Jevon Yarbrough just completed one of the most dominant individual seasons in all of Division III basketball, leading Hood College to a historic year. Yarbrough guided the Blazers to a MAC Championship and helped deliver the program's first NCAA Tournament win while rewriting the record books in the process. He set new single-season program records in both points and assists, cementing himself as one of the most impactful players in school history and emerging as one of the top guards in the country. Following the season, Yarbrough became a highly sought-after player in the transfer portal, drawing significant interest and offers from both Division I and Division II programs. Instead of leaving, he made the surprising decision to return to Hood for his final collegiate season. In an era where standout lower-level players often move up immediately, Yarbrough's choice to stay loyal to the program that helped elevate his career could potentially set a new precedent for Division III basketball players weighing similar opportunities. Now, expectations around Hood basketball have completely changed. After reaching the Sweet 16 and returning the face of the program for one more season, the Blazers enter the year with legitimate national attention and championship aspirations. With Yarbrough back leading the way, Hood won't just be viewed as a dangerous underdog anymore—they'll be expected to compete with the very best teams in Division III basketball. In this insightful episode of Kingdom Crossroads, host T.S. Wright welcomes returning guest Lori Yarbrough for a deep and practical discussion on one of the most overlooked dynamics in relationships: intent versus impact. While many people focus on what they meant to say, Lori emphasizes that what truly shapes relationships is how words are received. Drawing from biblical principles and decades of marriage experience, she unpacks how misunderstanding, defensiveness, and poor communication quietly erode connection—and how intentional listening can restore it.Key Topics CoveredIntent vs. Impact Defined Understanding the difference between what you meant and how it was received—and why both matter. Why Good Intentions Aren't Enough Even loving words can cause hurt if not communicated carefully. The Danger of Defensiveness Common reactions like “you're too sensitive” or “that's not what I meant” can shut down meaningful dialogue.Biblical Communication Principles Speaking the truth in love, managing emotional responses, and aligning your heart before speaking.Marriage & Conflict Resolution Insights Lessons from nearly 45 years of marriage, including how roles, personality differences, and emotional processing affect communication.Practical Tools for Better Conversations Lead with acknowledgment, not defenseAsk clarifying questionsListen to understand, not to winPause when emotions are highThe Power of Feeling Seen and Heard Relationships deteriorate when people feel unheard—and heal when they feel understood.Faith-Based Perspective on Relationships How Christ-centered humility, patience, and love transform communication in marriage and beyond.Key TakeawaysBoth intent and impact can be true at the same time.People don't process words logically first—they feel them emotionally.Listening well is more powerful than being right.Healthy relationships require emotional awareness and spiritual maturity.Communication isn't about winning—it's about understanding.Call to ActionFollow and subscribe to Kingdom CrossroadsShare this episode with someone who needs relationship encouragementVisit Lori's website to explore her teachings and resourcesCheck out Jesus Said TV for additional faith-based contentResources MentionedBook: United in Purpose by Lori YarbroughWebsite: LoriYarbrough.comCheck out this link to view Kingdom Cross Roads on TV.https://jesussaid.tv/?affiliate=tswright_gccTo get a copy of our new book "Embracing the Truth" or to have TS Wright speak at your event or conference or if you simply want spiritual or life coaching or just a consultation visit:www.tswrightspeaks.comVisit our website to learn more about The God Centered Concept. However, taking time to evaluate the emotional, spiritual, and communicative aspects of your relationship can make all the difference. In this blog post, we delve into key insights shared by marriage expert Lori Yarbrough during her recent appearance on the Kingdom Crossroads podcast.Main Content:1. The Necessity of Taking Inventory in Marriage Lori Yarbrough emphasizes that just as we regularly service our cars to prevent mechanical failures, we must also prioritize our marriages. Couples often neglect their relationship amidst busy schedules and life's complications. To counter this, Yarbrough suggests couples create two columns: what's healthy and what's neglected. This exercise helps identify strengths and areas needing attention. 