie Mohler discuss the film, Finding Joe (by Patrick Solomon) as it relates to the Journey of Personal Transformation. In this fireside chat, Lacy and Marie talk about the overarching themes of "the hero's journey" that Joseph Campbell identified and explored so deeply ~ so that so many of us could learn the deeper skills for living a truly alive, truly meaningful, and truly authentic and inspired life. There are additional speakers and experts in the fields of mindfulness, mythology, and the work of Joseph Campbell sprinkled throughout the film, to illustrate the stages of the hero's journey in profoundly inspiring ways. Lastly, there are child actors that illustrate the story of the Golden Buddha told in this film . . . and that illustrate a knight's journey to slay a deep dragon . . . where the dragon is actually our ego or conditioned selves. There are so many incredible take-aways in this film, and so many ahas for the soul . . . that affirm the greater context of WHY we make these journeys in the first place and that can offer a bigger context for the GEMS in the JOURNEYS of our lives . . . including our challenges and biggest obstacles. Marie and Lacy are huge fans of this film, for the incredible role it plays in highlighting, outlining, and illustrating the hero's journey for us all . . . that we ALL make en route to rediscovering the Golden Buddha inside ourselves. We will include the link below to watch the trailer and to learn how to access the complete film directly through the "Finding Joe" website. This is a great podcast for anyone exploring change, facing a formidable obstacle or challenge, rising into something new, or seeking to heal some aspects and patterns in their life that previously seemed unmanageable or insurmountable. There are inner resources that these journeys are calling out in all of us, that can only be acquired by the lived experience of facing our greatest fears and rising into a higher and brighter version of ourselves in our lives today. Finding Joe is a fantastic film and inspirational depiction of Joseph Campbell's work and the timeless "hero's journeys" that we all make to rediscover more of who we truly are! Patrick Solomon is an award winning commercial director with over 20 years behind the camera. He started his career in the early 90’s by shooting his favorite activity: extreme sports. He quickly compiled a long list of action sports titles including surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and motocross films. In 1996 he graduated to commercials where he continues to thrive. His first venture into feature length films produced the award winning, Finding Joe, currently in release. The film explores the concept of the heroes journey, a pattern that is found in every story from every culture and includes all novels and movies. It explains that all humans are actually taking the same journey and once that’s understood, we become the heroes and heroines of own life’s story.
