“God doesn't give you more than you can handle.” It sounds comforting, and it’s often said with good intentions. But for many people, it lands like a weight instead of a lifeline. In his sermon, Pastor David confronts that familiar phrase and asks an honest question: Is it actually true? More importantly, is it actually helpful? Sermon God doesn’t […] The post Myth Busters // More You We Can Handle appeared first on Refuge.Church.
This sermon for The Feast of the Holy Innocents (December 28) proclaims the comforting and challenging truth that God's victory is often hidden beneath suffering. https://youtu.be/sGtmnrrv7TgPreached from Matthew 2:16–18 and Revelation 14:1, this message confronts the brutal reality of Herod's massacre while faithfully confessing Christ crucified and risen. The Holy Innocents remind us that the Church does not conquer by strength, visibility, or success, but by the blood of the Lamb. From a confessional Lutheran (LCMS) perspective, this sermon clearly distinguishes Law and Gospel. The Law exposes the murderous hostility of the sinful world toward Christ and His kingdom. The Gospel proclaims that even death cannot undo God's promises, for the Lamb who was slain now reigns. These children, though voiceless, stand among the redeemed, marked by Christ and gathered into His victory. This sermon is especially for those wrestling with grief, suffering, persecution, and unanswered questions. It offers no shallow comfort—only Christ, who enters our suffering and redeems it through His cross. Here the Church learns to see rightly: God's kingdom is present, victorious, and sure, even when hidden.Support this ministry:

We expect to see wickedness in the gutter of society and among the seedy back alleys, but in the place of justice? It is grievous, yet we can trust God's justice as all will die and stand before him. Listen to Pastor David's sermon on Ecclesiastes 3:16-4:3 for more.
God's Absurd Generosity! | Luke 16:1–13 | The Parable of the Dishonest Manager Here's the heart of it all: God Himself is the absurd master. Faced with the tragedy of our sin, He didn't clutch His wealth. He didn't demand repayment. He gave His only begotten Son into the flesh to save us from sin, death, and damnation. Jesus is the true steward who didn't just cut our debts, He paid them in full with His blood. He didn't just ease our burden; He bore it all. He didn't just lower our balance; He stamped across the ledger: “It is finished.” The cross is the most absurd act in history. God's own Son dies for sinners. The guilty go free. The dishonest, the greedy, the selfish, the prayerless, the vain—all forgiven. Absurd. Crazy. Wonderful. Romans: Transforming Power of the Gospel, Pt. 18 – God's Plan for IsraelRomans 11:1–32 | King's Chapel Live StreamRomans 11 raises some of the biggest questions in Scripture. Has God rejected His people Israel? Has their stumbling meant failure? And what does their story mean for us today?Paul answers with hope. God has not rejected His people. He has always kept a faithful remnant saved by grace. Israel's stumbling has even opened the door for the nations to receive the blessing of the gospel. At the center of it all stands Jesus, the true Israel, the promised seed of Abraham, the beloved Son, and the true Vine.In this message, we look at the mystery of God's plan for Israel and His promise that all who believe in Christ, both Jew and Gentile, are brought into His family. The chapter reminds us that God's purposes never fail, His promises are sure, and His mercy is wider than we could imagine. If you have ever wondered how Israel fits into God's plan of salvation, this passage shows us the beauty of God's wisdom and the certainty of His love.Connect with King's Chapel in Longwood, FL- ▶️ www.kingschapelfl.com▶️ https://www.facebook.com/KingsChapelfl▶️ https://www.instagram.com/kingschapelfl/For the GLORY of our Great GodFor the GOOD of our Neighbor
The church is the body of Christ and he has pledged himself to her forever. The church is distinguished by her gospel message, her sacred ordinances, her discipline, her great mission, and, above all, by her love for God, and by her members' love for one another and for the world. Crucially, this gospel we cherish has both personal and corporate dimensions, neither of which may properly be overlooked. Christ Jesus is our peace: he has not only brought about peace with God, but also peace between alienated peoples. The church serves as a sign of God's future new world when its members live for the service of one another and their neighbors, rather than for self-focus.
Romans: Transforming Power of the Gospel, Pt. 16 – God's Sovereign ChoiceRomans 9:1–33 | King's Chapel Live StreamRomans 9 is one of the most sobering and deeply moving chapters in all of Scripture.Paul speaks with heartbreak and hope as he reflects on the sorrow he feels for his people, the Israelites. And yet, within that sorrow is a powerful truth: God's purposes never fail, and His mercy is not bound by human effort or lineage. It is all grace. In this message, we look at the beauty and mystery of God's sovereign choice. We are reminded that salvation is not something we earn or deserve. It is God's work from beginning to end. He is both just and merciful. He chooses freely and graciously. And His righteousness is available to all who believe in Christ. If you've ever wrestled with questions about God's justice, His mercy, or how He works in salvation, this passage invites us to trust that God is good, wise, and always working for His glory.Connect with King's Chapel in Longwood, FL- ▶️ www.kingschapelfl.com▶️ https://www.facebook.com/KingsChapelfl▶️ https://www.instagram.com/kingschapelfl/For the GLORY of our Great GodFor the GOOD of our Neighbor
