Former MLB Pitcher Josh Towers and Scott Seidenberg break down the MLB slate of games for Memorial Day This special Memorial Day episode of The Inside Pitch features Scott Seidenberg and former MLB pitcher Josh Towers providing a comprehensive breakdown of the upcoming Monday baseball slate. The podcast focuses on travel dynamics, pitcher performances, betting angles, and how team momentum and logistics influence game outcomes. Central to the discussion is the “Sunday Night Fade”—a strategy of betting against teams that play Sunday night games and must travel before playing again on Monday. Scott cites a 6-1 record with this approach, spotlighting the Dodgers' travel from New York to Cleveland. Josh outlines how travel delays, postgame treatment, and media responsibilities—especially for players like Shohei Otani—can exhaust players, making them vulnerable in early Monday games. Josh and Scott discuss Otani's homer against Kodai Senga, noting it was the first Senga allowed since Opening Day. They analyze the Dodgers-Guardians matchup: Gavin Williams has a strong home record (3-1, 3.40 ERA), but struggles at night (5.09 ERA), while Yamamoto has a 1.00 ERA overall and has not yet pitched in a day game. Despite Yamamoto's strength, Josh is cautious, citing fatigue from travel as a factor. In Mets vs. White Sox, the Mets are favored. Hauser is unreliable (5.00 ERA in the minors), and the White Sox are 5-21 on the road. Clay Holmes has been strong for the Mets but is nearing workload limits. The duo leans Mets on the run line. Tarek Skubal's dominant performance (13 Ks in a 9-inning shutout) leads into Tigers-Giants. Keiter Montero's poor control (13 BB in 30 IP) makes backing the Giants appealing despite Hayden Birdsong's inexperience. Red Sox-Brewers is another key game. Boston's offense has faltered without Bregman, while Crochet has been elite. Chad Patrick has been solid at home. Josh and Scott prefer a first-five under wager, given offensive struggles. Cubs vs. Rockies is heavily skewed toward the Cubs, with Palmquist's disastrous starts (9 ER in 8 IP, 7 BB) making a run-line play likely. Eric Fedde (Cardinals) is steady, while Charlie Morton (Orioles) has had a volatile season. Despite recent rebound, Morton's early performances were poor, and the line favoring Baltimore is puzzling. In Rangers vs. Blue Jays, both deGrom and Gausman are top-tier arms. Toronto has scored just two runs in three games, and Texas' offense is struggling. Josh and Scott prefer the under, particularly a no-run first inning (Nerf-y) play. Royals vs. Reds also presents a Nerf-y opportunity: Lorenzen is 10-0 to the Nerf-y, and Chris Booback has a 1.45 ERA with 70 Ks in 68 innings. In Rays vs. Twins, Josh praises Tampa's momentum, especially with lineup depth like Chandler Simpson batting seventh. Paddock's 5.19 road ERA and vulnerability in early innings make Tampa appealing. However, Scott warns of fading the Rays later due to a back-loaded road-heavy schedule. Pirates-Diamondbacks features Heaney (8-2 Nerf-y) vs. Ryan Nelson, whose inconsistency and starter-reliever toggling limit trust. Another Nerf-y opportunity is noted. Padres-Marlins showcases Vasquez's steady performances against Weathers, who's shown flashes but is prone to walks and home runs. Yankees vs. Angels sees Yarbrough returning to form, while Kocanowicz has erratic command (20+ walks in 5 starts). Josh recommends betting Yankees and possibly on Kocanowicz's walk prop. The discussion shifts to the mound in Sacramento. Zach Wheeler complained about mound hardness affecting pitch delivery. Scott theorizes high elevation in pitches might stem from poor footing. Josh stresses that pros must adjust, though he criticizes coaches like Minnesota's, who lack firsthand pitching experience and can't offer adjustment strategies. The show ends with a promo code "DAY20" for 20% off at pregame.com and a reminder to enjoy the holiday with plenty of daytime baseball and solid betting opportunities. "He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God." - 2 Samuel 23:3 This Scripture describes this week's podcast guest extremely well. Very few people in state government, or in government anywhere, have such a fine-tuned, biblically-rooted understanding of how the Word of God comes to bear on civilization. State Rep. Ernie Yarbrough joins Bryan Dawson this week to tell his story about how he came into politics, and then to share about some important legislation that he's introduced this session. A son of Alabama, Yarbrough grew up as a homeschooler and witnessed the unthinkable when his father was imprisoned for refusing to pay taxes because those tax dollars were assisting in the murder of innocent children in the womb. He also saw friends put in prison for homeschooling back in the '80s. These things shaped Yarbrough, leaving an indelible mark in his mind and heart that drove him into the political arena. Yarbrough has dropped several good bills this legislative session, with the Laken Riley Act the most likely to pass. This legislation will work and partner with U.S. Sen. Katie Britt's similarly named legislation at the federal level to give local law enforcement the jurisdiction and authority necessary to remove illegal aliens from our community. Yarbrough has also introduced legislation—the Prenatal Equal Protection Act—seeking to give unborn children the same right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that children out of the womb receive. He answers all the tough questions about this legislation, as it is a hot topic around the nation, while discussing other legislation he has introduced as well. This is an extremely informative and entertaining episode of 1819 News: The Podcast that you won't want to miss!

