The Representative Round was great but it's back to business for Round 16. 2021 overall champion Tim Moodie (@theSCLurker) joins Joe Fitz and Catfish to prepare for the coming round. We go through the key news and also do some serious number crunching in our new segment proudly sponsored by Carl McGrath Accountant. This round's analysis is about tackle busts. Strategy-wise, we compare potential plans on how to manage our trades and balance trade-ins and trade-outs over Rounds 16 to 18. We finish up by previewing the games for Round 16 and also talking through a number of players of interest too. We also tackle our Swysh SuperCoach Star of the Round predictions too. After representative round will be no longer in 2023, callers debated this morning on when international footy will return + if Origin could ever be played on a Friday or Saturday night.
Redcliffe Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett has voiced his disapproval of the NRL getting rid of its rep round next year. With the incoming Dolphins team seeing the need for the NRL to introduce a weekly bye and Origin set to return to its mid-week time slots due to TV rights, there will be no room for the standalone representative round to be held in 2023. Speaking with Grandstand Rugby League about how much the Pacific Tests mean to the players, Bennett said it was silly to get rid of them as they were such a unique part of the game.
Dr Simon Pettit stops by this week to have a chat with the League Indeed boys about concussion and all other things league... it took a bit of coaxing and several stubbies to get him on but we dun it and Rugby League Podcasting was the winner on the day. It's not really halfway through the season but with SuperCoach on a 'bye', it's a good week to take stock on the season that has been... so far. 2021 overall champion Tim Moodie (@theSCLurker) joins Joe Fitz and Catfish to "look in the mirror" and reflect on Rounds 1 to 15 of 2022. We look back at our season highlights, lowlights, our best and worst trades, the players that exceeded expectations and also the players that have disappointed us so far. It truly is a time to see what lessons we have learned the hard way so far, and what we can adjust moving forward. After the rep round, we'll back with the usual Crunchin' the Numbers, Strategy chat and game previews for Round 16. Make sure you join the SuperCoach Champions overall group (GROUP code 899392) to go into the running for our amazing prizes for this season, courtesy of Tilermade! A special episode this week as we celebrate Representative Round, with some incredible clashes as rugby league nations begin their preparations for the World Cup at the end of the year.In 'the Breakdown' we feature the historic clash between the New Zealand Kiwis and Mate Ma'a Tonga. For PNG rugby league remains their country's national sport and continue to improve their pathways system with the PNG Hunters performing well in the QLD Cup. While for Fiji they will be determined to show that they are the dominant pacific island nation heading into the world cup .And to round out the show in 'Rapid Fire' we preview the remaining games in representative round including Samoa v Cook Islands as well as Lebanon v Malta. It's the Representative Round and the NRL - and SuperCoach - competition takes a two week break to enjoy some international rugby league and of course, Game Two of the 2019 State of Origin series. So while there aren't any team lists and lockout is still over a week away, the Champions have decided to do introduce "the Champys" - our cheesy rip-off of the Logies and the Emmys and we're doing a Mid-Season version, and we'll definitely do a post-season awards ceremony as well. It's all just a bit of fun but listen in as we honour the winners and honourable mentions in a variety of categories ranging from the "Rookie of the Year (So Far)", the "Mid-Season MVP", the "2011 Corey Parker" Award, the "What if?" Awards and others. We'll be back to usual programming next week as we really ramp up preparations for Round 15/16 though once the fallout from rep round, and the Round 15 teamlists, is a bit clearer! Thank you as always for your kind reviews and ratings, we really do appreciate them all! And we did mention a little plug for our Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/NRLSC_Champions - please have a browse and see if you want to get involved! Follow us on Twitter (@NRLSC_Champions), or individually (@CatfishSC and @GFeeney10) to stay up to date on all things NRL SuperCoach, and to be notified about when the next podcast is out! Enjoy the rep footy and go the mighty QUEENSLANDERS!
