Drew talks about the nearly three year process that went into making their newest LP, how their songwriting as a band has become more democratic and open, why he'll always return to Miner Street Studios to work with Brian McTear and Amy Morrissey, and how teaching literature and poetry helps him write some of his best lyrics.  'Mirror In The Hallway' is the newest LP from The Naked Sun, and will be available January 30th wherever you get music. The band will play a record release show at the Fallser Club in East Falls on January 30th, alongside McTear and Morrissey's band Bitter Bitter Weeks.

Is it time that Moritz Seider got more serious consideration for Norris Trophy votes...or maybe an even bigger trophy? Tune in as we begin by discussing the Detroit Red Wings and their crazy shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, including production from Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, Patrick Kane, James van Riesmdyk, Alex DeBrincat, Moritz Seider, and others, a lack of goaltending from both Talbot and Merzlikins, blown leads and more from Todd McLellan's squad (4:00). Next, the Red Wings' bounceback win over the Seattle Kraken, including an all 2003 Draft Class goal from Emmitt Finnie, Nate Danielson, and Axel Sandin-Pellikka, Larkin and Danielson both returning after being hit by pucks, John Gibson hanging on for the win, and Andrew Copp, JVR, and Patrick Kane (in a classic Showtime moment called by Ken Daniels) leading the scoring charge. Also, notes on McLellan's team's offensive metrics, upcoming games, & more (16:00). We then take a look at Moritz Seider both by the eye test and the numbers this season, whether he deserves serious Norris Trophy consideration behind Cale Makar and alongside players like Morrissey, Werenski, Heiskanen, and others, how he's helped Simon Edvinsson excel, and whether MVP voting is crazy to think about (29:20). After that, Sebastian Cossa, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, and the Grand Rapids Griffins' record start in the AHL (as well as Rudy Guimond's QMJHL accolades) (39:30), and NHL news including a Quinn Hughes update, Erik Gustafsson trade rumors and what Steve Yzerman might demand in return, and a potential longshot trade target in Phillip Danault (43:10). All of that & lots more before we take your questions and comments in our Overtime segment (54:20) - enjoy! On July 13, 2012, 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey and 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins vanished while riding bikes in Evansdale, Iowa; their bikes and Elizabeth's purse were found hours later at Meyers Lake. Five months later, their remains were discovered 25 miles away in the secluded, locals-only Seven Bridges Wildlife Area, and both deaths were ruled homicides (specific trauma details still sealed). After registered sex offender Michael Klunder abducted and murdered 15-year-old Kathlynn Shepard in 2013 (using a daylight “job offer” ruse similar to the Evansdale case) and then killed himself, he became the prime suspect: he had a prior double toddler abduction, had been released from prison only months before the girls disappeared, and had ties near the body-dump site. Despite striking parallels and claims from prison acquaintances that they saw Klunder in Evansdale, authorities ruled him out in 2013–2014, citing undisclosed evidence placing him at work or home during the abduction window. The case remains unsolved in 2025, with the FBI profiling a single local offender familiar with both sites, new DNA testing underway, and a combined $200,000 reward still active.   Sources: Iowa Cold Cases, Inc. In this podcast episode, we delve into the heartbreaking 2012 disappearance of 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey and her 8-year-old cousin Elizabeth Collins from Evansdale, Iowa, a small, tight-knit community. On July 13, the girls, who were inseparable, vanished while biking near Meyers Lake. Their abandoned bikes and Elizabeth's purse were soon discovered, triggering a massive search involving local police, the FBI, and volunteers. Despite draining the 33-acre lake and canvassing the area, no trace of the girls was found initially. The case, one of only 15 double child abductions in the U.S. from 1970 to 2012, garnered widespread media coverage.   Suspicion briefly fell on Lyric's parents, Dan and Misty, due to their drug-related criminal past and initial reluctance to cooperate fully, including Dan's failed polygraph test (later passed when sober). This focus created tension with Elizabeth's parents and may have slowed the investigation. Five months later, on December 5, 2012, hunters found the girls' remains 25 miles away in Seven Bridges Wildlife Park, confirming a tragic end. The case, believed to involve sexually motivated crimes, remains unsolved. The episode notes a similar 2013 abduction in Dayton, Iowa, 100 miles away, where a 12-year-old's escape provided critical clues, to be explored in part two. Rewards totaling $200,000 are offered for information leading to an arrest or conviction. The host recommends the HBO Max series Taken Together: Who Killed Lyric and Elizabeth? for visuals but warns of sensitive content involving child crimes.   