“Om de wooncrisis te bemeesteren hebben we een woonshift nodig”, pleit Vlaams Bouwmeester Véronique Claessens. Opvallend: ze spaart de overheid niet. “Vlaanderen kan sociale woningbouw niet afschuiven op gemeenten alleen.” ­ Bouwt de privémarkt straks het gros van de 50.000 sociale woningen die nodig zijn tegen 2042? Als het van Véronique Claessens afhangt mogelijk wel. De Vlaamse Bouwmeester pleit voor een transitie in het (sociale) woonbeleid. “We gaan sowieso aangewezen zijn op gronden van private eigenaars en private ontwikkelaars. Dus we gaan verplicht zijn om samen te werken.” ­ Makkelijk zal die shift niet worden, beseft de Bouwmeester, want in Vlaanderen is er eigenlijk geen echt bouw- of woonmodel. “Als je een oud systeem wilt afbouwen en een nieuw systeem wilt opbouwen, zit je altijd in een kruispunt waar dat er heel veel chaos is en onzekerheid, en onduidelijkheid. En daar zitten we een beetje in.” ­ Waar we óók anders over moeten denken, is over betaalbare woningen. Volgens Claessens ligt de focus té veel op de prijs, en de stenen, en té weinig op de leefkwaliteit. De inrichting van de open ruimte en de sociale aspecten die bij bepaalde woonvormen horen, zijn minstens even belangrijk. Hoe wil de Vlaamse Bouwmeester dat realiseren? Le Centre de la Gravure et de l'Image Imprimée consacre une exposition au graveur belge Gustave Marchoul (1924-2015). Elle explore à la fois son œuvre et l'impact de son enseignement auprès des artistes qu'il a formés. Gustave Marchoul a marqué l'histoire de la gravure par son approche rigoureuse et innovante des techniques comme l'eau-forte, la pointe sèche et la xylographie. Au-delà de l'hommage personnel, l'exposition dévoile la diversité des créations de ses anciens étudiants de l'Académie de Mons et de l'Atelier de gravure de l'ENSAV La Cambre. Elle évoque aussi sa passion pour le livre et son implication dans l'Atelier du Livre de Mariemont. L'exposition "Celles et ceux de Marchoul" est à voir à La Louvière jusqu'au 18 mai. Kristiaan Borret termine son deuxième mandat en tant que Bouwmeester Maitre-Architecte de la Région Bruxelles-Capitale. La parution de l'ouvrage "Soft Power" (éditions Jan Denoo) est l'occasion de revenir avec lui sur la fonction de bouwmeester, son action au cours des dix dernières années et sa vision actuelle et future pour le développement urbain de la capitale. Journalist Lex Runderkamp heeft met de vervolmaking van zijn documentaireserie ‘De oorlog die nooit ophoudt' een uitroepteken gezet achter zijn carriere als journalist. Sinds vrijdag is hij offcieel met pensioen. Ooit was hij de man achter het legendarische VPRO-programma 'Gouden Bergen'. Voor diezelfde omroep reisde hij over de Zeven Zeeen de Beagle van Charles Darwin achterna. De laatste jaren werkte bij voor het NOS Journaal en was hij getuige van het wereldnieuws. Marit Bouwmeester is de succesvolste sporter uit de Nederlandse watersportgeschiedenis. Naast twee keer olympisch goud won ze ook Olympisch zilver en brons, werd ze drie keer wereldkampioen en was ze vijf keer Europa's beste. De zeilsport heeft haar zoveel gegeven dat ze nu iets terug wil doen. Binnenkort opent de Marit Bouwmeester Academy in Den Haag – met als doel: de watersport toegankelijk maken voor jonge kinderen – misschien wel de olympisch kampioenen van de toekomst.

Titia Bouwmeester is artistiek leider, theaterregisseur en chef-kok. In 2004 richtte ze 5eKwartier op, gespecialiseerd in documentair muziektheater over gemeenschappen in transitie. Het tweede front in de oorlog in het Midden-Oosten lijkt er nu echt te zijn nu de schermutselingen tussen Israël en Hezbollah verder uitbreiden. Volgens brigadegeneraal Han Bouwmeester dreigt een grondoffensief van Israël in het zuiden van Libanon, ook als er een deal met Hamas in Gaza komt. Bouwmeester betwijfelt namelijk of Hezbollah en Hamas echt solidair aan elkaar zijn. 'De Houthi's hebben gezegd te stoppen met hun actie in de Rode Zee als er een staakt-het-vuren komt, maar van Hezbollah hebben we dat nog niet gehoord', aldus Bouwmeester. Leo Van Broeck (1958) was Vlaams bouwmeester van 2016 tot 2020, dat is de persoon die het Vlaamse architectuurbeleid vorm moet geven. Hij is zelf uiteraard architect en oprichter van zijn eigen architectenbureau Bogdan en Van Broeck. En hij geeft ook les, hij is professor bij de ingenieur architecten aan KU Leuven. Maar dit alles wil hij binnenkort minder doen. Minder werken, meer lezen én fotograferen. Want hij is ook fotograaf. In zijn appartement heb ik een indrukwekkend staaltje van zijn kunnen gezien: foto's die eruitzien als kunstwerken. Zijn appartement ligt op de 14de verdieping van een gebouw in het centrum van Brussel, hij legt in deze aflevering uit waarom. Bij het binnenkomen zag ik behalve veel kunst, ook gitaren staan en een piano. We gingen aan tafel zitten, met een fabelachtig uitzicht over heel Brussel. Ons gesprek gaat over zijn zoon, die hij noemde naar een romanpersonage, over ruimtelijke ordening en biodiversiteit. Over zijn opleiding bij de Jezuïeten in Antwerpen, zijn engagement in het leven. En bij zijn derde boek wordt hij zo emotioneel dat hij met tranen in de ogen tegenover mij zit.
