Red Sox Review- Despite getting just 2 1/3 combined innings from their starters in games one and two, the Red Sox are heading back to Boston with the ALDS series split at one apiece.  The Red Sox offense was scorching hot in their 14-6 victory, with impressive nights from J.D. Martinez, Kike Hernandez, and Alex Verdugo. Tanner Houck may have been the saving grace for the Red Sox as he relieved Chris Sale, who only lasted one inning, allowing 5 earned runs. Houck threw 5 innings for the Sox, allowing just 2 hits, 1 earned run and striking out 5. The crew talks about the series vs the Indians. How frustrating it's been watching the team play during the Covid situation and how fortunate the Sox have been during the problems. How the guys that have been called up, have contributed since being called up. Game 1: Eovaldi takes the ball and tries to up Sale and Eddies latest inning by going 6.1 innings throwing 98 pitches. Ottavino ended up blowing the game but got the win with the offense.Game 2: The offense looked lost against Eli Morgan. Morgan went 5.2 and did not give up a run. Houck went 5 innings and gave up 0 runs as well. The offense just did not show up until the 7th inning. Alex Verdugo ends up walking it off with a single to right field after the Indians decided to intentionally walk JD to load the bases. Game 3: Kutter Crawford ended up getting called to start this game because Pivetta ended up on the Covid IL. It sucks that this was his debut but the offense didn't show up again until later in the game. With fans back in the stands during the 2021 MLB season, we've seen the return of one of baseball's most unique traditions: fans interacting with outfielders while they're playing in the field. However, as fun as these interactions can be, there are times that the dynamic turns dangerous, like the incident this year where a fan threw a baseball at Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo. Today, we're joined by The Athletic's Eno Sarris to discuss why these interactions are a double-edged sword, and whether they should ultimately be a part of the game. BEERS: Where else but Long Live?! Will swung by the Providence favorite this weekend to try their newest collaboration, “DDH Sea Life,” made in partnership with South Shore-based Vitamin Sea Brewing. With the engagement of so many users on Untappd and beyond, the guys turn this into a discussion on marketing for breweries - how can beer brands use social media to get more customers coming back? Jake reviews Brick Alley House Ale, from the notorious Brick Alley Pub in Newport. A good selection for a humid summer day is awarded the first “situational” ranking in podcast history (we think). BUSINESS (17:17): When David Woodley graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Economics, he never would've imagined the way his career turned. From selling advertisements at popular satire outlet The Onion, to becoming a partner and advisor to large hospitality and podcasting mediums, David has picked up a wealth of knowledge over his journey in corporate America. It's now led him to become the Chief Content & Revenue Officer at Playmaker: a sports media, events, and merchandise company with a 12+ million-follower social footprint. David discusses why Playmaker has been able to garner a titanic following on social media, why their content resonates so well with their followers, and what's next for the brand. David also breaks down Playmaker's endeavors in athlete representation: from Carlos Boozer and Nate Robinson, to college athletes getting a piece of the pie, there's much to be excited about from Playmaker. BALLS: Since we last recorded, the Milwaukee Bucks are 3-0! Are we their X-factor? We predict the results of Game 6 (and potentially Game 7), and break down the Suns' chances of pulling off a solid two-game comeback. The NHL Expansion Draft takes place on Wednesday, which means the Seattle Kraken will officially have a roster. Is the current format of the draft causing more harm than it is good? Finally, Red Sox left fielder Alex Verdugo was plunked with a ball thrown from the crowd mid-game; the fan that hit him has been banned for life at all 30 MLB stadiums. Is this an overreaction or a fitting punishment? Beers, Business, and Balls is brought to you in part by Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies - a convenient and delicious way for everyone to incorporate Apple Cider Vinegar into your daily health routine. The Yankees took 2 of 3 against the Red Sox this weekend with guys like Trey Amburgey, Chris Gittens, Hoy Park, Timmy Locastro, and Greg Allen running the show. They brought speed, heart, and a knowledge of what to do in a baseball game and it was awesome. Gerrit Cole and Jameson Taillon were very good over the weekend as well which helped. Rougned Odor is everywhere and we're all about it. Tommy goes on to make an outrageous prediction. A fan threw a ball at Alex Verdugo on Saturday and we rip him for doing so. A-Rod doesn't know where Joey Gallo would play on this team full of AAA guys. Jasson Dominguez doesn't know how to slide and that needs to change fast. Tommy is confusing people in elevators. We also talk Ugandan Olympics somehow. All that and more on today's show. Outro Song: “In My Bones“ via APM Music Library
