Success does not have to come at the expense of my own well being.  I can be healthy, happy and successful.  Slowing down is not weakness.  Being willing to see things differently is okay.  My career doesn't have to look like everyone else's. Tanya Wheeless is the former CEO of the Arizona Bankers Association (a job she had at age 27!) and an Executive with the Phoenix Suns.  She left those high powered and high profile jobs after burnout began taking over.  Then she made a drastic life change.  “Mostly I've … changed what I count as success,”  Wheeless explains. “Success does not have to come at the expense of my own well being.  I can be healthy, happy and successful. Slowing down is not weakness. Being willing to see things differently is okay.  My career doesn't have to look like everyone else's.” Since leaving her corporate jobs, Wheeless launched a company called Happy Grace. https://www.happygrace.com/ She works as an Executive Life Coach and helps people, mainly women, organize and strategize what success means to them.  One of her mentors and coaches, Martha Beck https://marthabeck.com/blog/, once shared words of wisdom that stayed with Tanya Wheeless to this day.  “You have to go through the ring of fire to come out the other side.” In this 40 minute interview, we talk about how to have what Wheeless calls conscious ambition:  (1) Be decisive and collaborative(2) Hustle AND flow(3) Be analytical and creative (4) Less push more allowing(5) Treat yourself like you treat your most important clientWheeless says, “If you want a different life, decide to make it different.” For more on Tanya Wheeless you can visit https://www.facebook.com/MyHappyGrace/ https://www.instagram.com/myhappygrace/   The post Conscious Ambition with Tanya Wheeless appeared first on Inspired Media 360 TV - Inform | Inspire | Engage.

TSBC Alum, Tanya Wheeless is the founder of Happy Grace and author of three workbooks on soulful living. She has leveraged her decades of experience as a CEO, senior executive in the NBA, and community leader to teach women how to live the good life while struggling to balance work and family.   In 2016, Tanya saw a need in the market for physical products that busy women could use daily to motivate and center themselves. With that, Happy Grace was born! She took all of her coaching goodness, combined it with her love of paper and created a beautiful line of guided journals, inspiration decks, lip balms and more. When she’s not working, you can find her traveling the globe with her husband and son.   On today’s episode, Tanya shares why she never wanted to be an entrepreneur, how she’s weaved both products and services into her business and why she prioritizes and invests in professional development. ON TODAY’S EPISODE: How she became an entrepreneur when she didn’t originally want to be one The catalyst to starting her own business The first service she offered The physical products that Happy Grace offers Why design almost kept her from pursuing physical products What the design process is like for her products Tanya’s coaching services and how they have shifted over time The importance of wellness self-care Happy Grace’s new digital membership program Why it’s important for her to invest in professional development What Tanya finds most challenging about being an entrepreneur How she has updated her brand story Tanya’s advice for someone just getting started in a product-based business What’s next for Happy Grace KEY TAKE-AWAYS: “In my mind, I wanted to show up every day, know what I was supposed to do, know that the paycheck was going to be there, and have a ladder that I could climb because I'm all about climbing ladders.” - Tanya Wheeless “I can't figure out Asana. I can't do Trello. And you know what? We got through. We used Google Docs. We used Gmail. It was all fine.” - Tanya Wheeless “Timeout on the “shoulds” and really get clear about what you actually need, because I think every team's different, and I do not believe there's one way to do this whole entrepreneurship thing.” - Tanya Wheeless “Product's a whole different ballgame because I had to outlend a lot of money before I ever had anything to sell — designers, production, and my coaching funded that.” - Tanya Wheeless “We tend to think that there are two of us. There's work Katie, and then there's mom Katie, and there's not. There's just one Katie.” - Tanya Wheeless “It feels safe for people to hire a leadership coach or an executive coach but what I know most of us really need is more of that wellness self-care.” - Tanya Wheeless “Mental health, self-care, just being kind to ourselves is such an important facet for all of us regardless of whether we're an entrepreneur or not.” - Katie Hunt “It's okay to have your hands in multiple things until you find the thing that really excites you, and that you can make sustainable and fuel yourself financially as well as like in your heart.” - Katie Hunt “If you are a newbie, go to Paper Camp because the women and the men that you are going to meet, some of them will be at your level, but so many are going to be far ahead.” - Tanya Wheeless “There's so much value in being curious and learning about things that may be of interest to you because even finding out, "No, that's not for me," is incredibly valuable.” - Katie Hunt “One of the things that I did not appreciate when I started, Katie, was the importance of me and my brand, and people having a connection with who I was and what I was about.” - Tanya Wheeless “When people were exposed to me, when they got my personality, when they saw my passion what I was doing, they lined up to buy my product.” - Tanya Wheeless “Know that everyone started exactly where you started with an idea, with your computer, and with a hope that someday someone was going to send your card to someone for a meaningful birthday.” - Tanya Wheeless “Be patient with yourself because it's not as easy as everyone else is making it look.” - Tanya Wheeless   CONNECT WITH TANYA WHEELESS Website: http://www.happygrace.