The sovereign rule of God is manifested just as much in tragedy as it is in prosperity. Today, R.C. Sproul calls us to reflect on the providence of God in every circumstance, including our pain and sorrow, so that we may mature in wisdom. I was listening to Fr. Mike Schmitz talking about the five second rule in regard to food on the floor. But, at the same time I was reading a book about a different five second rule that can literally change your life, in five seconds. ---------- Hi there! Trapper Jack here. You are familiar with the five second rule, right? It's when you drop a piece of food on the floor and proclaim, ‘five second rule,' and it now becomes OK to eat. But there is another five second rule. While talking to Jenny, a God incident occurred, and a reference to a book called the Five Second Rule. Jenny heard something that she needed to hear to change her prayer life and deepen her relationship with God. It's one of those Touched by Heaven moments that's within the Touched by Heaven Podcast. It's always so cool when it happens. And it happens more than once in this episode. Amid all of this is Jenny's story. We see the hand of God in finding her husband. We see the hand of God in Jenny's dreams. We once again see how our angels protect us and help guide us. I love this conversation Because everything we want and pray for is right there at our fingertips … In about five seconds. Enjoy the podcast. ---------- Share Your Story If you have a Touched by Heaven moment that you would like to share with Trapper, please leave us a note at https://touchedbyheaven.net/contact Our listeners look forward to hearing about life-changing encounters and miraculous stories every week. 1/19/2025 Paul Bang Nehemiah 2:1-8 2 In the month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was before him, I took up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad in his presence. 2 And the king said to me, “Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of the heart.” Then I was very much afraid. 3 I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' graves, lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?” 4 Then the king said to me, “What are you requesting?” So I prayed to the God of heaven. 5 And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' graves, that I may rebuild it.” 6 And the king said to me (the queen sitting beside him), “How long will you be gone, and when will you return?” So it pleased the king to send me when I had given him a time. 7 And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, let letters be given me to the governors of the province Beyond the River, that they may let me pass through until I come to Judah, 8 and a letter to Asaph, the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the fortress of the temple, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall occupy.” And the king granted me what I asked, for the good hand of my God was upon me.

WAIT CONFERENCE 2025|| UNDERSTANDING WORSHIP BEYOND MUSIC|| SESSION 3|| CHIMDI M. OHAHUNA Welcome to this Session of WAIT CONFERENCE ‘25. In previous sessions, we considered the profound meaning of worship derived from the Greek word, proskuneo. This term embodies the act of kissing the hand in reverence, a gesture prevalent among orientals, especially the Persians. It also signifies falling upon the knees and touching the ground with the forehead—expressions of profound reverence. The recurring theme here is reverence, underscoring that true worship is about profound respect and admiration for God. If a song is sung without reverence, it fails to be an act of worship. Worship must be embodied in our actions, our bodies serving as living offerings. The King James Version refers to this as a "living sacrifice," which constitutes our reasonable service or worship. Worship involves kneeling or prostrating to pay homage, express respect, or supplicate. When we worship by kissing God's hand, we show respect, politeness, courtesy, admiration, and devotion to Him—reflecting our respect for God's love. This act signifies formal submission and a pledge of allegiance. In this session, we further look into into the concept of worship as formal submission and allegiance to God. The Bible tells us that God is a spirit (John 4:24), and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth. Worship begins in our spirit but must also be manifested in our bodies as living offerings. True worship signifies total submission to God and absolute allegiance to His will. When born again, we are translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of Christ Jesus, becoming worshipers in spirit. The unbeliever cannot worship God; only believers can worship the Lord as they are initiated into the spirit of worship. Our spirit man worships continuously, as worship is inherent in our new nature. Paul's declaration, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain," reflects a state of total submission and allegiance to Christ. Worship extends beyond singing, rhythm, and music; it embodies total allegiance and submission to God's will. True worship aligns our bodies with the life of the spirit. Being born again places us in the same diplomatic realm with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, enabling us to worship God. Only those within God's family can worship Him. Presenting our bodies as living offerings is a privilege exclusive to God's diplomatic cadre, allowing us to reason with Him. Worship is understanding our place within God's diplomatic realm, as only those in His family can worship Him in spirit and in truth. The fellowship of the Holy Spirit is akin to kissing the Holy Spirit, sealed by the Father. Worship may or may not involve singing or music, but it is always an act of reverence. Worship also means honoring God with ourselves. The Bible instructs us to honor the Lord with our substance and the first fruits of our increase. Our bodies are the first substance God seeks. When we honor God with our bodies, all other offerings—whether money, gifts, or services—carry the aroma of honor before God. If we fail to honor God with our bodies, other offerings lack this aroma of honor, as evidenced by Cain's unpleasing sacrifice to the Lord. This session is a clarion call to worship God by honoring Him with our bodies, reflecting respect and reverence. Join us in this journey of true worship, where we align our bodies and spirits in total submission and allegiance to the will of God. Jesus is Lord.

