God desires that our hearts belong to Him. He desires that the faith we profess and practice will in fact be the same faith He calls us to…faith based on His Word of promise. Loved by God who gave us His Son, we will respond with faith that loves God with all our heart.

The problems with tradition.
Jesus exposes the hypocrisy of the Pharisees 'from Jerusalem' in this text. They charge Jesus of breaking the 'tradition of the elders' and Jesus reveals that they break God's great command to honor mother and father by caring for them in their golden years. The hypocritical know-it-alls actually did not know the true meaning of God's Law since they did not practice it with pure hearts. Jesus demanded that pure worship, not the focus of washing hands, conformed to the spirit and truth of God the Father. In other words, Jesus expects that we bring our experience of worship into conformity with what is true about God the Father, true about Jesus the Son, and to let our spirits to be authentically awakened and moved by that truth.

God’s people have always struggled to trust His Word when popular opinion and/or human wisdom says something else. God’s plan for husbands and wives is a modern example of that.

Ce qui à le plus mis en colère Jésus c'était bien l'hypocrisie religieuse.
In this passage, Jesus confronts the Pharisees with a head-on collision of truth vs tradition. Jesus exposes how they were worshiping the fences that they had erected around their religion and were missing out on Jesus! Isn't it easy for us to do the same? I pray that God will use this message to help you get your eyes off the 'religion' of Christianity and to put them on Jesus!

Are we consumed with merely looking good on the outside or truly being changed from the inside?

In the second message of a series from the Gospel of Mark, Dr. Childs examines religious traditions. Before this message, we played a video clip from Fiddler on the Roof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V2lxFWBqfI We learn what religious traditions are and where they come from. Not only were these traditions common in Jesus' time, but they are also easily identified in churches today. Most importantly we learn Jesus' take on religious traditions and the danger they pose to us when they go beyond God's Word.

It is possible to look as though you are close to God because of your knowledge and outward actions, but in reality your heart is far from Him.

Your love of Christ is revealed in your love for the Word of God.
Jesus was confronted with the soul-destroying effects of religious hypocrisy driven by adherence to human tradition over God's Word. Does truth foster in you a heart relationship with God or does tradition breed external religion in your life? Do you have a love for truth that upholds Scripture as the supreme authority or does tradition supersede it? Listen and find out.
