The Miami Dolphins struggled to get much of anything going defensively in Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills. Vic Fangio's defense surrendered 48 points — should anything have been done differently? Xavien Howard mentioned that he would've liked to shadow Diggs in coverage, but how much would that have changed the outcome? The largest concern is inside linebackers, David Long Jr. and Jerome Baker simply don't look comfortable in Fangio's defense. Long missed two tackles while Baker allowed three completions in coverage. It's early in the season, can the Dolphins clean things up at linebacker? Lastly, Andrew Van Ginkel is the only player with more than a sack through four games. While Jaelan Phillips has missed times with injuries, Miami's pass rush has struggled to disrupt opposing quarterbacks. It's early in the season — it's not time to panic, yet! What should you do if Jonathan Taylor returns in Week 5? How about Cooper Kupp? Is Sam Howell really a good streaming option? How about Zach Wilson? We'll talk about these potential fantasy football start/sit decisions and many others on today's podcast. We'll also dig into the film and try and determine whether NFL defenses might now have a formula to handle the Dolphins' skill weapons -- Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Raheem Mostert, Jaylen Waddle, De'Von Achane -- that could cause their fantasy production to decline. Big O says Dolphins have 13 games to fix it
The Buffalo Bills needed five or fewer plays to reach the end zone in Sunday's 48-20 win over the Miami Dolphins. Josh Allen ended the day with a perfect quarterback rating and wide receiver Stefon Diggs was virtually unguardable with six receptions for 120 yards. The Dolphins missed nine tackles on the day and only sacked Allen twice — do we blame the scheme or the players? Looking at the offensive side of the football, Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had a solid day with 282 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Miami's struggles began with an offensive line that allowed Tagovailoa to be sacked four times. However, De'Von Achane continues his impressive push with another 100 yards rushing. The Dolphins got punched in the mouth — how will they respond? Another Dolphins Podcast is hosted by Joshua Houtz (@Houtz) and Jake Mendel (@JMendel94). Rookie running back De'Von Achane continues to light the world on fire, scoring a pair of touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Starting running back Raheem Mostert struggled to get much of anything going — is it Achane's time to shine as the team's top running back? We also discuss injuries to Terron Armstead and Connor Williams, as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was sacked four times after being taken down once through the first three weeks. The Dolphins scored 20 points but couldn't keep up with Buffalo's high-flying offense — will Miami be ready to bounce right back? After putting up 70 points against the Denver Broncos, the Miami Dolphins couldn't keep up with the Buffalo Bills. Quarterback Joah Allen had four passing touchdowns and just four incompletions in the 48-20 win over Miami. The divisional bout turned into a one-sided track meet as the Dolphins struggled to contain Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who finished with 120 yards and three touchdowns on just seven targets. Should cornerback Xavien Howard be shadowing Diggs in that situation, or is Miami's entire defense to blame after missing nine tackles? Sunday's performance was concerning, how can the Dolphins clean things up defensively? This clip originally aired on the podcast: Buffalo Pantsed the Dolphins on Sunday — How Will Miami Respond? The Host of the Locked On Phins Podcast joins Joe to discuss Sunday's loss in Buffalo
The game of the week turned out to be no game at all with the Buffalo Bills knocking out the Miami Dolphins, 48-20. Overreactions to the Dolphins' sluggish day on offense are ridiculous. These two teams just may meet two more times this season. But what a day for Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs and, without a doubt, head coach Sean McDermott. We all know this is his defense in 2023. Slowing down the Dolphin machine was a promising early sign. The back-half of the podcast is spent discussing the rookie quarterbacks.C.J. Stroud's arrow is pointing up — his calm and cool confounded the Steelers, 30-6 — and co-host Jim Monos also loves what he sees in Anthony Richardson. Our resident scout is applying his unique grading system to the QBs again, and you'll want to hear his Richardson breakdown. (You may recall Monos wasn't thrilled with the Florida tape.) Bryce Young? It's early. But… no. There hasn't much to get excited about. Not yet.And there's plenty of San Francisco talk. Brock Purdy was nearly perfect on Sunday and Monos had a sizzling take to share on one of his teammates. You can listen to the Go Long Show above and everywhere you access podcasts. Hour 1 Once again we are coming on the air after a terrible performance by a NY football team. The Giants lost to the Seahawks 24-3. Boomer heard something disturbing on the broadcast. Troy Aikman said he talked to Brian