Gus Gould has publicly admitted the Lachlan Galvin halfback experiment isn't working — and Mick Carayannis isn't holding back, firing up at the Bulldogs boss over the Galvin gamble at Canterbury. With Sam Walker off contract and under pressure on State of Origin's biggest stage, the panel debates whether his Queensland debut can convince the Roosters to keep him — or whether Reece Walsh's Origin snub was the right call. Plus, we dig into the Billy Slater and Aaron Woods rift — is it real? — and take your questions on Dean Young's future at the Dragons, Junior Paulo's contract at Parramatta, and more.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
With State of Origin just around the corner, Billy Slater gives a rare insight into the pressure and preparation behind selecting a Queensland team. After Tom Dearden’s injury rocked the Maroons picture, Billy explains why selection decisions sit with him and why he’s been watching every Queensland player closely for the past 10 weeks. Billy and Peter Psaltis break down the Cowboys’ heartbreaking loss to Parramatta, the impact of Dearden’s injury, and the growing debate around Queensland’s halves and bench makeup under the new 19-man squad rules. There’s also a deep dive into the changing speed of the modern game, why recovery and fitness are becoming more important than ever, and whether Origin itself is evolving. Plus, Melbourne finally snap their losing streak, Billy shares a funny airport moment with Terrell May, the Raiders and Panthers produce a classic in Canberra, young halves continue to emerge across the NRL, and Billy opens up emotionally on the Stories of Origin Podcast and the game that meant the most to his hometown of Innisfail. What a big few days in the rugby league world! Danny Weidler welcomes back Adam Pengilly on The Journos for another massive show. Jarome Luai is the inaugural PNG Chief and with a player of that calibre and a character his peers gravitate towards, who will be next? There could be a big domino effect happening! The tax-free salaries are the major draw card but how do the third party deals work for the Chiefs? Everything is explained and the figures are more than juicy! Are the Bulldogs in crisis? Joey Johns says Mitch Woods needs to make his debut and start at halfback when back from injury but that creates an even bigger roster headache for a club that seemingly already has one. Could Matt Burton be the one that goes? And could he play a major part in another mammoth NSW-based rebuild after contributing heavily in the Bulldogs turnaround? Danny spoke to Gus Gould during the week and got the mastermind's thoughts on social media abuse as the game learns to deal with an ever-changing media landscape. The boys give their unique thoughts on Wayne Bennett's press conferences but also open up on his relationship with the media... but back to Luai... wasn't Alex Johnston named the first signing for PNG? The boys explain what exactly went wrong. Check out Triple M NRL's Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

After Rory McIlroy's Masters Champions' Dinner reveal, the team breakdown what would make their menu. Spida is bruschetta, tomahawks and cheesecake with VB on the side. Liam goes duck pancakes, fish burger and chips with Dr Pepper. Leisel is dumplings, cacio e pepe and banoffee pie with margaritas. George goes ceviche and oysters, pork belly jungle curry and boa buns, tiramisu and sticky date with extra dirty martinis. Spida has major neighbour beef with the people who have just moved in next door. Loud kids are making the old man grumpy. Jane in Mermaid Waters is looking for somewhere to move to since her neighbours moved in. Loud mouths with terrible language. Mark's neighbours are the worst DJ's ever, because they never listen to a full song. Nothing beats Kerry, whose neighbours told the cops she had a meth lab in the basement. Jeff from Arundel had a BBQ blunder back in the day that scared him off cooking with gas. Can he be convinced to be the ceremonial BBQ starter? Turns out Jeff also has doubts about air travel. The Podium Game is BACK with the team's Podium of Sounds. Kookaburras, cans cracking, wickets being skittled and Gus Gould before State of Origin! Some psycho in the office says nails on a blackboard... callers love a truck's break exhaust rumbling and their great grandchild's first laughs. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

There are developments on the Bronson Xerri saga as clubs start to distant themselves from the Bulldogs centre but does he also owe Gus Gould after his help with past issues? Danny's not happy with the Prime Minister but also no one is happy with how Leichhardt Oval's development plans are faring. Natasha Fordham is the Senior Graphic Designer and Marketing Coordinator at the NRL's most successful club of the modern era; the Penrith Panthers. This episode was recorded in October 2024, just off the back of the Panthers 5th consecutive grand final and 4th consecutive Premiership.*The recording had some audio issues and needed some repair. And while we could not completely salvage the file and present the episode to an audio standard we would prefer, Natasha's story and experiences are too valuable for us not to share*A Penrith local and Panthers fan, Natasha practically manifested her position at the club. Starting during the time legendary rugby league figure Gus Gould was Executive GM of Football and laying the foundations of impending astronomical success, Natasha journeyed through the a creative stabilisation at the club. While the on field team built a modern day dynasty, the creative team were pulling back the layers of multiple visual identities and rebooting the brand of the Panthers. In our episode we discuss the life of design during the success of the club, the process of decking out facilities on game day. We talk about connection; connecting with community and connecting with players and the importance of bridging them together through design. Natasha shares on the teams affection with pop culture (like the internal Top Gun theme in the 2021 Finals) and what role it has played on storytelling at the club.We talk kits and the bold decision by staff to use thirds and alternate jerseys in finals campaigns instead of the traditional home/away and we ask Natasha whats the official origin of the "licorice all sorts" colour combination. You can connect with Natasha at: @Tash_graphicdesign Hosted on Acast. Today's episode is such an enjoyable chat with Gus Gould! In the rugby league world, Gus is known as being a player, a general manager, a commentator and the most successful NSW State of Origin coach in history. He's also known for telling it like it is and voicing his honest opinions, despite them not always being popular. But, this chat was full of deep and meaningful conversations about his family and what led him to the various positions that he has held within the rugby league world. He hasn't planned a single thing in his life!We have some belly laughs about how he got his nickname 'Gus' and when he met Nick Politis & subsequently joined the Roosters. This chat had me see a completely different side of Gus that I hadn't expected. He speaks about what he looks for in an up and coming player and how he never intended to be a young leader. You can now watch our podcasts on Youtube! As for all of these podcasts, Shaw and Partners have generously donated $10k to the charity of choice of each of our guests. Gus chose to donate the money to The Mark Hughes Foundation This podcast is brought to you by Shaw and Partners. It is hosted by Gus Worland and produced by Keeshia PettitSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
