POPULARITY
Can y'all even believe we interviewed Erin Gibson last week? Craaaazy! Also what's crazy is that Paula facetimed with RuPaul on Emmy night. She couln't stop sweating. Bi-Visibility Day let us touch on some misconceptions about being bisexual. Gayle King talked about eating a cheeseburger and we are over celebrities taking us along on their body idealism obsession. The Feminist Forum features no jail time for some jackass Alaskan Predator and #whyididntreport. The Fatphobic Disaster highlights Poppi Kramer. RIP. The Body POlitics Win (mostly) is the HuffPost article, "Everything You Know About Obesity is Wrong." Recommendations are: Forever, and Crazy RIch Asians. STAY HUNGRY!
In this episode, I sat down with comedian Lori Sommer! Lori initially reached out to me to talk about the loss of the love of her life, and as life would have it, just two weeks prior to our interview the comedy world lost one of our own -- Poppi Kramer died unexpectedly and left so many of us wondering how to move forward. Lori and I talk about the importance of community, of looking for silver linings, and how much it means to be able to have a place to express one's feelings. Lori performs regularly all over the city, but can often be found at the new Westside Comedy Club - Check out their upcoming events to see her. She also performs regularly with Bon Bon Burlesque! Follow them on FB to find out more!
This is a special edition of SWB featuring the late, great Poppi Kramer. She passed unexpectedly last week and I wanted to re-release the first of three SWB episodes we did together. She was obsessed with baseball, specifically her beloved New York Mets. We sat down and talked after going to a Yanks/Mets game in 2014. She was a national treasure. Enjoy. Please take 5 seconds to give us a 5 star review on iTunes and we will read it on the podcast! Poppi Kramer, comedian and friend and guest of the podcast, died this week. Her death affected me as I have strong memories of our mutual love for the game. And losing her made me examine the illusion of timelessness in baseball and how we recoil when we see that change and finality are possible in our game.
Rob and Dave go hard after Josh McDaniels for pulling out his handshake deal with the Colts, and on LeBron James for his recent quotes that are designed specifically to toy with Cleveland fans. Stand-up comedian Poppi Kramer (hardcore Giants fan) shares a heartwarming story honoring her Eagles fan friend's memory. And then literally nothing is heartwarming from then on. Also, why aren't there more two-sport athletes? Rob is very excited about one potential NFL star jumping ship. Thank You For The Reviews! Once again, we were thrilled to be invited by RSVP Vacations to step aboard their Southern Caribbean Cruise last week to tape an episode of the Swish Edition in front of a live studio audience on the ship. Hosts Scott & Steve (Dale sadly missed the boat) came away with some great stuff for y'all! In fact, there was so much of it, we had to release this week's episode in two parts. This is Swish on RSVP Part Two; Part One is available, too. It features the Gay Pimp himself, Jonny McGovern and the very funny Poppi Kramer. First up, the boys welcome back to the show, the incomparable and beautiful Frenchie Davis. Like all of our guests on the cruise, Frenchie was one of the featured entertainers and this power-house singer certainly blew the roof off the theater's roof on the first night. When she sat down with us, she talked about her time on reality TV; how she creates her cover and original song arrangements; why she decided to sport the bald look; why her size K breasts need some loving support; and much more. It's a great conversation that y'all will enjoy. After that, the hilarious and chicken-lovin' comedienne Jessica Kirson steps up to the stage. She'll have you in stitches when she talks about the black woman inside; her masturbatory methods; her new role as a cop in a major motion picture; her step-brother Zach Braff; her thoughts on gay cruises; and OH so much more. Jessica has become a great friend of the show and each and every time she's on, she makes up spit up our drinks! In a good way. But the piece de resistance is the Slight Dirty Gay Password game we play at the end of the episode. Frenchie and Jessica each teamed up with a member of the audience for a game show like none you've ever seen--or heard--before! Trust us, it's funny. And it ends with prizes donated by our good friends at Nasty Pig clothing company! And finally, a big thank you to the great folks at RSVP for all of their help and their kind invitation. A special shout out goes to Jeff Gundvaldson, Rachel Pearson and Brad Loekle!
The Swish Edition was thrilled to be invited by RSVP Vacations to step aboard their Southern Caribbean Cruise last week to tape episodes of the Swish Edition in front of live studio audiences on the ship. And, wow, hosts Scott & Steve (Dale sadly missed the boat) came away with some great stuff for y'all! In fact, there was so much of it, they had to release this week's episode in two parts. This is Swish on RSVP Part One; Part Two will drop on February 21. First up, the boys welcome the absolutely hilarious good sport, the Gay Pimp himself, Jonny McGovern. Jonny talks about his obsession with the Golden Girls, how he creates his original and parody songs, why he made the big move from New York City to Los Angeles, why he drives a purple car, all about his super hot Saturday night party at Fubar, his big gay podcast weekend in Florida, and much more. Scott & Steve were in stitches and were tickled pink to chat with one of their own gay idols. And we've got Jonny's Sexy Nerd song for ya, too! After that, the quick witting and super cute Poppi Kramer joins the boys on the stage. Poppi is a stand-up comedienne in New York City and this chick is so super cool, even when she cuts Scott down a size or two! We talk gay cruises with Poppi along with why she can't do the lesbian cruises because they're all too emotional; how she got started in comedy, by accident; how she found herself as a contestant on NBC's The Biggest Loser; why she shies away from fisting; and much, much more. You've just got to check out Poppi the next time you're in the NYC area. She's a super hoot. What you won't hear on this episode is all the pop culture news and personal stories you've come to expect from the podcast. But never fear, Dale, Scott & Steve will be back with a traditional episode on February 26, with tons of the crazy stories that happened at sea on the big gay cruise. Until then, don't forget to stream of download Part Two of Episode 215, too. It features the beautiful and talented Frenchie Davis and the always knee-slappin' Jessica Kirson. It was also taped on the ship with a very enthusiastic audience and it drops on February 21 and will be available forever afterwards whenever you want to listen. And finally, a big thank you to the great folks at RSVP for all of their help and their kind invitation. A special shout out goes to Jeff Gundvaldson, Rachel Pearson and Brad Loekle!