Sho Alli and Julia Kreuz break down the Blue Jays' 2-1 Spring Training win over the Pirates to wrap up Grapefruit League play in Florida! They take your texts, and get into the roster decisions that saw all of Alan Roden, Nathan Lukes, Myles Straw, Davis Schneider, and Will Wagner making the roster - did Addison Barger deserve to make it over one of those names? They also discuss the pitchers, including Max Scherzer being penciled in for the third spot in the rotation, while Richard Lovelady and Jacob Barnes get the last two bullpen spots over Ryan Yarbrough and Tommy Nance - what went into the decision to not extend a spot to Yarbrough? Plus, it's time to make bold predictions - they give their own predictions, read the bold texts at 590-590, and also hear from both Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith and MLB.com's Keegan Matheson as to their bold predictions as well. Dr. Scott Yarbrough, PhD is a professor of English at Charleston Southern University, as well as the host of two literary podcasts, Reading McCarthy & Great American Novel out of Charleston, South Carolina. This episode is dedicated to the hunting novella, The Bear by America's 20th-century literary master, William Faulkner. After a reading, we begin with Faulkner's biography as Scott describes the major themes within his writing: the southern gothic push back to the over-romanticization of the old south; race & the aftermath of slavery; time & history; and the tension between loving & hating where one comes from. Then we turn to a discussion, synopsis & analysis of The Bear, Faulkner's coming-of-age novella about a boy's hunting camp as they search for a dog powerful enough to bay the mythic bear, Old Ben, that haunts a 100-square miles of Mississippi wilderness that soon will vanish under the logger's ax. Woven throughout are conversations about: the evolution of language; writers that hunt; "toxic masculinity;" bear symbolism; the wildness within; Scott's rural upbringing; city-dwellers appreciating southern literature; and last but not least, William Faulkner's feist dogs!Reading from Big Woods: The Hunting Stories by William Faulkner. My good friend and self proclaimed "local entertainer" Phillip Yarbrough joins me as I experiment with a new show idea tonight, we just sat around drinking whiskey and talking about the local music scene, the politics surrounding it, what type of bands and / or artist are drawing crowds, what platforms are helping them draw and more. Phillip also plays us 4 great songs at the end of the show to cap off the nearly 3-hour conversation!! I can't promise that I'll do more shows like this because everyone isn't Phillip, but I had a great time doing it and based on the comments and text messages so did the live audience.

