Anthony Franco, Cole Dowie and Derek Goodman
This time the boys talk Superbowl...what else do you expect?
This time the boys give their analysis of the Chiefs win over the Bills and the Bucs besting the Saints during NFL championship weekend.
This time boys discuss the pros & cons of the Hardin trade, then they dive deep into this weekend's NFL playoff matches.
The boys discuss what an odd holiday season we're having. And oh yeah, they also are talking football and they aren't so happy about it...tune in!
The boys wax philosophic about New York football. Bye bye Greg Williams. Is tanking actually worth it? Are the Giants a true contender? Listen and find out what they think!
We are back after 6 months...man life is different now! Join us as we update you on our lives and talk a little bit about some bad NY football teams
As the world is adjusting to a new reality, the boys discuss the logistics of major sports getting started...or more if and when that can happen. They also talk a little bit more on The Last Dance. Funny how watching highlights from 22 years ago is doing a passable job replacing live games!
It's a sports podcast! Or at least the boys don't dwell on the pandemic, as there was a sporting 'event' recently. The boys give their thoughts on the NFL draft, both the presentation of it and it's results. Later on, they dive deep into Cole's Backcourt (trademarked btw) and discuss the latest episodes of The Last Dance.
In this episode the boys update each other on how they've been passing time during this pandemic. After that, they take a short trip to Derek's end zone to talk NFL draft (NYC edition), followed bya trip to Cole's backcourt to discuss the documentary, The Last Dance.
In these times, devoid of any sports, the boys talk a little more about life than usual. But don't worry, they still go 'Backcourt with Cole' and later on visit 'Derek's End Zone' to debate the top 5 wide receivers of the 21st century.
With the world of sports 90% shut down, the boys mostly talk about life this time around. Do not fear though, they do take a brief visit to Derek's end zone (worst/best segment name ever). All of you be safe!
In our new reality, there isn't a lot to be discussed in the sports world. However, there is a lot of quarterback movement in the NFL which warrants discussion. Other than that the boys wish you all well and might have more content coming because what the hell else are you/they doing?
This time the boys start off talking about the bloated NFL quarterback market, followed by a brief visit to Anthony's baseball corner which apparently still is on fire. Lastly, they go backcourt with Cole.
The guys give their thoughts about the superbowl and NFL doings to come. Cole gives some good insight on the changes to the NBA all star game, before Ant goes on an epic rant on what's going on in baseball....passion means love and hate y'all!
In this episode, Cole & Derek spend most of the time paying tribute to Kobe Bryant. After paying their respects, they answer a few random NFL questions and update their picks for the Superbowl (p.s.-nothing has changed).
The boys give their opinions on what happened during championship weekend, for better or worse, before giving some early predictions for the SuperBowl. We also spend some time on Anthony’s baseball corner where he throws some shame southward. Lastly, Cole talks basketball, and yes…there’s another problem in Houston!
They boys are back talking about the NFL Championships! First, they review the divisional round and then later they make their picks. Hope ya’ll had a great holiday season!
Anthony is Alive! by Anthony Franco, Cole Dowie and Derek Goodman
Let us all take a moment of silence…the boys talk about the benching of Eli Manning in favor of Daniel Jones, and the compare and contrast him with Ben Roethlisberger (who is also done for the season). The quarterback guard is changing rapidly in the NFL and they’re trying to keep up!
The title says it all, but let’s be honest…some of us may want to change our picks based on recent events (retirements).
In this episode (which, full disclosure…was recorded in the middle of August) the boys predict the NFC division winners. Do not fear fans…we’ll have a lot more for you soon. I’ve said it before, but it’s true!
After a long hiatus the boys are back to discuss topics such as the new super-teams in basketball, the ridiculous scoring witnessed by London based baseball fans during MLB’s first regular season trip across the pond, and the sad state of sports in the big apple (not talking about you, Yankees)
Man, being a Jets fan isn’t easy. The boys discuss the firing of Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan, then jump to the NBA lottery…another disappointment for New York Sports fans. Hey, at least the conference finals are going the way we expected!
The boys give their opinions on the biggest stories from the NFL Draft…only one of them seems happy about their team’s plan of action. A visit to Anthony’s baseball corner teaches us that the Red Sox are garbage, while the Yankees are thriving…balance has been restored to the universe. Lastly, with the NBA playoffs winding down, Cole & Anthony’s picks are still intact, but that doesn’t mean everything is going the way we want. As a bonus, listen to the end to get Ant’s opinions on the Avengers & Game of Thrones!