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MyHappyGrace Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/myhappygrace/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/MyHappyGrace Twitter: https://twitter.com/MyHappyGrace   LINKS: The One Thing: https://amzn.to/2NNYj6E Essentialism: https://amzn.to/2wKR9ti Big Magic: https://amzn.to/2wH1ju8 Soul Pancake: http://soulpancake.com/ Funny or Die: https://www.funnyordie.com/ Indigo Faire: https://www.faire.com/ Pinners Conference: https://www.pinnersconference.com/ Magnolia: https://magnolia.com/ Digital Lizard: http://www.digitallizard.com/ PAPER CAMP What if you could sit in a room with 30 other product makers who are doing exactly what you’re doing -- building a business they love!  You could share resources, leverage each other’s experiences and learn from those who are where you want to be. Good enough can really be the enemy of happiness. – Tanya Wheeless On this episode of the Plan Simple Meals Podcast, I’m really excited to talk with Tanya Wheeless, the founder and CEO of HappyGrace about happiness. Tanya tells about excelling in law school and in her law career, applying for a CEO position at age 27 and getting it, and pushing herself to new heights and loving it … until it didn’t feel good. She shares how she found herself crying every day and realizing something needed to change. So she made that change and now helps other women find their way to happiness. Her top piece of advice when you realize that things could be better: give yourself a break. If you are used to pushing yourself to the next place you want to be, switch gears—don’t get aggressive about getting happy. To be different you have to do different. We talk about: Letting go of things you can’t control The magic of 90 days Tanya’s GLOW Method (Gratitude, Letting go, Owning it, With love) Fresh prompts for gratitude, like what went wrong today that turned out okay? Creating a gratitude practice at dinner Finding quiet time every day How dreaming more opens things up BIO Tanya Wheeless is the Founder and CEO of Happy Grace, a company whose products give women a simple daily system to keep their souls healthy, happy and refreshed. A passionate speaker, writer and entrepreneur, Tanya’s mission is simple: help every woman become the woman of her dreams by applying the ancient wisdom and cutting-edge research that changed her own life. LINKS Tanya’s workbooks Text “Happy Now” to 33222 to get daily motivation Doable Changes from this episode: PRACTICE GRATITUDE DAILY. There are lots of ways to do this, and none of them have to take a lot of time. You can say a prayer, write in a journal, add things you are grateful for to an app. You can even integrate your gratitude practice into something else you already do—like sharing gratitude part of family dinner. FIND QUIET TIME EVERY DAY. Every day take 10–15 minutes for yourself where you can just be in silence and breathe. You can meditate or just be quiet. That might mean getting up 15 minutes before your family to have your quiet time or sitting alone in your car for 10 minutes when you get home before you go in. Just give yourself that time. MAKE SPACE TO DREAM. Let yourself dream about what life could be like. Own what you want, even if you can’t imagine how you could get there. Simply owning your dreams starts to create space. REALLY getting healthy as a family can be a big lifestyle change. But no matter how insurmountable it may feel, focusing on one doable change at a time can help you take small steps toward your big goal. A healthy lifestyle is really made of lots of little things that when repeated regularly and added together over time make a huge impact on your life. Choose one Doable Change every Sunday night — one thing that you are willing to play with for the week. The key is to keep it doable and fun! Write that thing on a sticky note or your phone so you remember it. Then put 3 things on your calendar that support it. Choose from the changes above or download a list of 101 Doable Changes we made for you. http://plansimplemeals.com/101-doable-changes/

Tanya Wheeless, CEO of Happy Grace, shares her journey to happiness.  It didn't happen overnight! Following law school, she went to work for one of her clients as CEO for Arizona Bankers Association, which then led her to working as the Senior Vice President for the Phoenix Suns. While with the Suns, Wheeless mentored the players with off-court development.  Through this, she realized her true passion was to help others succeed. This realization was the starting point to where Tanya Wheeless is today. She's happy with her life and filled with gratitude. To others Wheeless had it all. She was successful in her career, had a nice home and a wonderful family, but she wasn't happy. Wheeless' breaking point came while she was on a run and began to cry.  Something needed to change. She decided to take a year off work to figure out her true calling. “I don't know that things were missing … the problem was that I wasn't seeing the blessings that were right in front of me,”  Wheeless shares in her interview with Carey Pena. “By making small changes in ourselves,” Wheeless says, “we allow the peace and happiness into our lives that is right in front of us.” Tanya Wheeless went back to work to begin another chapter of her life as an Executive Coach. She traveled across the country and worked with some high-level professionals.  She noticed many were having the same struggles that she had been through – searching for happiness. Tanya Wheeless hopes her company, Happy Grace, which includes coaching and a line of journals, will help people take notice of what is not working in their lives – this includes being kind to yourself and letting go of what you can't control. “It is not possible to be angry or unhappy when you are in a place of gratitude,” Wheeless says.  “I love who I am more than I ever have.” The post How To Notice What Is Not Working In Your Life.