Send us a textIn this episode of the Lean to Mean Academy podcast, hosts Cody Yarbrough and Aaron Parker dive into an important but often overlooked topic in business and personal growth—embracing "dark side energy."The conversation starts with catching up and a light introduction, but it quickly delves into the idea that not all negative energy is bad. Cody emphasizes that every entrepreneur, whether in pressure washing or any other industry, will face adversity. He explains that dark side energy, or negative emotions and situations, can be harnessed to fuel growth and success. The key, they argue, is learning when to embrace it and when to let it go.They share personal stories of overcoming significant hardships, like business failures and personal struggles, and turning those negative experiences into motivation. For Aaron, much of this process is about channeling frustration and pain into productivity, transforming what could be crippling negativity into perseverance and a winning mindset.Cody explains how in the business world, especially as you scale, setbacks and competition are inevitable. He likens business to a battle, where one must be prepared for competitors and setbacks, but also be strategic about how to respond. This isn't about dwelling in negativity but about using it to stay driven. The hosts stress that not every piece of negative feedback or failure is something you should fixate on—sometimes, the criticism is simply noise. They provide tactical advice on building systems and processes that help filter out the constructive criticism from the baseless complaints. The episode closes with a discussion about their upcoming Serious Starter Bootcamp and encouragement for listeners to lean into both the light and dark sides of their journey. Success, they conclude, comes from using all experiences, good and bad, to sharpen your skills, drive your purpose, and build something lasting.Key Takeaways:Harness Negative Energy: Instead of avoiding challenges, learn to use negative energy as motivation and fuel for success.Filter Feedback: Not all criticism is valuable. Develop systems to distinguish between constructive feedback and noise.Stay Balanced: Don't let high moments inflate you or low moments deflate you—keep steady and use every experience to your advantage.Growth Requires Struggle: Embrace the difficult times as part of the process. On this episode of the Sales Gravy podcast, Jeb Blount engages Denim CRO, Will Yarbrough, in a fascinating discussion on how to sell more and grow faster by linking the customer journey through a One Funnel Strategy. Sales and marketing strategies come and go, but one approach has been gaining traction for its simplicity and effectiveness: The One Funnel Mindset. This powerful concept challenges the traditional notion that more is better, instead focusing on perfecting a single, highly optimized sales funnel. At its core, the one funnel mindset is about streamlining your sales process. Instead of creating multiple funnels for different products or customer segments, you concentrate on building and refining one comprehensive funnel that guides potential customers from initial awareness to final purchase. Key Takeaways: - Unified Revenue Goals: Aligning marketing and sales under a single One Funnel Customer Journey and revenue goal eliminates internal competition and focuses on overall business growth. - Avoiding Complacency: Maintaining a focus on growth and continuous improvement is crucial to avoid stagnation in sales. - Customer Experience: Enhancing customer experience by providing a more unified customer journey. - Human Connection: Despite advancements in AI, human-to-human interaction remains vital in sales, especially for high-value deals. - Preparation and Investment: Sales success often depends on thorough preparation and continuous investment in personal development and training. - Shorter Sales Cycles: Buyers are increasingly making quicker decisions due to more readily available information, making each sales interaction critical. - Manager's Role: Effective frontline managers are essential in motivating sales teams by understanding and aligning individual goals with One Funnel goals and providing tailored support. - Big Pull Concept: Identifying and leveraging what drives each salesperson is key to maintaining their motivation and focus. The One Funnel Mindset: Unifying Marketing and Sales Yarborough introduced the concept of the "One Funnel Mindset," a unified approach where marketing and sales teams work together seamlessly towards common revenue goals. Traditional models often create a divide between marketing-qualified leads (MQLs) and sales-qualified leads (SQLs), leading to misalignment and inefficiencies. The One Funnel Mindset eliminates these silos, ensuring that both teams are aligned and focused on the same objectives. In this approach, leads are simply "qualified leads," with no distinction between marketing and sales. This unified perspective fosters collaboration, reduces friction, and ensures a smoother customer journey from awareness to purchase. By sharing goals, metrics, and strategies, marketing and sales teams can create a more cohesive and effective revenue engine. Enhancing Customer Experience: The Human Touch Despite the rise of artificial intelligence and automation, Yarborough emphasized the irreplaceable value of human interaction in sales. High-value deals, in particular, require a personal touch to build trust and rapport with customers. While AI can enhance the sales process by automating routine tasks and providing data-driven insights, it cannot replicate the nuances of human connection. Sales professionals must prioritize building strong relationships with their customers. This involves active listening, understanding their pain points, and offering tailored solutions. By focusing on the human element, salespeople can create lasting impressions and foster long-term customer loyalty. Shortening Sales Cycles: The Impact of Preparedness Another significant trend discussed in the podcast is the shortening of sales cycles. With buyers conducting extensive research before engaging with sales representatives, decisions are being made faster than ever. This shift places a premium on preparedness.
