On the latest episode of Bleav in Giants, Carl Banks and Bob Papa discuss the Giants first week of training camp with optimism surrounding new head coach John Harbaugh's emphasis on accountability, discipline, and structure. Carl Banks says players have embraced the culture change after a frustrating 2025 season, believing the new standard is already evident throughout camp. Banks highlights several early standouts, including linebacker Arvell Reese, defensive lineman Darius Alexander, and a rejuvenated Odell Beckham Jr., while noting that roster battles—especially at linebacker, receiver, and defensive back. They also discuss Jaxson Dart's development following criticism from Ben Solak and touch on other players who have been impressive to watch. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Malik Nabers is progressing faster than expected, but the Giants' optimism comes with a serious warning. NFL reporter Connor Hughes explains why Nabers could contribute against the Cowboys in Week 1 barring a setback, while revealing that the rest of the wide receiver room has left plenty to be desired. Odell Beckham Jr. has endured a quiet start and is far from guaranteed a roster spot, while Abdul Carter is already wrecking practices. Shaun Morash is in for Evan Roberts alongside Tiki Barber as they examine how John Harbaugh has immediately brought professionalism and raised the Giants' floor. They also react to Tony Romo being placed on leave by CBS and debate whether Baker Mayfield could become the stabilizing quarterback the Jets desperately need.
Malik Nabers is recovering faster than expected, and Connor Hughes believes the Giants' optimism about a Week 1 return is justified barring a setback. But his progress also exposes the team's biggest concern: a wide receiver room that has failed to produce a clear No. 2 option. Shaun Morash is in for Evan Roberts alongside Tiki Barber as Hughes explains why Odell Beckham Jr. still has to earn his roster spot, how John Harbaugh has immediately made Giants camp feel more professional, and why Abdul Carter is already taking over practices against Andrew Thomas. The Giants may have raised their floor, but their passing game still depends heavily on Nabers getting healthy.
Art breaks down day three of camp regarding Reese, Skatt, Dart, Slayton, OBJ, Sauls and more.
Art breaks down all that is current with Big Blue at day two of training camp in West Virginia. Talking Carter, Kayvon, the wide receivers, positional battles, and more!
John Harbaugh is bringing a sharper standard to Giants training camp, but demanding better execution only matters if the roster can stay healthy, finish games and overcome several unresolved weaknesses.Follow on Spotify and leave a 5-star rating on Apple Podcasts if you enjoy no-BS Giants debate.Has John Harbaugh already changed the Giants' standard? The expectations sound different, but the real test is whether that urgency produces better execution and more wins once the games begin.Harbaugh made the strongest statement of the Giants' opening day at The Greenbrier when he said the team was not there simply to practice. Every drill, play call and practice period is supposed to prepare the Giants for the games they need to win. He praised the team's focus, Jaxson Dart's command of the offense and the work Malik Nabers has put into his recovery. However, Nabers remains on a gradual plan, and Harbaugh would not place a firm timeline on his return to full practices. Joe Schoen also acknowledged that Dart must learn another offense in his second season, even though continuity would have been preferable. We discuss whether Harbaugh's experienced offensive staff can reduce that developmental cost and help Dart build on his rookie year. Can the Giants replace Dexter Lawrence by committee?Schoen admitted the timing of the Lawrence trade limited the available options because the main free-agent market had already passed. D.J. Reader, Shelby Harris, Darius Alexander and the inside linebackers will collectively be asked to replace his impact. Schoen also stopped well short of declaring the run defense fixed, answering that the Giants will have to see whether the new personnel and emphasis actually work. The roster remains unsettled. Schoen said the Giants will continue exploring trades, waiver claims and available veterans, with cornerback and wide receiver among the most important camp competitions.Odell Beckham Jr., JuJu Smith-Schuster and Braxton Berrios are fighting for roles in a crowded receiver room. Schoen said Beckham can still get open and catch the football, while Harbaugh thought he looked good during the opening practice. None of the veteran receivers have been handed a roster spot.We also discuss Schoen describing his job as year to year despite receiving an extension, Cam Skattebo's backflip and the warning that followed, Kayvon Thibodeaux's importance to the defense, and the challenge of running a physical camp without losing irreplaceable players. The Giants are talking about execution, competition and finishing games. Now they have to prove that “no excuses” is more than a training-camp slogan.Merch: https://2giantgoofballs-shop.fourthwall.com/ Support: https://buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballs All episodes: https://2giantgoofballs.buzzsprout.com/Send us Fan MailSupport the show

