Theatre Harrisburg, Central Pennsylvania’s oldest performing arts organization, is celebrating its 100th season. It was originally founded as Harrisburg Community Theatre in 1926 during the “little theatre” movement. “And really what that was where groups of amateurs or community members wanting to theater into their communities. So primarily theater was happening, you know, on Broadway and in the big cities, “said Executive Director, Lorien Reese-Mahay. In 1952 the theatre was moved to its current home uptown at Sixth & Hurlock Streets and in 1999 was officially named Theatre Harrisburg. This Fall, the theatre will mark its 100th season, which is a huge milestone for the organization. “Harrisburg itself, looking at 100 years of Harrisburg history, just to think how dynamic this city has been over that period of time. And yet there is something fundamental about what this organization brings to Harrisburg that throughout those decades and almost a century and well, next year, a century, that the community decides that this is important and continues to make that decision, “said Sydney Kyler, Board Chair. To mark their centennial, there will be productions to mark this historic milestone. “So, we are going to be opening our season with A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. That's going to be at the Krebsky Center in September. We are going to be doing Guys and Dolls in the Whittaker Center in November. The last five years in February at the Krebsky Center, we're doing Godspell at the Whittaker Center in April and May. And then I Love You, Your Perfect Now Change at the Krebsky Production Center as our sort of closing show for the season, “said Reese-Mahay. Listen to the podcast to hear the entire conversation. This episode is the finale of Season 6. Yes it's a wrap on season 6 and what a joy it has been. This season the podcast reached the milestone of 100 episodes and received its first award. I am over the moon to announce that the podcast has been awarded the Bronze and Listener's Choice 2024 Signal awards in the Artists and Designers Shaping Culture Category! Cheers to more seasons and more awards.  Now on today's show you are in for a real treat because you have two Jersey girls, with Caribbean mothers, and theater backgrounds on the microphone. It was such a pleasure to sit down with none other than actorprenuer Lori Tishfield, who now resides in Toronto. We discuss how important it is to maintain a sense of self beyond your professional identity and sitting in a place of balance between internal validation and the need for external affirmation from the industry. We touch upon overcoming self doubt and societal conditioning so you can own your confidence and move through your career, business and life with agency. Reminiscing on how the regalness of the black actresses we grow up on and their mere presence was empowering and unapologetic, teaching us we are expensive. Our thoughts, feelings, and contributions to this world especially as black women are expensive and we should act accordingly. We dissect how rejection is protection, the need to sometimes pull the receipts from past experiences to remember things that have worked out before and not forcing doors shut before their time. This episode boils down to trusting your intuition as your compass, understanding that your path is uniquely yours, and pivoting with grace so you can see where the journey takes you.  Lori Tishfield is an Actorpreneur simultaneously based in Brooklyn and Toronto. Lori's most recent live performances have been as a featured vocalist in André De Shields' concert series and in her recent and first solo show, Audra on a Budget, at Green Room 42. On television, Lori can also be found in Orange is the New Black and FBI: Most Wanted. Aside from the arts, Lori is the Founder of Natural Talent, an experiential staffing agency exclusively staffing actors in brand ambassador work. In the last 9 years, Natural Talent has partnered with over 300 brands and provided “survival jobs” for over 500 actors nationwide. This Fall, Lori has stepped in as the national facilitator of the Creative Entrepreneurship Project for the Entertainment Community Fund, educating artists nationwide on how to start their own businesses. In this fourth week of our teaching series on Healing, we'll be looking at what scripture has to say about the healing of our cities. The brokenness in our connections to one another can be so easy to see in the city around us. But real hope for the healing of our city can be harder for us to grab hold of. Do we hope in our own striving? Or is our hope in Jesus, the wounded healer who loves our city and longs for its wholeness more than we do? This Sunday, Tina will walk us through what it means to lives of hope and lives of worship, tethered to the restored and healed city that is to come at the end of all things, as we join God's spirit in the work of healing our city.- Series Description - God heals. We see this in scripture. Jesus performs miracles and then his disciples do the same work of healing people from sickness and setting people free from dark forces. We see this in church history. Saints do healing work and communities rejoice. Hundreds of years later, do we see God's healing in our lives? In our community? This Fall, we're going to look at who Jesus is as a healer, but also what it means that God forms healing communities in and through us. This is not merely about physical healing though we'll learn how that, too, is a powerful sign of the Kingdom. This is healing for our minds, emotions, our cities, and our worlds. If you are tired of sickness and eager for health, check out this entire series and ask God for more healing in your life, in our church, and in the world.