Sources: Iowa Cold Cases, Inc. Hey Regular Guys & Gals, Kev's flying solo for a Lonely Guy Friday edition of RGF. This week, he unpacks how the songs that move you are actually your subconscious trying to speak. He breaks down how Steve Harley's “Make Me Smile” teaches grace over bitterness, Bowie's “Conversation Piece” turns loneliness into connection, and Morrissey's “Cemetery Gates” helps bury old identities so you can finally walk free. PLUS, how the end of a cycle (and a Supermoon) can spark your next act, why cleaning out a closet can clear your soul, and how laughing right after you cry might be your brain's ultimate reset.Kev shares Maria's quiet wisdom that can rewire your outlook and how Priyanka Chopra's dad's advice may be the secret to peace… How the news may tell you the world's ending, but Walmart crowds and wrestling crowds prove otherwise. And how captain Lou Albano reminds us that he is well and never sick! Bye Betches. Craig details the essential resources for family history, starting with the provincial archives at The Rooms, which is named for traditional "fishing rooms." He breaks down the early European settlement, primarily driven by the cod fishery, drawing people from southeast Ireland and southwest England. He also highlights crucial records, including Colonial Office and merchant records, necessary before civil registration began in 1891–92.The episode also covers the impact of industrial change and the significant history of out-migration to the "Boston States," offering advice on tracing ancestors through border documents and digital archives. Craig concludes with a genealogist's "Holy Grail"—the missing 1911 Census and the fire-destroyed Catholic records for Harbour Grace—and stresses the value of methodical, patient research. How We Got Here: Genealogy is hosted by family historian Brian Nash. Detroit only 1 game up on the Cleveland Guardians, Jimmy Kimmel fallout, Charlie Sheen v. Mexican Cartels, new Kanye West documentary, Drew & TMZ Harvey Levin's rocky relationship, and a new show joins the Dabbleverse. We'll cover the Detroit Lions on Tuesday following Monday Night Football. Sports: The Detroit Tigers are suffering an epic MLB collapse in real-time. At least the farm system is good… right? MSU lost in the middle of the night to USC. Michigan defeated Nebraska. Both teams are on a bye next week. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney is terrible. Theo Von is going to nail Diego Pavia's mom. Molly Qerim is hot but out at First Take. It's the 50th anniversary of NFL Today. TMZ weaseled out of an apology for their Charlie Kirk cheering. Jimmy Kimmel Fallout: Donald Trump popped off on David Letterman over the issue. Late Night seems to be one sided… except that one show. Disney president Bob Iger has yet to weigh in on the Kimmel situation. The head of the FCC says The View may be next. Family Feud is sliding right into place. There are too many stupid billionaires these days. Detroit Sports 105.1 alum, Rico Beard, called out a racist on Facebook. Michael Ray Bower (aka Donkeylips) is the latest pathetic YouTuber/podcasting grifter. Buy a Cameo today! The TikTokker who lost a child is back to TikTokking. The Try Guys are pathetic and soft. Charlie Sheen popped up on 60 Minutes Australia and claims Mexican cartels cut him off. He's totally celibate right now. Kanye West comes off like a psycho in his new documentary. There's concern for batshit Britney Spears. It's too late, she's nuts. Alabama Barker claims she has lost a baby, but no-one online seems to believe her. David Geffen wants BranDon's neighbor to go away. Kamala Harris new book, 107 Days, is getting “blowback”. Grant Napear got a raw deal for saying “All Lives Matter”. He finally got a new job. No news on whether Jeremy Kappell has a gig yet. Zac Efron looks different again. Kat Von D looks different too. Brooke Hogan just won't go away and claims she is recording a new album. Morrissey cancels shows as his life is in danger. Charlie Kirk's funeral was held today. D4vd has been linked to Celeste Rivas. Jules lays out her master plan to bag Harry Styles, Ivy confesses her third-grade crush, and we dive deep into the true Morrissey experience. Also on the docket: Courtney Love vs. Patti Lupone (!!), and Ivy explaining why Chappell Roan how and why she’s probably a reactive lesbian. We pressed record and then let Ivy do her thing. The internet's still broken, folks, and apparently, AI's here to make it more awkward. Intel caught a break from Uncle Sam's CHIPS Act, cool for them, not so much for those 'flashing warning signs' in the job market. Meta's been letting celebrity chatbots run wild (and creepy), Midjourney's getting sued by Warner Bros. for stealing IP (who'da thought?), and OpenAI thinks an AI hiring platform is a good idea. Plus, an AI chatbot automated a cybercrime spree, totally unexpected. If you're calling ChatGPT a 'clanker,' you're not wrong, but seriously? Your butt probably needs a break from the toilet.Elon Musk and his joyride of companies continue to make us wonder if we're living in a dystopian satire. Tesla got slapped with a $243 million verdict after rejecting a $60 million settlement (because that's how you make deals, right?). 'Key data' they said they didn't have? A hacker found it. His vague 'master plan' sounds like a last-minute college essay, and software deploys airbags before you crash. His quest for a trillion-dollar pay package is on, and Neuralink can't even trademark 'telepathy.' They're doing brain surgeries in Toronto now. What could go wrong? On the lighter side, Finland built a giant sand battery, which is cool, and iOS 26 finally gave iPads a native Instagram app after, like, forever. We've got movie reviews, TV binges (Wednesday is really good), and a deep dive into KPop Demon Hunters (seriously, listen to the songs). FIFA's jacking up World Cup ticket prices with dynamic pricing (of course they are), and Morrissey's selling his stake in The Smiths (probably to escape his own 'malicious associations'). If you're still reading Usenet threads from '94, you're either a sadist or Dave.Sponsors:CleanMyMac - clnmy.com/Grumpyoldgeeks - Use code OLDGEEKS for 20% off.Private Internet Access - Go to GOG.Show/vpn and sign up today. TBTL: Too Beautiful To Live

After Andrew's failure to help Luke with his stand-up routine, Luke turns to A.I. for some jokes. Plus, Morrissey is ready to sell his stake in the songs he wrote for The Smiths, and you know he's serious because he set-up a gmail account and posted it on Instagram.
