On this special Baptism Sunday at Calvary Orlando, we celebrate lives made new in Christ and reflect on why baptism still matters today. From wooden watermelon tanks to rivers and oceans, the place doesn't matter—the surrender does. In this message, we revisit Jesus' command in Matthew 28, explore the power of baptism as a visual sermon, and ask: Are you ready to fully surrender?
Matthew 3:13-17 We love Baptism Sunday because it's not just about individual stories of faith; it's a powerful reminder of God's ongoing work in our community. This week, we continue our series on Being the Body of Christ by exploring a surprising baptism: the baptism of Jesus. Why would Jesus, who had no sin, submit to baptism meant for sinners? What does His baptism reveal about God's redemptive plan, the unity of the Trinity, and our place in His kingdom? Join us as we unpack this pivotal moment in Matthew's Gospel and hear inspiring testimonies of new life and obedience. Pastor Devan Scollon

Baptism Sunday | Nathan Herndon | 05.11.25 by ProvidenceCommunityChurch
Celebrating the sacraments is all about recognizing the work of Jesus in our lives through the gospel. Those being baptized are taking a significant step of faith by identifying with Jesus in baptism to express outwardly what has already taken place inwardly by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. By sharing communion together, we take time to remember what Jesus accomplished for us by grace in His death on the cross and through His resurrection.
It's just your boys Andrew Larsen and Frank Gil today, and oh boy, there's a lot to unpack from an emotional, exciting Sunday! Lakeview's Baptism Sunday brought the celebration vibes! Tim brought the Word, preaching on spiritual gifts... and in true Morning After fashion, Frank somehow got thrown under the theological bus and labeled a cessationist. (Spoiler alert: he took it like a champ. Mostly.) Meanwhile over at Safety Harbor, it was a bittersweet morning. Andrew and the church family had to say goodbye to a beloved couple who have been a pillar of ministry and community life for years. Lots of hugs. Maybe even a manly tear or two.
Baptism Sunday Romans 6:1-11 (NLT)“Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.”
In week two of our series on the book of Mark, Pastor Kevin shares the story of John the Baptist on this Baptism Sunday. In Mark 1:4-8, John encourages others to get baptized so they can get ready for Jesus. It's one way Christians can repent and show their obedience to the Lord.