2. The Four Core Pillars of Marriage When conducting this inventory, Yarbrough identifies four essential areas to assess: emotional connection, spiritual life, communication, and intimacy. Each pillar plays a crucial role in the overall health of the marriage. Couples should engage in open conversations to explore these areas without judgment or blame, focusing instead on nurturing their covenant.3. Keeping the Pursuit Alive Yarbrough reminds us that attraction in a marriage doesn't fade; rather, the attention may wane. Pursuing one another doesn't require grand gestures but rather small, intentional acts of love. For instance, ensuring your spouse knows they are valued through daily gestures can reinforce the bond. As Yarbrough highlights, "Your spouse should never wonder if they are still wanted."4. The Importance of Spiritual Growth Both partners should pursue their individual relationships with Christ, which Yarbrough notes is foundational for a strong marriage. She shares that praying together has significantly strengthened her relationship with her husband. When spiritual stagnation occurs, it often reflects negatively on the relationship. Each partner must carry their spiritual health, contributing to the overall strength of the marriage.5. The Power of Small Gestures Love is often communicated through small, everyday actions. Yarbrough shares personal anecdotes about how her husband expresses care by preparing her for trips, emphasizing that these acts of service are his way of saying, "You matter to me." Couples should focus on daily deposits of love rather than waiting for occasional grand gestures.6. The Role of Communication Effective communication is vital for intimacy. Yarbrough suggests that couples should engage in deeper conversations beyond logistics. Practicing active listening and emotional openness fosters connection. Couples should aim to create space for meaningful dialogue, ensuring both partners feel heard and valued. Conclusion: Key Takeaways Taking time to evaluate...

Ryan Yarbrough joined the Yankees just days before the end of spring training last year, and he turned out to be a much-needed swing-man for the team's pitching staff, moving between the starting rotation and the bullpen. He's back in pinstripes for 2026, this time with a bit more runway before Opening Day, and he took some time out of his last-minute prep to chat with YES Network's Meredith Marakovits about all that makes him excited about being back with the Yankees. Then, Meredith and Yankees Magazine deputy editor Jon Schwartz chat about the role that Yarbrough can play this year, and they recap this past weekend's BBWAA Awards Dinner, at which Aaron Judge received his third career AL MVP Award. Finally, Brian Richards opens a fascinating chapter of the History Books, looking back at the offseason when the Babe had to get back in shape. Learn more about your ad choices. It is a privilege to welcome actress and singer Kim Yarbrough back to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar brand (and for the first time on the podcast) for the first time in 14 years!   Many Reality TV fans first saw Kim Yarbrough audition for The Voice USA: Season Two in Spring 2012. Her powerful interpretation of Chaka Khan's “Tell Me Something Good” turned both founding coaches' chairs, Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera, around.  After joining Team Adam, Kim wowed the audience with her cover of Mary J. Blige's “No More Drama” and advanced to the Season Two Live Playoffs.  During The Voice: Season Two Live Playoffs, she sang Adele's “Rolling in the Deep” but fell into the Bottom Three.  After delivering a superb, powerful cover of Jennifer Hudson's “Spotlight,” the Maroon 5 frontman chose to advance Kim's then teammate, Katrina Parker, to the Top 16.  After her appearance on the NBC talent competition, Al Roker, Hoda Kotb, and Kathie Lee Gifford interviewed her on Today, and she sang with the Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Over the years, Kim dove deep into the entertainment industry. She guest-starred on several television shows, including 2 Broke Girls, 9-1-1, Hollywood Heights, Hot in Cleveland, Kenan, The Mindy Project, New Girl, Shameless, and The Up-Shaws. Kim also had recurring roles in Cherish the Day (Aunt Natalie), The Haunted Hathaways (Madame Labuef), and the animated series Kid Cosmic (Flo (voice)). In addition, Kim lent her voice to the Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.  She also shared the stage and screen with entertainment industry legends, including Dennis Quaid, Loretta Devine, Octavia Spencer, Cedric the Entertainer, Stevie Wonder, Sheila E, and the late Betty White and her mentor Della Reese, who produced the stage show Della Reese Presents Kim Yarbrough, which allowed Kim to showcase her talents to the Hollywood Entertainment Community.   On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Kim Yarbrough spoke about voice acting, tutoring students in the arts, and if she would ever audition for America's Got Talent or wait for a future All-Stars season of The Voice USA.
