Sometimes in life, time runs out on the thing we were hoping for, and we're left in a state of disappointment or despair. So in today's sermon, we'll explore a powerful story where Jesus himself enters into that experience, and we'll discover why we can keep hope alive even when it feels too late. Scripture Reading: John 2:5-11 John's invitation to open our hands to the transforming generosity of Jesus
Why did God choose to dwell in flesh? Drawing inspiration from the Upanishads and the foundational text of John 1:1-18, this sermon explores the profound purpose of the Incarnation. We find that God's desire is not to overcome distance, but to overcome the illusion of our own isolation—to pull us from "I am" into "We are." The physical world is inseparable from the Divine. We challenge the focus on "Right Belief" and explore the call to Right Relationship with all things. This includes embracing the "Harmony Way" concept that recognizes our kinship with all of creation—the rocks, the rivers, our neighbours, and our enemies. The light that shines in the darkness is the recognition that we are one family, one life in God.Scripture Reading: John 1:1-18Watch the full worship service: https://youtu.be/oR5adSdfdyELearn more about us: www.youngunitedchurch.com

Scripture Reading: John 3:16Speaker: Jim AngehrSeries: "Advent in Four Movements"
Today's Scripture Reading:John 7:37-4437 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[c] 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.40 On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”41 Others said, “He is the Messiah.”Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee? 42 Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David's descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?” 43 Thus the people were divided because of Jesus. 44 Some wanted to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.

This Fall we've been living in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John as a congregation. We've been looking at how Jesus models life for us and what is possible for a human being surrendered to God the Father and empowered by God the Holy Spirit. In this week's sermon, the conclusion to our series, we look at some of Jesus' last words to His disciples, that they would do even greater works than He had done. We talk about what it means to trust Jesus' words and how we can live surrendered to the Father and empowered by the Holy Spirit.Scripture Reading: John 14:8-26