The NBA Playoffs are in full swing, and Anthony is tight about the Brooklyn squad…so we give him a little time to get his emotions out (earmuffs children!). We all see the Warriors locking horns with the Bucks in the finals, but that doesn’t stop Cole from giving praise to a few other teams. After a visit to Ant’s baseball corner, Derek leads a chat about the NFL draft and Russell Wilson’s twitter habits. Kudos Tiger on what we all see as the greatest sports career comeback of all time!
Anthony and Cole give their analysis of March Madness, then they talk about the NBA season coming to a close, then Dgoode forces them to give a prediction for the finals. After a not so brief NFL check-in, we visit Anthony’s baseball corner for the first time this year!
So, nobody in the tri-state area is happy…even Jets fans like Cole don’t get whet’s going on in Met Life stadium. After a beefy conversation about the OBJ trade, the boys review a few of the bigger free agency moves, and then…wait, it doesn’t matter. WTF NY Giants???
This time it’s just Anthony and Cole and they start off digging into the mess that Robert Kraft has gotten into…jeez! Cheers to Kaepernick for winning his grievance against the NFL, and isn’t it scary how an injury to college basketball’s best player can tank stock prices? It must be 1973, because the Bucs may be the hottest team in the NBA and L.A. teams are irrelevant.
The boys give their thoughts on landing places for Nick Foles & the Browns signing Kareem Hunt. Ant thinks that Kyler Murray’s decision to go with football over baseball shows that America’s pastime is falling further behind in popularity…good thing the season starts soon! They also spend some time talking the great basketball deeds of James Hardin, Russel Westbrook & Paul George.
Well… that happened. As Ant & Derek predicted the Patriots earned their sixth Superbowl victory, but it happened in a much different fashion than expected. They get in depth analyzing the game, all 16 points of it. Heads up… they also hated the halftime show, but that’s par for the course. Happy anniversary boys, and keep your chin up… at some point the dynasty will end!
The boys do a little NBA housecleaning…the Warriors are really good, and Ant would like Anthony Davis to figure out where Brooklyn’s at! But with the Superbowl coming this Sunday the boys spend most of the podcast giving very amateur analysis of the upcoming game, as well as making their picks, score & MVP predictions. Zero chance they are all happy come Monday morning!
The boys take a moment to hail Mariano Rivera and his unprecedented voting into the MLB hall of fame…and muse how a unanimous vote has never happened before. After Ant’s obligatory Brooklyn Nets discussion, they all discuss how the game has changed with the prevalence of the 3 point shot. Finally, there’s a robust convo about what they saw during NFL championship weekend…god damn Patriots.
Is James Harden the greatest scorer of this generation? The boys don’t seem convinced. The wild card round has proved the guys aren’t as smart as they think…let’s see if they do any better picking the divisional round games as they play, ‘which QB do you trust?’. At least they seem to agree (mostly) on who will be taking home the NFL awards this year.
In the first pod of the New Year, the boys start with the NBA where the Bucs are surging, the Lakers decidedly aren’t, and the Warriors are treading water and could use a doctor. With the NFL regular season ending, they also talk about some teams that have questions to answer such as the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Dramas…er, Steelers. Finally, they pick the wild card games.
The boys are back together for the holidays! Ant & Cole catch us up on the goings on in the NBA, including waaaay too much discussion of the Brooklyn Nets and a newcomer to the MVP race. Then, after some lamenting about the NY football squads, they have a loose and leisurely chat about all things NFL, including where they stand in the pick ‘em competition, Dgoode’s latest top 10, and some surprising quarterback revelations!
In this mini-pod, Derek catches us up on his latest NFL top 10...no New York teams need apply. After that he updates fans on Anthony, Cole, and his standings in NFL pick-em, then (very) quickly previews the week 10 slate of games. His Thursday night pick was so wrong
The three major sports colliding seems to have an, um…euphoric effect on our hosts today as Ant spends a little time on the baseball corner, followed by Cole and Anthony rejoicing the start of the NBA season. Derek asks why NBA players look rusty and if Lebron looks odd in Purple & Yellow. Ant makes very good on his Detroit Tigers bet, but Cole was tricked by the Fitz-magic. Dgoode’s NFL top ten doesn’t include the Jets or Giants, but somehow those teams dominate the chat.
