Alan Donovan welcomes Andrew Rainey and Summer Johnson to the Father's Truth podcast in order to discuss the joys, challenges and complexities of fatherhood in today's world. Andrew is a former Mayor of Peacekill New York, the chair of the New York affiliate national Parenting Organization, and the vice president of Fathers Are Important. Summer is a paralegal, public affairs professional, CEO, and co-founder of New York Families for Tomorrow. After introducing them both, they start to discuss how fatherhood has changed over the years and what can be done to support fathers and their families. They also discuss the importance of advocating for fathers' rights and the need to bring the father's truth out of the darkness and into the light. They end by agreeing that fatherhood is an important and rewarding role, and that there are many ways to help fathers become better parents. Alan is excited to be speaking with Andre and Summer, two individuals who are doing great work in the community. Andre has been working alongside Arcadio, a good friend of Alan's, to bring about positive change. Summer has been formally educated in policy in order to be more effective in lawmaking in New York State. The two of them have been busy fine-tuning bills and finding the best possible verbiage, as well as compiling research for their efforts. The conversation is about the need for people to understand and break down the research and facts on father's rights in order to make sense of it, even for lawmakers. Andre is great at getting messages across in a political way and has the political experience to back it up. The speaker mentions they have been working on this for almost a decade and sending out emails to senators and representatives, but got no replies. They are now looking into running for office locally to try and make a difference. This conversation is about the importance of making connections in the political community. Alan makes the point that modern politics is based on favors and favors, and Summer discusses her experience with the politics in New York. They both agree that the division between the two parties is disgusting and that the media plays a role in this by portraying them as opposites. Jordan adds that to make progress on social issues, it is necessary to bring awareness of the research and statistics to the political community, in order to influence change. They conclude that if the world wasn't so divided, a lot more would be able to get done. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thefatherstruth/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thefatherstruth/support
