Peace is not simply an absence of war. Fr. Mike breaks down the Catechism's teachings about peace as the "work of justice and the effect of charity.” We learn that to cultivate true peace, we must do more than avoid anger, hatred, and harm to our neighbor; we must actively work toward becoming agents of peace. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2302-2306. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. D's & F's diminish or destroy our purpose. What are we talking about? Doubt, Discouragement, Distraction, Fear, Frustration, and Failure, just to name a few. All of these are threats to our purpose. Doubting yourself discounts and diminishes your abilities. Discouragement happens when we don't get the results we expect. Too much discouragement results in depression and feelings of failure. Depression steals our hope and ambition by dragging us down into a dark hole and keeping us there under the weight of painful memories. The good news is that there is an antidote to every one of these purpose killers! In this episode we speak to Dr. Rosemarie Downer, retired university professor and social science researcher for the United States federal government. Rosemarie is the author of Above Defeat, The High Call of Forgiveness, D's & F's Won't Do, and many more books that help people find hope and purpose. She is also the host of the All Things Faith Walk Podcast. Dr. Downer shares her "antidote" against all the D's & F's. It's free. It takes less than a minute to "take in" every day. It is the power-filled word of God as recorded in Philippians 4:8 which says, “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Dr. Downer recommends taking this scripture like we would a vitamin every day! Finally, Rosemarie shares a special message for anyone who is doubting yourself, is discouraged, distracted, depressed, fearful, or frustrated. If this is you, don't miss this. YOU MATTER and your purpose matters. There are people who need YOU, and when you find and live in your purpose, your life will be better, and your corner of the world will be a better place. Best of all, you will have peace and joy and a sense of contentedness you cannot get any other way. By listening to the FIND YOUR PURPOSE NOW Podcast, you're moving toward your PURPOSE, MEANING AND CONNECTION, which is the antidote to depression, sadness, despair and all the problems that accompany those things. So please subscribe, share and listen every week as we continue to move toward finding and living the purpose for which you were born and perfectly matched. We live in an interesting time, when phrases like Toxic Masculinity and The Patriarchy have become so divisive. Teacher: Kyle Kaigler. Selah means to reflect and rejoice in the Lord. At the end of our High Call, Safe Place series, let's pause and reflect on all that God has done as we anticipate all that He will do moving forward. Use this message to dwell on the last few weeks and prayerfully consider what the Lord would have for you as your next faithful step with Him.
Salvation is an incredible gift. For those who have trusted Christ, we have been saved from the penalty of sin, are being saved from the power of sin, and one day will be saved from the presence of sin. The enemy continues to downgrade the blessings and benefits of salvation. As we close out our series, "High Call, Safe Place" let us consider the incredible gift of salvation.
Humanity is beautifully made but deeply broken. From the world around us to the reality within us, there is something that just isn't right. Only the Creator can recreate what's been broken. Remaining what He was, God became what He was not: Human. Jesus became the true human that we were meant to be. When we believe and embrace this reality, we are rescued and restored back to who we were created for and what we were created to be.
What do you think about when you think about God? How you view God affects how you view yourself and how you live in the world around you. God is continually revealing Himself to us by showing us who He is and what He is like. As we get to know Him, He touches and transforms every aspect of our lives. This is the God who is.
