The Steelers' offseason is well underway, with exit interviews for players & coaches dominating Steelers social media, and the ‘fan GM-ing' from everyone (even those that warn others not to) ratcheting up by the day. So, for this Steelers side who haven't won a playoff game in three trips to the playoffs since 2017, where do they go from here? Who do they turn to at quarterback, after the likely retirement of Ben Roethlisberger - the franchise's second HOF quarterback, to steer this team to victories? How do they address defensive laps and offensive failure by changing up their coordinators, do they need to even make a change? These are just some of the questions that Matty Peverell and Mark Davison will address, as they bring a global perspective to how the Steelers can achieve success in 2022 and beyond, as they chase a seventh Lombardi. All this, and more, will be discussed on the latest episode of Touchdown Under, the Australian sensation from the BTSC family of podcasts. Learn more about your ad choices. Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, is joined by Tony Serino of AFC North Talk. Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins spoke Wednesday with Pittsburgh Steelers media about the prospect of playing next year for the Steelers and earning the starting quarterback role. But both have a lot to prove before that ever becomes reality. Who replaces Ben Roethlisberger will most likely be a draft pick or a free agent in the near future, but it's clear Mike Tomlin wants his quarterback of the future to be mobile and have the ability to extend plays. What's the best plan to find the best Steelers quarterback for 2022 without blowing up the team's rebuilding plans? With Teryl Austin looking to replace Keith Butler as Steelers defensive coordinator, is this the right idea? Austin is an experienced NFL coach and former defensive coordinator who's been with the team for three seasons. His biggest focus might be making sure the defensive philosophy doesn't change too much so that T.J. Watt, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Cam Heyward and company can still be playmakers with just more help coming from the NFL Draft and free agency. Follow Chris Carter on Twitter: @CarterCritiques. Tomlin's Tuesday comments keep both of us busy for quite a while in this show.Alex and I talk a lot about Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada in this show on the heels of it sounding like he might be retained this offseason. We talk about Canadas's offense and what it lacked and where I might go with veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger now out of the picture. Will the steelers sign wide receiver Diontae Johnson to a contract extension during the offseason? Will they rework Roethlisberger's contract to free up a little bit of salary cap space? Alex and I thoroughly discuss those two topics during this episode as well.Alex and I talk about the how the Steelers might move forward this offseason when it comes to the quarterback position. There is a lot of talk about quarterbacks and quarterback play in this show.We then move on to wrap up this Wednesday show by answering several questions from our listeners.

Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, is joined by Josh Taylor of 93.7 The Fan and KDKA-TV. Mike Tomlin basically confirmed the Pittsburgh Steelers WOULD NOT be firing Matt Canada from offensive coordinator, and Keith Butler might be OUT at defensive coordinator. These commitments put the Steelers in an interesting position in the start of the era after Ben Roethlisberger's retirement. What sense does it make bringing back Canada to work with Najee Harris and Pat Freiermuth in a completely reworked offensive line? We look at the reasons for Canada. Also, if Butler is gone as defensive coordinator, who's his replacement? The obvious answer is an internal hire, defensive backs coach Teryl Austin, who has experience as a good defensive coordinator and shows why the Steelers' history of hiring internally has worked more often than not. Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast. The Pittsburgh Steelers brought the fight initially to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, as T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward and Devin Bush brought the early turnovers that gave the Steelers a lead. But Ben Roethlisberger and the offense couldn't capitalize with only two first downs in the first half. Once Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs caught their breaths, it was over. It was a sad way for Roethlisberger to end his career, but it also was a sign of what's needed for Mike Tomlin to keep building with the roster on-hand. The Steelers may need a re-do at receiver as Diontae Johnson had a bad game and Chase Claypool didn't help either. What's the legacy of Big Ben now that his career is likely over? It won't be tarnished by this last playoff loss, as he's still a two-time Super Bowl champion. Follow Chris Carter on Twitter: @CarterCritiques. Today's word of the day is ‘sugar ray' as in all around the world, statues crumble for me. Who knows how long I've loved you. I just wanna fly. Put your arms around me, baby! The Houston Texans have fired David Culley after just one season. Culley was the oldest first year head coach ever. He'll leave with about $25M for one season. What's going on in Houston? GM Nick Caserio wants to do things the Patriot Way. Deshaun Watson was out all year for you know what. CEO Cal McNair doesn't have a clue what he's doing. (11:00) Mike Tomlin is the last Black head coach left in the NFL. But the story here is about Ben Roethlisberger and the comments he's made in his final season. He's doing everything he can to make it as if the team stinks, not Mike Tomlin. He's protecting his coach… just in case. (19:30) Review: The Tender Bar. (23:45) So You Wanna Talk to Samson!? Someone asked me about the MLB lockout meeting. They wanted to know what happened on Thursday. (38:55) NPPOD. (42:10) What's going on with Ben Simmons? Is he going to be a Sixer for long? Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, is joined by Jenna Harner of WPXI-TV. JuJu Smith-Schuster returned to practice for the Steelers, but it will take more than that for the Pittsburgh Steelers to upset the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, including T.J. Watt and the defensive playmakers changing the game. But there's also a sneaky way Ben Roethlisberger can tip the scales. To beat Patrick Mahomes, The Steelers need Minkah Fitzpatrick, Cam Heyward and the rest of the defense to create turnovers and limit how many big scoring drives the Chiefs have with Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill back to full strength. But with how Roethlisberger has been limited all season, what if this was the week he finally cut loose? The Steelers haven't attacked the middle of the field until their fourth quarter comeback and overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens last week, and this might be THE time to do it with Pat Freiermuth, Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool to open up running room for Najee Harris and give the Steelers their big chance at creating the upset special.
