Sunday Sermon by Kevin Jensen — It's a sad story of God's judgment: The last four kings of Judah continued Judah's overall trajectory away from God, their true King. Finally, Judah became so filled with sin and wickedness that God was no longer willing to forgive, and he brought destruction on Judah. Even then, though, God was looking for an opportunity to redeem his people in the future. Text: 2 Kings 23:31 to 25:30

Sunday Sermon by Kevin Jensen — King Josiah served God from a young age, but when he heard the words of God's law for the first time, he devoted himself and his nation to God all the more. Because he humbled himself and turned to God, God gave Judah one last chance to do right before he brought his judgment upon them. We, too, often need one last chance—and God readily gives it if we humble our hearts and seek him. Text: 2 Kings 22:1 to 23:30

Sunday Sermon by Kevin Jensen — Our God does amazing things, and when Manasseh, the most wicked king that Judah ever had, repented, God did another amazing thing: He forgave him! The recognition that God could forgive as evil a person as Manasseh gives us hope that God will forgive us, too, as we repent of our sin and turn to him. Text: 2 Chronicles 33

Sunday Sermon by Kevin Jensen — Hezekiah was a man of great faith, yet he, like we do sometimes, faced enormous troubles that threatened to overwhelm him—and not only him, but also Jerusalem and the entire nation of Judah. How did he respond? Hezekiah stumbled a little at first, but later he prayed, then prayed again. And God responded to the king's faith and rescued Jerusalem. Text: 2 Kings 18-19

Sunday Sermon With Pastor J.T.
Sunday Sermon by Kevin Jensen — The sisters Martha and Mary, when their brother Lazarus became sick, quickly sent an urgent message to Jesus to let him know. But Jesus, who could have healed Lazarus, did not come in time. In response—even though they had great faith—the sisters were deeply disappointed. We, too, are disappointed with God sometimes. What should we do when God lets us down, when he doesn't meet our expectations of a good and loving God? Text: John 11:1-44

REVIEW: “What did you take away from last time?” [Refer to the things you discussed last time.] "How did that go?” Sermon Summary: Having Faith During Suffering Main Passage: Hebrews 10:32-39 D-Group Questions: TRUTH – Time Keller says that the world sees Jesus as useful, but the Christian (followers) see Jesus as beautiful. How does that speak to you? REPENTANCE – The author of Hebrew reminds us that shrinking back from costly love is evidence of our lack of intimate knowledge of Jesus. Currently, are you in pursuit of anything less than the person of Jesus? How is that going? FAITH - The persecuted Christians in Hebrews were reminded and invited to know someone who is trustworthy and who keeps their promises. How do you see Jesus as more beautiful than other thoughts and truths in moments of suffering? RESPOND. Ask God, how can today's discussion further your relationship with God, one another, and the world? Pray together. [Record responses and prayer requests.]
Sunday Sermon by Kevin Jensen — If Jesus were personally coming to your house to stay a while, what would you do? Sweep the floor? Send the kids to stay with the grandparents? Martha opened her home to Jesus, and she was busy and worried because of all the preparations that needed to be made—and upset because her sister Mary was not helping her! Yet Jesus said Mary had chosen to do something even better, something we, in all our busyness, should do as well. Text: Luke 10:38-42

Sunday Sermon by Kevin Jensen — Paul, as an apostle of Jesus, could have ordered Philemon to do the right thing and receive his runaway slave back mercifully. But Paul did not exercise his apostolic authority; he did not take a confrontational, forceful approach. He took a soft approach, as Jesus did with us and modeled for us to do with one another. Text: Philemon

Sunday Sermon by Kevin Jensen — One day, Philemon's runaway slave, Onesimus, returned to Philemon's home with a letter from the apostle Paul. Runaway slaves were usually punished harshly, but Paul asked Philemon to receive Onesimus back graciously. Why? And why did Paul send Onesimus back to his master at all? What do Paul's instructions to Philemon teach us today about our relationships with one another in the family of God? Text: Philemon
