Every day over the next seven days in the build up to Sunday's All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final, Galway Bay FM will look back at all of Galway's games in the Leinster Championship and All-Ireland Series.  Today, we start at the beginning when Galway faced Kilkenny in the opening round of the Leinster Championship.  The date was the 18th of April and Micheal Donoghue's Men produced a stunning performance to defeat Kilkenny by 3-25 to 1-16 at a sunny Pearse Stadium. A Rory Burke brace and a goal from Jason Rabbitte crowned what was a fantastic victory for Micheal Donoghue's side. The hosts led by 2-8 to 0-9 at half time, and kicked on after the restart as they get their championship campaign off to the perfect start. The commentary team was Niall Canavan, Sean Walsh, Cyril Farrell and Andy Coen.

As we continue our build up to Sunday's All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final, Galway Bay FM looks back at all of Galway's games in the Leinster Championship and All-Ireland Series. Today, we move to Round Two and a week after their win over Kilkenny, Offaly were the visitors to Pearse Stadium.   Goals from Conor Cooney and Rory Burke provided a buffer for the Tribesmen who topped the table before their first weekend off. May the 9th saw Galway head to Newbridge to face Kildare in a game that saw Galway character come to the fore.  Ten points down at Half Time, it took three second half goals to see Galway come away with the win by nine points on a final score of 4-22 to 1-22.  Galway's goals coming from Rory Burke, Tom Monaghan, Cian Daniels and Conor Whelan as the Tribesmen made it three wins from three in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship. On May 16th, Galway faced Dublin in Pearse Stadium and while the Dubs came away with a 3-16 to 0-21 win,  Offaly's win over Wexford and Kilkenny's win over Kildare meant that Galway and Dublin were guaranteed to finish in the top 3 in Leinster SHC and thus are into the All Ireland series. The Question was....What would happen the following week as Galway still had to play Wexford, Dublin had to play Kilkenny and Offaly had to play Kildare.  Commentary from Sean Walsh, Andy Coen, Niall Canavan and Cyril Farrell.

On May 24th, Galway played their final group game of the Leinster Championship and again had to come from behind to book a place in the Leinster Final. After conceding three early goals on a sunny afternoon, goals from Jason Rabbitte and Conor Cooney helped the Tribesmen come back to win by 2-31 to 3-20.  With Kilkenny losing to the Metropolitians, it meant that Galway would face Dublin in the Leinster Final.  Galway Bay FM's match commentary team, with reaction afterwards, were Sean Walsh, Andy Coen, Cyril Farrell and Niall Canavan.

Saturday the 6th of June saw Galway's Senior Hurlers become Leinster Champions for the first time since 2018 after an impressive 4-29 to 4-15 win over Dublin in Croke Park. Michael Donoghue's side impressed from the start and led by 1-15 to 1-11 at Half Time with the Galway goal coming from Darragh Neary. The second half saw Galway keep Dublin at arm's lengthand further goals from Aaron Niland (a penalty), Conor Cooney and John Fleming secured Galway title and a place in the All-Ireland Semi-Final. We come to our final game as we build up to Sunday's All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final. Saturday, July 4th was a day that will be remembered forever as Galway booked their place in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final for the first time since 2018 with a stunning win over Cork at Croke Park. Galway started well, leading 1-4 to 0-3 after Darragh Neary goaled inside the first 10 minutes. The Tribesmen surrendered that lead when Alan Walsh raised a green flag for the rebels on 24 minutes, but the Westerner's stayed in touch going into half time 1-13 to 1-12 behind. Galway steered ahead down the stretch as nine points without reply with efforts from Cathal Mannion, Tom Monaghan, Conor Whelan, Gavin Lee and Ronan Glennon coupled with a second yellow card for Cork's Darragh Fitzgibbon saw Cork's grip on the game loosen. Conor Cooney rounded off the perfect afternoon for Micheal Donoghue's side as his goal in stoppage time giving Galway a 2-26 to 1-18 win.  The commentary of the game was by Sean Walsh, Cyril Farrell, Niall Canavan and Andy Coen.

Excitement levels in Feakle and Sixmilebridge are ratcheting up, ahead of Sunday's TUS Clare senior hurling final. Sixmilebridge are hoping to lift the Canon Hamilton Cup for a 16th time, in what is their first final appearance since 2020. However, Feakle's absence from the county's hurling showpiece stretches back much farther; the last of their six county titles came in their last final appearance all the way back in 1988, with a 44-year gap being bridged on that day. Sunday's decider in Cusack Park throws in at 3pm – a game you can, of course, hear live on Clare FM. Micheal Donoghue has been ratified as Galway Senior Hurling manager on a four year term. The announcement has just been made following a meeting of the Galway County Board. Micheal will be joined by Francis Forde, Noel Larkin and Eamon O'Shea as backroom staff with one more to be announced in due course.  Galway Bay FM Hurling Commentator Sean Walsh gave his reaction on Over The Line.

It was announced yesterday afternoon that Henry Shefflin was to step down as Galway Senior Hurling Manager after three years in the role.  In a statement, Galway Chairperson Paul Bellew paid tribute to the leadership, energy and commitment Henry had given over the past three seasons adding that Shefflin had been outstanding to deal with and this is reflected by the esteem he is held in by the players, supporters and all involved in Galway GAA. Paul also thanked and acknowledged the massive contribution of Richie O'Neill, Damien Joyce, Kevin Lally and Eamon O'Shea and the wider background team for their efforts during Henry's term. A process to appoint the next Galway Senior Hurling Manager will be put in place shortly. In an interview exclusive to Galway Bay FM Sport, Henry has been speaking to Niall Canavan.