Dgoode is flying solo this time, and is preaching patience and trying to stay calm here. He mostly succeeds as he talks about what’s going on with our NY Giants. He loves you Eli, it hurts him to say negative things, even if Anthony was saying the same stuff 2 weeks ago.
The Giants won. Have a beer…or six. Anthony and Derek are obviously in celebration mode as they recap all the week 3 games. There is a lotta movement/disagreement in Dgoode’s top 10. The sky is falling in New England. The ACL tear monster visited San Fran on Sunday. Shame on you Cowboys. Yankees, quit streaking so Ant can watch you live in Oakland…help a brother out!
They’re a tripod again! Anthony is back, so we get an update on the state of the Yankees and the state of California. Week 2 was a little cray & the boys follow suit. Man oh man, the NY Giants got some ‘splainin’ to do! Remember A.J. Green? Baltimore does. Famous Jameis is about to be Wally Pipp-ed, and Mahomes-my-god!
Cole & Derek were wrong about the Jets & Giants, but they’re ok with the results. There were a lot of other surprises last weekend (Lions? Buccaneers??), and Dgoode’s top 10 will reflect that, trust me. Finally in their first ever tennis talk, they talk about the social implications of Serena’s finals match vs. Osaka. Yeah…she wasn’t happy, tears on both sides.
Cole & Derek spend the first half discussing the major NFL transactions from the past week, then they finally pick some real NFL games! Derek is high on the G-men, while Cole’s expectations from the Jets are a little more measured. Listen to find out how right/wrong we are in picking games this week!
In today’s mini episode Derek is flying solo talking about how much Aaron Rodgers might still be under-paid, and the trades involving Khalil Mack & Teddy Bridgewater
The Yankees can’t catch the Red Sox, so Anthony is watching the Athletics now. Cole announces an NBA retirement that’s been a long time coming for him, and Derek’s latest top NFL 10 pleases nobody…cough…Bengals?!? Also, the boys seem to disagree on the merits of Aaron Rodgers, Odell Beckham Jr., and a strong hairline.
Baseball is getting more interesting by the day… just listen to Anthony, he’ll tell ya! Adrian Peterson is getting one last term in Washington, & Teddy B. might be the best QB wearing green these days. After that mess, Derek finds out if Cole & Anthony know HOF wide receivers, and they talk about some strange monikers, from the NFL and beyond!
With only one pre-season game in the books, it doesn’t feel fair to evaluate the rookie QBs, but Derek goes ahead and does it anyway... and compares them to some interesting NFL signal callers. The pre-season injury bug stung the Redskins where it hurts & Jalen Ramsey is getting sent to Principal Coughlin’s office for a stern lesson about media relations sometime very soon.
Jarvis Landry likes to say the F word ... A LOT! Josh Gordon stayed home, Baker Mayfield showed up, the Red Sox are playing lights out, the NBA schedule release and Derek updates his NFL Top 10.
With Derek at the helm, Anthony has trouble finding nice things to say about the Mets and apologizes to Bryce Harper among others, The boys are excited for the return of Andrew Luck and we go over our predictions of Divisional winners in the NFL for this upcoming season which is fast approaching!
Anthony explains how the Oakland Athletics are the hottest yet most quiet team in baseball while Derek observes his Hot Pocket in the oven and the boys debate on which Hot Pocket is best, gearing up for Hard Knocks on HBO featuring Josh Gordon and the Cleveland Browns and Derek reveals his top 10 NFL teams of the 2018 season.
Congrats to France on ‘le win’ in the world cup! We dig into the NBA offseason…it seems like Kawhi Leonard’s trip to L.A. includes a layover in Toronto. Anthony is talking about the big baseball trade (Blueberry Pie Alert), and Revis island is officially closed.
Anthony is back! And he’s dropping baseball knowledge (19:45). Before all that, he gets us up to date on what’s going on in the World Cup before the tournament gets really juicy (3:00). Cole gets an atta boy for predicting Lebron’s move to L.A. (12:30), but nobody thinks that’s how the West will be won… at least not this year (15:30). Finally, Derek explains why Jameis was already on thin ice before this suspension cracked it (28:00).
