In this powerful exploration of John 6, we delve into the profound reasons why God allows storms in our lives. The central message revolves around Jesus walking on water, a miraculous event that reveals His divine nature and power over creation. This story challenges us to see our trials through a spiritual lens, recognizing that often, it's our obedience to Christ that leads us into difficult situations. The key takeaway is that Jesus sends us into storms not to harm us, but to grow our faith and reveal His glory. We're reminded that God's primary concern isn't our comfort, but the purity of our faith. This message encourages us to worship Jesus in the midst of our storms, trusting that He sees us, is with us, and ultimately uses these challenges to deepen our relationship with Him. As we face life's turbulent waters, we're called to look beyond our immediate circumstances and see Christ walking on the waves, sovereign over all our trials.
Jesus Walks on WaterJohn 6:16-21“But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid”The Sea of Galilee is about 8 miles long and 4 miles wide. One furlong is 1/8 of a mile, so there are 8 furlongs in a mile. They rowed about 3 1/2 miles across the Sea of Galilee. A great storm arose, on troubled sea. They saw Jesus walking on the troubled sea. They were afraid, but oh how things changed when Jesus got into their boat. He calmed the sea. Open their eyes and behold, they was almost at the other side. What a good feeling, knowing that land is in sight. Knowing that you're safe and sound. This is a beautiful story that teaches to trust in Jesus when you're on troubled seas. Think about it: Jesus walked about 3 1/2 miles on the troubled seas. Praise God.

A sermon from Matthew 14:22-36
Contrast the responses of the crowd, the disciples, and Jesus Himself. Why did the crowd want to make Jesus' king? Why did the disciples struggle to understand despite witnessing countless miracles? And what can we learn from Jesus' choice to retreat in prayer after such a monumental event? Sermon Notes Mark 6:45 & 46 Jesus sends His disciples and then sends the multitude away and went to pray Mark 6:47 Jesus is alone on the land Mark 6:48 The disciples are having a difficult time crossing the sea, but Jesus walks on the water planning on meeting them on the other side Mark 6:49 – 52 Disciples think Jesus is a ghost and cry out. Jesus enters the boat and they are astonished. They gained no insight from the loaves and fish miracle Mark 6:53 – 56 Jesus continues His ministry and the people bring the sick wanting to be healed by Him
Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every single day. We are in the Gospel of Mark. Go to the website and grab the Scripture Journal for this study so you can study along with us. I want to give a shout-out today to Tim Steinke from Menasha, WI. Go Packers! Thank you for being a monthly partner in Project23 and helping us share the Gospel with millions as we work our way through the entire Bible. Today, we're reading Mark 1:21-45: And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and was teaching. And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes. And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him. And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.” And at once his fame spread everywhere throughout all the surrounding region of Galilee. And immediately he left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Now Simon's mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them. That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him. And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. And Simon and those who were with him searched for him, and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.” And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.” And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons. And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.” Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. And Jesus sternly charged him and sent him away at once, and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a proof to them.” But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in desolate places, and people were coming to him from every quarter. — Mark 1:21-45 Jesus walks into the synagogue and doesn't just teach—He commands. His words land differently. Not like the scribes. Not recycled thoughts or secondhand opinions. Jesus speaks with authority, and it stuns people. It's the kind of authority that silences demons and heals sickness with a touch. This is power and compassion, side by side. He speaks, and spirits flee. He touches, and sickness disappears. He lifts a woman by the hand—and she rises, healed, and starts serving. Jesus isn't just full of authority—He uses it to serve, not dominate. He doesn't flex to impress. He acts to restore. That's the kind of King He is. And word spreads. Fast. People start crowding the door. Sick, desperate, oppressed—everyone wants a moment with Jesus. But here's the key: the ones who encountered Him didn't just get relief, they experienced release. Not just healed from something—but freed for something. When Jesus shows up, things change. People don't stay the same. So, here's the question: Have you allowed his authority to change you? Not just inspire you—but actually disrupt, heal, and transform you? #JesusHeals, #SpiritualAuthority, #FaithOverFear ASK THIS: What do you notice about the way Jesus uses His authority? How does His power give you comfort instead of fear? Where do you need healing or freedom today? What's stopping you from bringing that to Jesus right now? DO THIS: Surrender an area of your life where you've been resisting Jesus' authority—ask Him to transform it today. PRAY THIS: Jesus, I don't just want to admire your power—I want to be changed by it. Heal what's broken in me, and lead me in freedom. Amen. PLAY THIS: Same Power.

