Advent Day 22 - God's Love for UsScripture: 1 John 4:9 (NIV)"This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him."Hey everyone! Welcome to Week 4 of our Advent series, where we're focusing on Love. Today, let's dive into 1 John 4:9. It says, "This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him."Think about the sacrifices made in stories like The Lord of the Rings, where characters lay down their lives for others. While those stories move us, God's act of sending Jesus is the ultimate expression of love—far surpassing any fictional narrative.God didn't just say He loves us; He demonstrated it in the most profound way. He sent Jesus, His only Son, into the world so that we might have life through Him. This isn't just about eternal life after we die; it's about a fulfilling, abundant life right now, rooted in His love.As we approach Christmas, let's reflect on this incredible gift. God's love is not distant or abstract; it's personal and transformative. It's the kind of love that reaches into our everyday lives, offering hope, peace, and joy.Prayer:Heavenly Father, thank You for showing us what true love is by sending Jesus into the world. Help us to grasp the depth of Your love for us. Let this love fill our hearts and overflow into our relationships with others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

#559 A Love for us That Never Stops. Don't you hate it when you are right in the middle of something and you run out of what you need to get the job done? Today let's talk about something that you never need fear running out of, no not ever. It is available to us right now, and there is nothing greater, and nothing can stand in the way of its getting to us. Let's talk, this is a good one. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dl-700/support
Hebrews 9:24-25 For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own. Look at what Jesus did for us and marvel at the love of God and the ministry of His Son. Under the old covenant, the high priest merely entered a copy or shadow of the holy place in heaven. Furthermore, although the Holy of Holies represented the presence of God, the high priest didn't enter into THE presence of God for worshippers. Also, the annual repetition of entry into the holy place was with the blood of animals, not his own blood. In contrast, God appointed Jesus as a high priest forever to intercede for all whom He gave to Jesus, once for all. Those whom God chose to make this new covenant with were chosen on the same basis as Abraham was chosen—the sheer will and mercy of the Father, God. There was nothing in Abraham that moved God to enter into covenant with him. God's love is always directed toward His own for their highest good and for His own glory. So Jesus was appointed and sent by God, as He said in John 8:18. “I am He who testifies about Myself, and the Father who sent Me testifies about Me.” He was sent to offer His own blood for the forgiveness of sins once for all, for all time. After making the supreme sacrifice, Jesus appeared in THE presence of God in heaven, which is the reality upon which the copy was made. And now consider this and marvel. Because of His love, God sent Him to minister for us and to us, all who were given to the Son and who believe these things. God is for us, and that is our confidence. The apostle Paul encouraged the Roman church with these words that echo what we find in these verses. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 8:32-35; 37-39). Jesus appears in God's presence to accomplish what the Father and the Son desire and enjoy—their glory that comes from loving. That's what motivates and encourages us to live to love with Jesus. We want God to be glorified as we love with Him. I hope you'll visit livetolovewithjesus.com and take advantage of the free discipleship resources.

Welcome back, friend! I'm so glad you're joining me for today's episode, which dives into a deeply personal topic I've had to walk through myself. This isn't something I talk about lightly—it's a question I hear often from my one-on-one coaching clients: "Why doesn't God heal me?" While I'm not addressing physical healing today, I want to talk about healing in terms of emotional pain and brokenness, and how it relates to our beliefs about God's love for us. If you've ever wondered why you still carry pain or questioned if God is withholding healing, this conversation is for you. We'll explore what it means to open our hearts and invite God into those difficult places, because healing starts with surrender. In order to reach the divine harbor of God's love, we must first fear Him as God, Who chastens sin and transgression. It is not possible to cross the sea and reach the harbor without a boat. Likewise, it is impossible to reach the harbor of love without repentance. The fear of God, as commander and captain, makes us sit in the boat of repentance and takes us across the murky sea of life and guides us to the divine harbor of divine love. Just as we are unable to live without air, likewise it is impossible to live in the eternal life with God if we do not breathe the very sweet and fragrant air of God's love. God is love and full of compassion. Let us not sadden Him in anything! He endured the Cross for us; His head was pricked by the crown of thorns; His side was pierced by the spear; His feet were nailed; His back was scourged; His All-holy mouth was given gall and vinegar; His heart ached from the insolence and ingratitude; He was naked up on the Cross in front of such a demonic mob. This, my children, is Whom we should not sadden with our carelessness, which intensifies His suffering. The Jews were His enemies, whereas we have been baptized in His holy name we are His disciples who are devoted to serving Him! _______ Orthodox Wisdom is dedicated to sharing the writings and lives of the Saints of the Orthodox Church. "Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers." English hymnwriter Stuart Townend penned that line almost thirty years ago in the modern classic How Deep the Father's Love For Us. It puts us in the shoes of mockers and scoffers as Jesus walks to his death. And it's a hymn of praise! It's not meant to crush us, but to lift us into joy - as we consider how God transforms both the humiliated and the mockers. Our society features heavy doses of both, but soul-stirring joy is rarely a part of it. If God can so transform Jesus' ultimate walk of shame, how might He do that in our lives now?

Hi friend, I'm reminded how much the harm the hard things we've walked through in this life affect us. They leave their mark on us at times, so to speak... So, if you're walking "through it," I'm sorry for the pain... but keep walking... you will get through this. You've survived all of your worst days so far. ;) Glad you're here, and I hope today's episode encourages you. If you need prayer, email me at hello@danisumner.com Also, in today's episode, I mentioned a survey--if you'd like to participate, that would be amazing. I love hearing from those who listen to the show. Here's the link. Here's the song, quote, and verse I mention: Quote: "you will never outperform your own self-image." Verse: Isaiah 40:26 "Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing." Song: "Another in the fire" Hillsong United iTunes // Youtube // Spotify Glad you're here. Much love, Dani
In this message, Pastor Derek Holmes looks at Ephesians 5:1-5 at how the deep sacrificial love God has for us should overwhelm and captivate our hearts to obey the command to imitate His love toward others.
Send us a Text Message. While Mary Ann and Luanne take a short break, this week they're re-posting the second part of their three-part series on grief. In our hardest, most emotionally painful moments and seasons, God is with us, speaking, comforting, manifesting His character and Word, and bringing life from death. "We are the moms who live in the push-pull of exhaustion and joy. We love this life even when we don't like it. We love these kids with all of our beings — even when we may not like them very much. We thank God for the gift of love He gives in the form of sticky hands, flown coops, late nights, early mornings, birthday celebrations, cards in the mail, trips to see each other, texts sent, calls placed, and prayers whispered. Michael Hinton // What does it take to earn your trust? Some may answer a showing of love or a proven commitment, while others might say they'd need a personal invitation. Over 2000 years have passed since the cross. It's normal to have questions, fears, and doubts, but in Jesus, humanity saw the divine break through space and time – showing us we could trust again. Now, we don't have to have it all together, but God stands, arms extended. We just have to trust enough to follow that first step out of the tomb.Visit Our Websitesummitconnect.orgFollow Us on Social MediaFacebook // InstagramWatch Online Services and MoreYouTubeSubscribe for weekly sermon podcasts!
