Eva Addae - I'm thrilled to welcome Eva Addae back to the podcast. Eva is the Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Summit Prep, a tutoring company based in Summit, New Jersey. As you may recall, Eva was a guest on podcast #28 in December 2019, before the world turned upside down. Today we come back together to talk how the pandemic is affecting standardized testing and what those tests look like going forward as of now. If you have a child who is a junior or senior in high school, you're going to want to tune in for this episode. Eva and I have been talking about doing this episode since March, and we bring it to you today as there are more finalized details to share. Please do remember to reach out to Eva and look at the testing sites for up to date information as you progress on your testing journey. I encourage you to go back to episode 28 to hear more about Eva and her tutoring company's "whole person" approach - where they aim to show students love, respect, and empathy in order to cultivate their humanity as well. Eva is a graduate from the University of Chicago. Following some time in the corporate world, she discovered her passion for teaching when she led a few local students in achieving incredible success on their SATs & ACTs. Dissatisfied with the “one size fits all” approach to tutoring, Eva set out to create modern teaching methodologies, techniques and motivating systems that reflect the same process. Along with her business partner, David, they developed the company’s Adaptive Learning Indexes from over 20 years of past SATs & ACTs. A decade and hundreds of students later, she proudly boasts an average score increase of 8 points on the ACT and 220 points on the SAT. Her personal philosophy is “only by knowing how one learns can knowledge be imbued and the joy of education discovered.” Today we talk about standardized testing during the pandemic. Diana Spalding - Motherly - Today I welcome Diana Spalding to the podcast. Diana is a midwife, the Digital Education Editor at Motherly, and the author of the newly released book, hot off the presses this week, The Motherly Guide to Becoming Mama: Redefining the Pregnancy, Birth, and Postpartum Journey. THIS is the resource I wish I had when I was trying to get pregnant, was pregnant and after I had my babies. According to Motherly's 2019 State of Motherhood survey, 85% of mothers believe our society does not do a good job of supporting them. Motherly asked thousands of women in their community what they needed in a pregnancy and birth book and also consulted with dozens of experts - Ob-gyns, Fertility Specialists, Pediatricians, Doulas, Lactation Consultants, and more. This collective wisdom shaped The Motherly Guide to Becoming Mama. Today I speak with Diana Spalding about how motherhood leads you to super powers you never knew you had. We dive into the power of making mistakes and creating boundaries to be a better mom. We talk about coming to motherhood with love, not fear, and of course we dive into the book. And we check in with Diana about pregnancy during the pandemic and she offers inspirational words for pregnant women and moms to take care of their physical and mental well-being during this time. Motherly is redefining the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey and I hope today's podcast and the book provide you with the support and strength you need whatever stage you are at - before, during or after pregnancy. Jaclyn Alterwein - In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, join me today for a heartfelt conversation with Jaclyn Alterwein. Jaclyn, is a breast cancer survivor, healthy and thriving today, and is telling her story to help motivate women to get mammograms. Her only ask, is that you get a mammogram and ask a friend to as well. Over the last 7 years Jaclyn’s life has been consumed unexpectedly by breast cancer. First, with her mother’s triple negative diagnosis, then 2 of her dear friends were diagnosed back to back. Over the course of 4 years, Jaclyn held their hands through it all. She supported and cared for them, went to doctor appointments, surgeries, chemo and radiation appointments. She learned though her experience as a co-survivor the importance of annual mammograms. Then, in 2017, Jaclyn was diagnosed with DCIS Stage 1 breast cancer after her last annual mammogram prompted further testing. Jaclyn is determined to spread her message worldwide in an effort to empower and educate about breast cancer, demonstrate courage, and ultimately support others in having their own annual mammograms. She's not shy about asking you when you had your last mammogram and I'm glad she felt she could ask me. Jaclyn is using her story to move herself forward. She's always been a fighter and not one to let adversity stand in her way. You're going to love her story about making the New York Knicks City Dance team, with virtually no formal training. And you're going to hear about how she's spreading the healthy word as she instructs at CycleBar and coming soon, as a Holistic Health Coach. Mother, dancer, women's advocate, Lead Cycle Star, coach, choreographer, producer and friend. Many, many thanks to Jaclyn for joining me today and sharing her story. Please be your own health advocate. And I invite you to join Jaclyn in her efforts over the next month through tagging your awareness posts with #AnnualMammosSaveLives. Jen Hedrick + Angie Comiteau - On a lovely Saturday afternoon Jen and Angie stopped by my home to talk about their journey in building the first Bar Method studio outside of California in 2008 and being tapped to help Bar Method create an expansion plan on how to open up nationally. Both had had successful careers prior to meeting each other at a local music class for their children. They became fast friends as they talked about feeling out of shape and disconnected from their community. On the outside it may look like creating their extremely successful business was easy. It was not. Like any entrepreneur setting off on a new course they had fearful thoughts - what if no one liked the workout, what if they failed, and could they pull it off. But together they felt courage. At the time, Bar Method had just a handful of studios located only in California. Not only did Jen and Angie launch what became a very lucrative business in their town, but it ignited the expansion of the Bar Method franchise up and down the east coast, resulting in New Jersey hosting the most Bar Method studios next to California. Jen and Angie's drive and determination to create a quality, superior, safe, effective exercise experience ran parallel with their inspiration to create a supportive community. While a financially successful business was welcome, money was NOT their driving motivation. They set out to start the business for the experience, the journey and the excitement. Along the way they realized the true gold in their business - the community they were building - being a way to connect with others and an opportunity to promote kindness and support, resulting in a business that has a soul. Let's Figure It Out with Jen Hedrick and Angie Comiteau. You can catch Angie in her sold out classes in Summit, and in the coming months, Jen will be back on the schedule in Summit leading classes women line up for. For more information about Bar Method and a class near you, visit BarMethod.com. We'll be watching to see what Jen and Angie have up their sleeves next.

Kathy Zagorski - Kathy is a Certified Psychic Medium and Reiki Master Practitioner. Kathy and I discuss the power of listening to and trusting yourself whether it pertains to yourself, your child or your career. She explains how she figured out her psychic medium and energy gifts and how these helped her to figure out her child's severe illness. Then we switch the tables and I do a reading for Kathy, demonstrating how to receive and figure out messages you receive. Kathy's first memory of seeing and communicating with a Spirit was at age 4 when a boy named Johnny and his dog, who both perished in a car accident, came to Kathy. At the time, Kathy did not know that not everyone could see Spirits and she treated Johnny like a second brother, setting a place for him at the dinner table and celebrating his birthday with cake and presents. She went through a cycle of denying her gift in her teens, and pursuing a more conventional career path leading her to become an elementary school teacher and reading specialist in her 20s. But she began to open up and embrace her psychic abilities and in her late 20s and 30s, honed her craft and officially made the leap from private school educator to professionally offering psychic medium and reiki services.