We can ask God for full hearts in order to receive deep healing in our very emotional lives. God is near to the brokenhearted, he saves those crushed in Spirit. If you've been keeping an eye on the art market, you know that the industry has been going through some turbulent times... there's really no other way to say it: It's been a tough year, as the frothy post-pandemic surge in the art business has fully retreated.  Amid this market slowdown comes our latest data-packed and information-rich issue of the Mid-Year Intelligence Report, which is appropriately titled The Art Market Reset: Riding the Waves of Change. This Fall issue looks at the numbers behind the mood, and it is packed with relevant insights that will help buyers, sellers, and spectators make informed decisions in the months ahead.  Katya Kazakina, Artnet's award-winning columnist who pens a weekly art market column called The Art Detective is joining Art Angle co-host Kate Brown on the podcast this week to discuss her must read cover story for the new Intelligence Report. In it, she investigates what led to the sharp drop in the demand for art, as well as resale values for once coveted pieces. They discuss how the data reveals a market in free fall, where galleries have been faced with cost-cutting measures, or are shuttering altogether. There are some silver linings in her story, as Katya examines the smart responses that are being made across the industry, revealing how sales tactics are evolving and why some people actually believe that a slowdown in art production is not a bad thing altogether. Before we get to that, a few more words about the rest of the report.  Our illuminating By the Numbers section details how, as compared with last year, there has been a substantial drop in money being spent on Ultra Contemporary art, a downturn in the sales generated by the big three auction houses (Sotheby's, Christie's, and Phillips), fewer artworks selling publicly for over $10 million, and the average price of art at auction is also going down. You can find specific breakdowns in the actual report.  What does it all mean though? News editor Margaret Carrigan, gives a spin-free analysis of the auction stats. Also in this issue, our Editor in Chief Naomi Rea, spoke with Art Basel Paris Fair Director Clément Delépine about what to expect at the revamped art fair, which is moving back into the Grand Palais next month.  Our market reporter, Eileen Kinsella, spoke to Sotheby's Phyllis Kao about how the secondary market is adjusting its working processes amid the flux, and our marketplace section brings you the stories behind the top selling works, and the scoop on artists whose markets are on the rise. Even amid this slump, Artnet's esteemed reporters and editors have worked hard and put together an excellent issue that will help you navigate the current art market season, where the road ahead feels anything but clear.

This is normally a time when we're readying ourselves for the term, often with optimism, energy, and hope for what the new year will bring. But I know I speak for many when I say that this year feels different. This Fall marks almost a year of relentless conflict in Gaza. And rather than a restful summer, students and community members have been actively organizing in solidarity with Palestinians, setting up encampments on university campuses. These encampments have faced harsh crackdowns from university administrations and police. Many have been dismantled. But as we enter the Fall, with a new academic year ahead of us, an American electoral season that is rapidly evolving how people talk about the rights of Palestinians and our own personal stresses and pressures, it's easy to lose sight of the purpose of these encampments and why the attacks on them were so abhorrent. On this special bonus episode of Academic Aunties, we bring you a conversation we head earlier this summer with to talk about the student encampments and protests in support of Palestine at the University Alberta, and hopefully make sense of all of this. Thanks for listening! Get more information, support the show, and read all the transcripts at academicaunties.com. “Before tackling this problem, let me figure out how to make this simple.  It's really not that complicated…” Have you ever taken this approach when dealing with a difficult issue with your family, friends, staff, or coworkers? While this tactic might work in some situations, most complex problems require solutions that reductive thinking simply can't provide. Library and bookstore shelves are brimming with management and leadership books packed with "how-to" lists, buckets, quadrants, and countless linear methods that promise to solve problems easily and efficiently, and take your people and business to the next level. From simplifying decision-making to categorizing leadership styles, these books often present a structured, step-by-step approach that appeals to those looking for quick fixes and plug and play templates. Whether it's procrastination, avoidance, or just the allure of a quick fix, it's time to roll up our sleeves and confront why we keep dipping into this well of oversimplified solutions—because, as Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. And when the real challenges hit, those tidy answers rarely stand up to the blow. In today's podcast, we're taking the gloves off and having a frank conversation about:  Framework hopping, what it is and why people do it Why exposure alone NEVER equates to real skill or competence The long term effects of over relying on simple fixes to solve complex problems How leaning into the thing you're avoiding is the best path forward As always, we love your feedback! Today on the podcast are the fastest twins in the country, Olivia & Andrea Markezich!  Olivia placed 3rd at the 2023 NCAA XC Championships in Charlotte, Virginia, a few months ago. That incredible performance led her team to a 4th place finish! This was also one week after coming down with sickness. A few week short weeks later, she opened up the indoor season with a time of 8:40.42 in the 3k, breaking her own school record which was previously set last season as she ran an 8:50.08. Her time of 8:40.42 also ranks #2 all-time! Last year, Olivia won the 3000M steeplechase at the 2023 NCAA Championships with a remarkable time of 9:25.03, setting a facility record at the University of Texas. Olivia also signed an NIL Deal with On last year. Andrea placed 35th at the 2023 NCAA XC Championships in Charlotte, Virginia, a few months ago, gaining All-American status and helping her team place 4th overall! Before her time at the University of Notre Dame, she ran for UW and was the 2023 Pac-12 10,000m Runner-Up, a part of the 2023 All-America Second Team in the DMR, and in 2022 All-Pac-12 Second Team XC. This Fall, Andrea will be working at Dell Technologies as an Emerging Technologies Specialist in the NGSA Program! Before their time in college, Olivia and Andrea pushed each other consistently on and off the course, helping each other make it to where they're both at today. They re-joined forces this past year when Andrea transferred to Notre Dame to close out her NCAA eligibility (under the condition from Olivia that she dye her hair blonde - more on this in the podcast).  Today's conversation is the definition of wholesome. Two twins chopping it up on their journey in sport and life, and how they've pushed each other through it all. This episode is the perfect mix of serious and insightful while also being incredibly fun and lighthearted.  This episode will make your weekend miles fly by! This Fall, Fellows have been finishing the seminar with The Return of the King. They have discussed closely how the power of friendship achieves the Ring's destruction; they have looked at the extreme limitations of the individual acting alone against superior physical and spiritual force, the unseen hand of Providence coordinating the consequences of many characters' choices, and the despair that results from the modernist claim to autonomy.