This past Sunday, Jess Ninaber shared a powerful word from John 20, reminding us that while we celebrate the resurrection with joy, the disciples' first Easter evening was filled with fear, shame, and uncertainty. Behind locked doors, Jesus appeared and spoke peace — not as the absence of conflict, but as the presence of wholeness, restoration, and reconciliation. The resurrection was not only about Jesus rising from the grave but about breathing new life into His followers, commissioning them to live boldly on mission through the power of the Holy Spirit. Even in moments of doubt, like Thomas experienced, Jesus meets us with compassion, offering real encounters that strengthen our faith. Today, Jesus still walks through locked doors, speaks peace over us, breathes life into us, and calls us deeper into relationship with Him. Everything changes for a small group of disciples when Jesus walks into the room three days after he was crucified. The rooms he enters are filled with men and women gathered in fear and doubt. There was uncertainty in the days ahead, there were rumors about what would happen and strange talk about Jesus being alive. When Jesus entered these spaces everything changed because he brought peace and hope.
For Easter Sunday, Darren continues our Easter talk series, looking at how Jesus' resurrection gives us peace and a hope for the future.

Cole Albright's sermon on John 6:16-21, Jesus walking on water.
"Do not be afraid of your fears, but cope with them—learn how to deal with them—because unless you do, you cannot live your life abundantly and fully." (Fyodor Raychynets)Evoking courage, resilience, and faith in the face of overwhelming uncertainty, Ukrainian pastor and theologian Fyodor Raychynets returns to For the Life of the World three years after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In conversation with Evan Rosa, Fyodor shares his reflections on fear, freedom, and the emotional and spiritual challenges of living fully in a time of war. He discusses his response to recent global political developments, the struggle of holding onto hope, and the importance of confronting fear rather than suppressing it. Drawing from the Gospel of Mark's iteration of Jesus walking on water, his own personal grief and therapy, and the lived experience of war, Fyodor sees fear not as something to be avoided or gotten rid of, but as something to understand and face with courage."We are in a situation where we are scared to hope.""Do not be afraid of your fears, but cope with them—learn how to deal with them—because unless you do, you cannot live your life abundantly and fully.""If I want to say to someone, ‘I love you,' I say it. If I want to forgive, I forgive. If I want to do something meaningful, I do it now—because tomorrow is never guaranteed.""The enemy wants us to live in fear, to be paralyzed by it. In this seventh episode of our Supernatural Stories series, Rachel White (of TOTEM Readings) chats with guest Brittney Barney all about her recent experience with none other than Jesus Christ!I know, I know. The name "Jesus" is SUCH a trigger across religious AND New Age circles, making him a hard figure to chat about as a spirit guide. So, JESUS BLESS Britt for her bravery, curiosity and, above all else, spiritual honesty. I mean, it's not like she MADE this all happen! In this episode, Rachel and Britt discuss her spontaneous vision of Jesus, as well as his seemingly very effective efforts to heal her energetically-- and possibly even physically. Britt was very pregnant at the time, and woke up the next day to an epic detox-- some might say the "detox from heaven"!We discuss how Jesus is an unusually polarizing figure in spiritual circles, despite the regular and totally accepted appearance of religious figures from other faith systems like the Buddha, Durga, Artemis, Zeus, and even the Archangels of Christianity. Even the concept of Jesus has become a serious third rail in most polite circles, which may be limiting folks from having healing contact with this loving energy.Don't worry-- Rachel isn't going full Jesus people on you like Doreen Virtue did (whoops). She's just trying to open the dialogue up and create some sacred space to chat about direct spiritual experiences without judgement or knee jerk reactions. It's in the objective, messy middle that all the magic happens...and Britt is well on her way!LINKS:Rachel's Website: https://www.totemreadings.comTOTEM Readings Substack: https://totemrach.substack.comRachel's Other Links: https://linktr.ee/totemrachPlease support the Sponsors of The Skeptical Shaman Podcast:The TOTEM Flower Essence Deck: https://a.co/d/gw16LsGThe TOTEM Tarot Deck: https://www.amazon.com/TOTEM-Tarot-Deck-Rachel-White/dp/0578980126The TOTEM Flower Essences: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TotemReadingsATXPlease note: The views and opinions expressed on The Skeptical Shaman do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of the podcast.
