Excitement levels in Feakle and Sixmilebridge are ratcheting up, ahead of Sunday's TUS Clare senior hurling final. Sixmilebridge are hoping to lift the Canon Hamilton Cup for a 16th time, in what is their first final appearance since 2020. However, Feakle's absence from the county's hurling showpiece stretches back much farther; the last of their six county titles came in their last final appearance all the way back in 1988, with a 44-year gap being bridged on that day. Sunday's decider in Cusack Park throws in at 3pm – a game you can, of course, hear live on Clare FM. Micheal Donoghue has been ratified as Galway Senior Hurling manager on a four year term. The announcement has just been made following a meeting of the Galway County Board. Micheal will be joined by Francis Forde, Noel Larkin and Eamon O'Shea as backroom staff with one more to be announced in due course. It was announced yesterday afternoon that Henry Shefflin was to step down as Galway Senior Hurling Manager after three years in the role. In a statement, Galway Chairperson Paul Bellew paid tribute to the leadership, energy and commitment Henry had given over the past three seasons adding that Shefflin had been outstanding to deal with and this is reflected by the esteem he is held in by the players, supporters and all involved in Galway GAA. Paul also thanked and acknowledged the massive contribution of Richie O'Neill, Damien Joyce, Kevin Lally and Eamon O'Shea and the wider background team for their efforts during Henry's term. A process to appoint the next Galway Senior Hurling Manager will be put in place shortly. In an interview exclusive to Galway Bay FM Sport, Henry has been speaking to Niall Canavan.

This Saturday will see the Galway Hurlers team up with Loughrea based charity Hand in Hand for a special fundraiser. The hurlers will be hosting a Family Fun Day event in Pearse Stadium, Salthill from 12-2pm. They wish to invite all future stars to a “meet and greet” with squad and management members where there will be loads of chances to meet the players, get autographs and selfies and all while supporting a truly deserving cause. There will also be chances to win some great prizes. Hand in Hand Children's Cancer Charity is based in Loughrea, Co Galway. The charity provides practical and emotional support to children and their families who are affected by childhood cancer. Galway Captain Conor Whelan is one of the hurlers who is looking forward to Saturday. He spoke to Niall Canavan.

Saturday evening was a historic one for the New York hurlers as they beat Mayo to win the Connacht Senior Hurling League in the Connacht GAA Dome. Following on from their win over Galway Development on Thursday, Richie Hartnett's side beat Mayo by 2-25 to 2-12. There were six Galway men on the panel in Darragh Hynes, Darren O'Donoghue, Conor Caulfield, David Mangan, Martin Cullen and Gary Corless. Eugene Kyne and Mike Hynes were selectors.
