I've been fairly absent from the scene since the last podcast drop in July of 2023. In this episode, I catch you guys up to what's been going on in my world and some thoughts on the future of Wolf & Iron.
Our guest today is Travis Davenport, founder of Wolf & Iron, a company that helps CEOs and entrepreneurs build thriving cultures and workplaces centered around personal values. Travis discusses the importance of belonging to a "wolf pack" community that inspires and challenges you, while also developing close "iron sharpens iron" relationships that push you to grow. He talks about the difference between "hard skills" and "human skills," arguing that human skills like coaching, mentoring, and inspiring employees are becoming increasingly critical for company culture and retention. Travis explains how the nature of work is evolving - younger generations don't want bosses that command them; they want leaders who empower them as partners in the company mission. With more options available thanks to the internet and remote work, employees are seeking meaning and purpose from their jobs, not just a paycheck. Companies that tap into this desire through strong human-centered leadership stand to gain dedicated, mission-driven team members. Wolf & Iron has been going for about 8 years now. In that time I've had to pause this venture and often move more slowly than I've wanted. But I always keep coming back and pushing forward. Why? Because I believe in this mission. For those who are new to the podcast, and I suppose those who've been with me on this journey for a while now, -- and for myself -- here is why I continue to do Wolf & Iron.

We talk a lot about leadership here at Wolf & Iron, but does this mean that men should always be the de facto leader? Speaking particularly of leadership roles in the home, this episode talks about why I believe men are called to lead. Spoiler, it's not because we're always better at it.
My marriage nearly failed. I decided to put Wolf & Iron on hold in order to take care of life and business. As I get back into the swing of things I wanted to share some insights with you. Here's the first part of what happened while I was away.