The Daily DLP previews the Lions' tight end room, which could already be set ahead of training camp. Is Sam LaPorta fully cleared and what does it mean for the Detroit Lions offense? Yes. Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta is fully cleared to participate in training camp after a microdiscectomy for his back. As Jeff Risdon noted, the procedure carries some recurrence risk, but LaPorta's efficient production, route versatility and red-zone finishing restore a core option for quarterback Jared Goff in Detroit's NFL-best skill group. LaPorta is the clear number one tight end in Detroit. He functions as the offense's chain mover and a red-zone target alongside Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Game plans will flex week to week, with some games funneling to LaPorta near the top of the pecking order based on coverage. Who is TE2 right now, Tyler Conklin or Brock Wright? Tyler Conklin holds the higher receiving ceiling and overtakes Brock Wright if Detroit gets the New York Jets version of Conklin. If Conklin mirrors his Chargers stint, Brock Wright retains the role. As Jeff Risdon put it, Conklin's upside as a mover and flex option can bump Wright to TE3 if Conklin is right. Detroit Lions tight end Brock Wright's last three seasons tell a consistent story: 13 catches, 91 yards, 1 touchdown; 13 catches, 100 yards, 2 touchdowns; and last year 14 catches, 108 yards, and 2 touchdowns. He is 27, smart and crafty, but lacks athletic dynamism. Risdon added that Wright's run-blocking has graded around the bottom of the top tier to the middle tier range for tight ends. Detroit Lions tight end Tyler Conklin, 30, is listed at 6-3, 248. Risdon relayed that Conklin's absence from minicamp appeared excused after conversations with the tight ends coach and offensive coordinator Drew Petzing. Conklin thrived as a pass catcher with the Jets but struggled with the Chargers under Jim Harbaugh, including one bad early day that soured the fit. When right, Conklin can split out, motion, and complement LaPorta in two tight end sets, even if inline is not his strength. Which depth tight ends have a real path to the 53 or practice squad? After the top three, the group is chasing one realistic practice squad spot. Risdon gave Horton the early edge because he has been in the building and can also play some fullback. Detroit also has Miller Kitselman as a UDFA and Thomas Gordon in camp. Detroit Lions wide receiver Jackson Meeks is practicing at tight end, but at 6-2, 218 he is undersized for NFL in-line work and, per Risdon, visibly smaller than Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa. TeSlaa is a big-bodied wide receiver, not a tight end, and remains a wide receiver assignment despite his frame. Will Drew Petzing feature two or three tight end sets in Detroit? Expect frequent two tight end looks, with three tight end packages possible even though none appeared in minicamp. Petzing used three tight ends in Arizona, and in Cleveland he deployed two tight ends as window dressing to feed Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry and Nick Chubb. That history fits with Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff's strength in distributing to the best matchup. #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #samlaporta #jaredgoff #amon-rast.brown #jahmyrgibbs #brockwright #tylerconklin #isaacteslaa #jacksonmeeks #drewpetzing #lionstrainingcamp Learn more about your ad choices. Bob and Dave are joined by MLB analyst Trevor May to get his thoughts on the current state of the Mariners starting pitching rotation, their biggest trade deadline needs, and where they currently stand in the AL West, they discuss who bares the responsibility in making sure we see a different Mariners team in the second half of the season, and they hear Odell Beckham Jr explain why $100 million isn’t enough money in Whyman.
This week on Sports Guyz Only, Nathaniel is out sick, which leaves the rest of the crew plenty of time to roast Carter's wedding, question whether jeans belong at formal events, and pitch perhaps the greatest wedding job of all time: making Joey the official beer vendor at a future reception. Then it's time for sports. The guys dive into one of the biggest debates of the podcast: did the Minnesota Wild have any choice but to pay Kirill Kaprizov? Using Sidney Crosby's historic contract as the measuring stick, they break down NHL salary cap percentages, Florida's tax advantage, whether Kaprizov is truly a top-tier superstar, and just how much a franchise player should command. It's a passionate hockey debate that has the crew ranking the NHL's best players and arguing over what it really takes to build a Stanley Cup contender. The conversation shifts to the NBA as Victor Wembanyama's decision to leave money on the table sparks a discussion about stars sacrificing salary to chase championships. That naturally leads back to the latest LeBron James rumors, with the guys debating whether Minnesota still has a legitimate shot, why Cleveland might make the most sense, and whether pairing LeBron with LaMelo Ball would actually work. The episode closes with fantasy football season officially on the horizon. The crew brainstorms new league rules, dynasty formats, hilarious punishments, and ways to make every season just a little more chaotic. Plus: •Ranking the NHL's current superstars •NFL dynasty debates •Odell Beckham Jr.'s comments on "generational wealth" •Blake Bortles' legendary retirement mindset •Kendrick Perkins as sports television entertainment •Nathaniel's impressive World Cup predictions As always, it's hockey arguments, NBA offseason rumors, fantasy football trash talk, and enough random tangents to remind everyone why no topic is ever truly off limits. Munaf Manji and Dave Essler talk betting for Friday. Munaf Manji and Dave Essler open the holiday weekend with a loaded Friday edition of Cash That Ticket, breaking down four featured MLB matchups before diving into the New York Giants NFL win total and closing with their best bets for the night. The show starts with a recap of Thursday's action, including a walk off win for Dave's best bet with the Cleveland Guardians and a narrow miss on his personal Seattle Mariners play behind a dominant Bryce Miller outing. From there the hosts break down Pittsburgh at Washington, where Foster Griffin's excellent form and edge against left handed hitters make the Nationals a clear first five innings lean, followed by Baltimore at Cincinnati, where hot weather and a rested Orioles club point toward a team total over. The Mets and Braves matchup becomes a bullpen driven under conversation given Christian Scott's inability to work deep into games, while Grant Holmes tries to navigate a Mets lineup he has rarely faced, all while Atlanta continues to play without Ronald Acuña Jr. The fourth featured game brings Michael King back to the mound against Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers one night after a wild slugfest, with both hosts targeting the first five innings under behind King's strong season long trend against Los Angeles hitters not named Freddie Freeman and Kyle Tucker. Beyond the headline games, Munaf flags value on the Rays against a struggling Spencer Arrighetti, while Dave breaks down a market driven angle on Arizona getting extra runs against Kyle Harrison and the Brewers. The back half of the show shifts to football as the pair continue their win total series with the New York Giants, weighing new head coach John Harbaugh's track record of fast turnarounds against the loss of Wan'Dale Robinson to the Titans and the trade of Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals, while balancing those changes against a healthy Malik Nabers, the additions of Odell Beckham Jr. and JuJu Smith-Schuster, and a promising young defensive front led by Abdul Carter and Brian Burns under new coordinator Dennard Wilson. Dave takes the over while Munaf sides with the under, setting up a friendly wager between the two co-hosts heading into the season. The show wraps with best bets for Friday, as Dave splits his play on the Astros and Munaf backs the Nationals on the moneyline, plus a quick look at a WNBA angle favoring the Chicago Sky against A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces. Throughout the episode, listeners are reminded to visit pregame.com and use promo code FIREWORKS12 for the holiday weekend all access package, discounted from eighty nine dollars to seventy seven dollars through Monday night, unlocking every best bet from the full team of Pregame pros. Ken and Daryl Ruiter spend a chunk of the show debating the validity of the NFL Top 100, the player-voted list that just landed Carson Schwesinger at 93rd overall. Ken argues it should carry serious weight since it's voted on by his peers and represents the top five percent of the league, while Daryl dismisses it as a glorified popularity contest he's never gotten into. The two go back and forth comparing it to Hall of Fame voting and past Browns players like Odell Beckham Jr and Nick Chubb, with Ken eventually getting a caller to side with him for the show's Fanatics Cash giveaway. The segment wraps with a tease about more audio coming up where Ken claims vindication on another long-running argument.
Richard Sherman and Mitch dive into the ongoing Brandon Aiyuk situation with the San Francisco 49ers, explaining how relationships, frustration, and contract disputes can spiral out of control. Richard also discusses whether the Los Angeles Rams have overtaken the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West after adding Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns. He reacts to the New England Patriots landing A.J. Brown, what it means for Drake Maye, and how the Philadelphia Eagles move forward without their star receiver. He shares his thoughts on Odell Beckham Jr.'s return to the New York Giants, weighs in on the NFL's decision regarding Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby, and breaks down the biggest quarterback competitions heading into training camp. Finally, Richard ranks the NFL's best QB-WR duos and reveals which combinations he believes are truly elite. The NFL offseason is heating up, and Richard Sherman breaks down the biggest stories across the league. All lines provided by @HardRockBetSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Plus, Craig Carton and Chris McMonigle wonder if this offseason has been too much of a "circus," while Boomer and Gio hope to put a bow on the Jaxson Dart/Abdul Carter drama.
“If we are teammates working towards same goal, how do we grow apart?”-Channing Crowder A Friday with the fellas as Ryan, Channing and Fred unpack the blockbuster headlines in sports this week from AJ Brown to Myles Garrett to Odell Beckham Jr to rising star Jared Verse, discussing how each situation could reshape NFL teams, locker rooms, and championship expectations. The Rams going all in, Patriots and Eagles are all the talk and OBJ reunites with his old team to see if the veteran star can shake up the Big Apple once again. From the gridiron to the hardwood, the guys shifts gears to share their thoughts on the NBA Finals, the biggest storylines, the pressure moments, and which players are built for the spotlight when everything is on the line. They make their picks and give respect to both Knicks and Spurs stars for one of the best championship match ups we've seen in years. As always, the conversation goes far beyond sports, as the trio gets real about the things that run them hot, talk why resilience matters when life gets tough, and how success often comes down to refusing to quit when everything points to giving up. They also explore a reality every athlete—and every person—eventually faces: sometimes people grow apart. Whether it's teammates, friends, or family, they discuss how relationships evolve and what it takes to navigate change without losing yourself. With Jay Z popping back out, dropping some new verses- the guys reflect on when legends age out and when to know it's time. Football, basketball, life lessons, laughs, and unfiltered perspective—it's another can't-miss episode of The Pivot Podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
The final stretch circles back to the Yankees without Aaron Judge, as callers challenge whether Brian Cashman deserves more credit for building a roster that should survive losing its superstar. The debate sharpens into a clear test for Cashman, with the Yankees' division hopes now tied to whether their depth, pitching and young talent can carry them through a long Judge absence. Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber also bounce through Boomer and Gio's Ben Rice bet, Knicks fans trying to balance Finals confidence with old scars, and Evan's brutally honest state of mind as a Nets, Jets and Mets fan watching the rest of New York enjoy the moment. The hour closes with a Giants receiver discussion around Odell Beckham Jr., JuJu Smith-Schuster and what it may take to make the roster.
