Join us on a thrilling journey through the heart of Africa in this episode of Misadventures of a Sneaker. Our amazing guest for this episode, Anagha Deshpande, takes us on a vivid expedition, painting a vibrant picture of her unforgettable vacation filled with diverse experiences across Tanzania and South Africa. Beginning in Tanzania, Anagha embarked on an awe-inspiring safari adventure, exploring the iconic Ngorongoro, Serengeti, and Tarangire National Parks. With each safari drive, they encountered a mesmerizing array of wildlife, from majestic lions and elusive leopards to graceful giraffes, zebras and herds of elephants. Next stop: Zanzibar. The couple started with a heritage tour of the UNESCO certified Stonetown of Zanzibar and then headed straight to the white sand beaches of this enchanting island paradise. But the adventure didn't stop there. Venturing further south, Anagha and her husband explored the captivating city of Cape Town, where they embarked on a scenic road trip along the famed Garden Route. From Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn and the gorgeous sunset at the Cape of Good Hope – it was a breathtaking drive. The journey reached its climax at the southernmost tip of Africa, L'Agulhas, where they witnessed the dramatic meeting of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans – a memory of a lifetime! Through Anagha's captivating storytelling and vivid descriptions, we invite you to join us on this unforgettable African adventure, where every moment was filled with awe, wonder, and the spirit of exploration. Sauti Za Busara means “sounds of wisdom.” That gives a clue to the music heard at the annual Sauti Za Busara festival in Stonetown, Zanzibar. It's cool, savvy, surprising but never dull, and often hard-grooving. Afropop Worldwide attended the first edition in 2004. In 2023, we returned for a three-day feast of fantastic performances from the Swahili coast, the Indian Ocean and beyond. Taarab, kidumbak, Bongo Flava, Wagogo tradition and much more were on the menu. In this program, we hear live recordings from and meet artists who may never make it to our shores, but who you'll be glad to meet. Produced by Banning Eyre.