The Hand of God in Uncertain Times
"The Providential Hand of God"Craig FordJanuary 5, 2025
An episode from Berean Baptist Church, an independent body of King James Bible believers located in Springfield Missouri. We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible and God-breathed, and therefore are the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man. The Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning. We believe that God's Word has been divinely preserved in the English language and commonly known as the Authorized King James Version. Therefore, the Authorized King James Version shall be the official and only translation used by the church. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21). We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam's sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and, that man is totally depraved, and of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:22-23, 5:12, 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-3, 4:17-19). We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-10; I Peter 1:18-19). We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ forever (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Romans 8:1, 38-39; I Cor.1: 4-8; I Peter 1:4-5). We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word, which, however clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh (Romans 13:13-14; Galatians 5:13; Titus 2:11-15). We believe in that “blessed hope,” the personal, imminent return of Christ who will rapture all believers prior to the seven-year tribulation period. At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will personally and visibly return with His saints, to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom, which was promised to the nation of Israel (Psalm 89:3-4; Daniel 2:31-45; Zechariah 14:4-11; I Thessalonians 1:10, 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Revelation 3:10, 19:11-16, 20:1-6). The Berean Baptist Church Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final authority of all that we believe. We do believe, however, that this statement of faith accurately represents the teaching of the Bible. In 1939, with the recent outbreak of war for Britain, King George VI sought in his Christmas Day radio broadcast to encourage citizens of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth to put their trust in God. Quoting a poem that his mother found precious, he said: “Go out into the darkness, and put your hand into the Hand of God. / That shall be to you better than light, and safer than a known way.” He didn’t know what the new year would bring, but he trusted God to “guide and uphold” them in the anxious days ahead. The image of God’s hand appears in many places in the Bible, including in the book of Isaiah. Through this prophet, God called His people to trust that He as their Creator, “the first and . . . the last” (Isaiah 48:12), remains involved with them. As he says, “My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens” (v. 13). They should put their trust in Him and not look to those less powerful. After all, He’s their “Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel” (v. 17). Whatever we face as we look toward the new year,* we can follow the encouragement of King George and the prophet Isaiah and place our hope and trust in God. Then, for us too, our peace will be like the river, our “well-being like the waves of the sea” (v. 18).

Hebrews 10:10-12 By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God. The author's focus in these verses is the contrast between the ministry of the priests under the Law, the old covenant, and the ministry of Jesus, our high priest, in establishing the new covenant. The single, once for all, sacrifice of Jesus wasn't like the sacrifices repeatedly offered by the priests in the temple. But more importantly, the sacrifice of Jesus actually took away sins, whereas all those sacrifices made in the temple never took away sins. Also notice that the priest stood daily, continually working because the sacrifices weren't able to satisfy God's justice. After offering Himself, once for all time, Jesus sat down on the seat of authority in the heavenlies at the right hand of God. The apostle Peter echoed this glorious exaltation of Christ, who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him (1 Peter 3:22). If Jesus has sat down, then His work as a priest is finished and complete. Nothing more could be added to it. Let's make an application of this truth to our lives. Consider Jesus offered one sacrifice, His body, for sins for all time. Now consider all of your sins committed in your entire life taken away. That's right; they don't exist. They are gone. They have vanished. What else does Jesus have to do to present you before His Father, blameless, spotless, and holy forever? You're right again. Nothing! What is your response to having freely received such a generous gift of righteousness? It means you can go to Him for help at any time because His sacrifice sanctified you for all time. Do you need grace to love your husband well? Do you need grace to love your wife like Christ loved the church? Do you need grace to love and honor your parents? It's at your fingertips. It's as close as a prayer. The veil to the Holy of Holies has been torn in two, and you can transition from earth to heaven in a heartbeat. You have been raised up and seated with Christ in God, wrote Paul to the Colossians. Your life is hidden there in Christ. My encouragement today from these verses is that because Jesus has offered Himself for sins for all time, you can go to Him for help at any time for the rest of your time on earth. When we fix our eyes on Jesus as our source of life, we can experience and express His love freely and powerfully. Live to love with Him, seated at the right hand of God.

Nehemiah 2:1-8 (ESV)
In Daniel 5, we read a cautionary account as relevant as ever. Each of us has a tendency to trust in ourselves instead of God. This false sense of independence blinds us and sets us up for disaster. But, there is hope to be found in surrendering to a God who can be trusted with everything.