Daboll and he said that he's always fired up for the games, he just has to get Daniel Jones fired up. We all thought Daboll could turn Jones into Josh Allen, but they are completely different types of guys. Daniel Jones got paid based on the playoff game against the Vikings, who had the worst defense in the league. Boomer called last night a Daniel Jones non-leadership game. Gio said Daniel Jones ‘has been a wet noodle ever since he got here'. Jerry is here for his first update and starts with the 97 yard interception return for a TD that put the Seahawks up 21-3. Daniel Jones talked about what went wrong there. Brian Daboll said the entire night was terrible. Rob Saleh talked about Zach Wilson's back shoulder throws. The Mets introduced David Stearns to the media and he sounds like Brodie Van Wagenen. The MLB playoffs start today. It was media day for NBA teams and Jerry had some of the audio. Jimmy Butler showed up in a Jennifer Aniston haircut. In the final segment of the hour, people were asking Boomer if the Mets really had Buck Showalter announce his own firing. Hour 2 Gio called last night's Giants' loss to Seattle a ‘blood bath'. Almost every team in the NFL has offensive line issues so we can't keep going to that. Boomer said if they didn't turn the ball over 3 times it would have been a much tighter game. Brian Daboll was furious at Daniel Jones for the pick-6. Gio said this whole thing with the Giants is getting old. One good year, then a bad year. This game was a total regression for Daniel Jones. It was everything we saw from him early in his career. Jerry is here for another update and starts with Carl Banks calling a play ‘shameful tackling'. Rob Saleh explains how much Zach Wilson has gone through in his career. The Mets introduced David Stearns to the media. The MLB playoffs start today. Knicks Head Coach Tom Thibodeau met the media and talked about starting all over again. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer tells us how great Josh Allen was this week against the Dolphins. Gio thinks he offended somebody at Boomer's golf tournament yesterday. Hour 3 Maggie & Perloff are doing mornings now that DA has moved on from CBS Sports Radio. Gio hears them prepping their show in the morning and it's really throwing him off. It's abuzz with energy and he wants it to be tranquil again. The Giants lost last night and are now 1-3 with 1-5 staring them in the face. We thought they were a playoff team but last night showed us otherwise. Boomer said if Brian Daboll had hair, he'd be pulling it out. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Daniel Jones' fumble that led to a Seahawks TD. The Giants offensive line gave up 11 sacks. Rodney Harrison called Zach Wilson garbage and Micah Parsons took issue with that. Deshaun Watson was medically cleared to play but he chose not to. In the final segment of the hour, how many teams in the NFL have quarterbacks that think they can lead them to the Super Bowl? Hour 4 The Giants did not lose their defensive coordinator or their offensive coordinator last year. They did not get head coaching jobs. So why are they so bad this season? Jerry returns for his final update of the morning and starts with Daniel Jones throwing a pick-6 in the loss to Seattle. Darren Waller has no answers and can only do what he does. The Giants have the worst offense and defense. Geno Smith was asked about the years he played in New York. Rob Saleh talked about the Sauce Gardner holding call. Patrick Mahomes did agree with the call. There's a conspiracy theory that the NFL wants the Chiefs to win because of the Taylor Swift effect. Steve Cohen talked about the moment he realized David Stearns was his guy. The Moment of The Day is all about the way Stearns' voice sounds. In the final segment of the show, the Sphere opened in Las Vegas with U2. Boomer wants a New York Sphere.
Gio called last night's Giants' loss to Seattle a ‘blood bath'. Almost every team in the NFL has offensive line issues so we can't keep going to that. Boomer said if they didn't turn the ball over 3 times it would have been a much tighter game. Brian Daboll was furious at Daniel Jones for the pick-6. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer tells us how great Josh Allen was this week against the Dolphins. Gio thinks he offended somebody at Boomer's golf tournament yesterday.
In hour three, Jimmy Butler finally makes a comment about rumors he was dating Shakira. The MLB is back to being cutesy with their start times. Crowder revisits Stefon Diggs torching the Dolphins defense and is still upset that nobody made the obvious change to X. Plus, early betting lines for Week 5 are released.
In hour two, after watching the Giants last night on MNF, we're feeling good about a Dolphins win on Sunday. Then, Marlins PA Announcer, Josh Appel, joins the show as we get ready for Game 1 of the Marlins Wild Card series @ Philadelphia tonight.
In hour one, Miami Dolphins S Jevon Holland joins the show live from Hollywood Kia to discuss the message to the team from Head Coach Mike McDaniel and DC Vic Fangio after the loss to Buffalo on Sunday. Plus, why he was upset with his play after watching the film and his experience at Niagara Falls.
