I had a chance to chat with Mills from the Flaming Lotus Girls (www.flaminglotusgirls.com) at Bay Area Maker Faire 2023 and see their art piece, Serenity, with interactive flaming firefly sculptures built by students in the San Francisco Area. Flaming Lotus Girls are a collective of makers that teach women how to work with metal. Their pieces are well known at Burning Man and all over the West Coast. Winona! Wheedon! Pearlman! And this is the Alien film people don't talk about...the reasons why? Well we go into it here. Before he made Amelie but after Delicatessen and City Of Lost Children, Jean-Pierre Jeunet was brought in to direct from a Joss Whedon script. All they had to do was relaunch the Alien franchise and the character of Ripley herself after the seemingly definitive events of Alien 3. In this episode: -Family Friendly Alien spin-offs -Serenity/Firefly dry runs -How not to kill clones -And, of course weird Alien baby Remind yourself of the film here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_Resurrection We are an independent podcast, so remember and subscribe, rate and review the show wherever you get your podcasts. (Recorded Jan 25th) We're discussing our expectations of the new afro-futurist comic book movie, Black Panther! Our expectations and concerns with the heavy handed marketing campaign. It's episode 61, ya'll! This week we discuss movie sequels to TV shows. The new Entourage movie gave us the idea but as neither of us has ever seen the show, it is not a movie we discuss. May your expectations readjust. IN THEATERS Hot Pursuit - Uneven but there are some laugh-out-loud moments. THEME MOVIES Recess: School's Out - Totally charming if you grew up with the Recess gang. Serenity - Firefly was great and this is just more great. Sex and the City - There are no words. Wait, no. There are lots and lots of words. Veronica Mars - Works even if you haven't seen the show! There was definitely one thing we all agreed on. Regardless of how he left, it was good to see Shamar make his exit which also resulted in many of you voting karma as "Player of the Week". Reviews on Laura's departure were mixed. Many valued her for her strategic play, but the exit interviews left many wondering how much of that was favorable editing. We had some good back-n-forth on the classic strength versus loyalty question, and opinions for the season overall are still generally positive with much credit being given to the return of serious water challenges. For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. Nineteen fans shared their thoughts on episode 4 and predictions for what we'll see next. We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great Listener Feedback show.
