All individuals were charged or convicted of sex offenses involving minors. This number exceeds the total arrests for similar offenses in the entire previous fiscal year (211 arrests). The arrests are attributed to a multi-agency targeting initiative launched under the Trump administration, aimed at removing “the worst of the worst” criminal aliens. Last week, President Donald Trump announced America's AI action plan, emphasizing that the country must not allow China or any other nation to surpass it. The plan consists of three key components: accelerating innovation, building data centers and other artificial intelligence infrastructure, and leading in international diplomacy and security. Congressman Jay Obernolte (R-CA), co-chair of the U.S. Congressional Artificial Intelligence Task Force, joins the discussion to explore the framework and how the U.S. can win the AI race. The U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HHS) recently reviewed over 350 organ transplant cases managed by Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates, which is now called Network for Hope, and found a disturbing trend. The report shows one hundred cases having what they called "concerning features," including examples of donors still showing neurological signs, and entailing that an organ procurement processes began for patients before they were officially declared deceased. A half-dozen Maryland Congress members were denied access to a federal immigration field office used to temporarily hold people facing deportation this week. Maryland has become a focus of politics of immigration due to the suspected MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who is a Salvadoran illegal immigrant currently on trial for human trafficking charges in Tennessee. This latest attempt to randomly visit an ICE facility was blasted by DHS Secretary Noem who said they just wanted a photo-op with a 'violent criminal'. While there appears to be some progress in America's war on fentanyl, overdose deaths related to the synthetic drug remain alarmingly high, especially among young people. We cannot wait until 2029 with a new Democrat president to somehow deal with political persecution when we have no tools in our arsenal. We must build for that today. Unfortunately, as Trump continues to make bad endorsements, we will be left with weak Republicans in red states to fight issues such as political weaponization. Moreover, we are not even changing things at the federal level. We're joined by former FBI whistleblower Steve Friend, who is warning that the FBI has not structurally changed its modus operandi. He observes how problematic personnel under Biden have been given promotions, the open-ended investigatory mandate has not been limited, and at the same time, none of the misdeeds under Obama and Biden have been punished. Absent federal reform, Friend is advocating that state governments condition their working relationship with the FBI to a framework in which elected sheriffs are in charge of task forces targeting people locally.
