006 - Sometimes Coaches Need Coaching Too

Breaking habits, and changing your life is no joke! The moment you start breaking habituated patterns your primitive brain puts on the emergency brake, and starts looking for the (non-existent) heard of wild, ravenous tigers trying to eat you. Over-drama much? Well, beautiful Explorers, that is simply how your brain is wired. Any disturbance in the Force is viewed as an immediate threat to the status quo. Hiring a life coach can help you see through that primitive survival mechanism that, if unchallenged, can keep you fearful, afraid, and oh, so small and silent. I am certainly no different. I'm getting healthy, and must overcome a lifetime of mind programming that kept me obese, led to the formation of dis-ease in my body, and could ultimately lead to decline and decay of my health in catastrophic ways. I'm a life coach who believes passionately in the power of having a great coach in your corner, and when I came to a challenge I had not mastered, I turned to Self Coaching Scholars.

Judgy McJudgerton rides again, y'all! In this episode, I share a life lesson I learned from the death of my beloved rolling pin, and my search for its replacement. Not pretty, not proud, but I wrongly judged an inanimate object - and those who use it.

Hi Adventurers! I'd love for you to meet Jill Angie. If you haven't already heard of this remarkable woman, ya gotta. Let's let Jill introduce herself... I’m Jill Angie, the founder and Head Rebel of Not Your Average Runner. When I first started running over 20 years ago, all I wanted to do was burn calories and lose weight. And I hated every minute of it. It felt like punishment and I was always frustrated and disappointed. In 2009 I decided to stop thinking about running as a means to an end and started using it as a tool to build up my strength and confidence. That mental shift got me through all the times when running wasn’t easy (and there were a lot of those times)! I became a triathlete. I ran half marathons. I became a personal trainer with my own studio. And I noticed that as vast as the running community was, there weren’t a lot of people out there who looked like me. I knew how awesome running made me feel, and I wanted to help other women like me get the same benefit – not just improved fitness, but increased self-confidence and self-love. So I wrote a book and became a running and life coach! I love coaching and I love seeing so many women join our #NotYourAverageRunner movement, and I’m incredibly honored to support women like you who want to change their lives through running. Please support Jill by buying her book, or join her coaching program #RunYourBestLife. Definitely consider joining her Not Your Average Runner Facebook group, where you'll find lots of supportive new friends.

    003 - What I'm Reading These Days

Here are a list of the things I'm reading as I seek to understand obesity, and maintain optimum health on my Adventure in Wellness. In episode 001, I shared with you how I was recently diagnosed with several obesity related health problems, high blood pressure and borderline type 2 diabetes. Obesity FINALLY caught up with me, so I decided the medical path of medication, followed by managed decline of progressively deteriorating health, is not for me. I decided to explore, embrace, and embody TRUE Health for the first time in decades. I am a life coach who built my practice by empowering obese women to love themselves AS IS. After losing over 100 pounds several times before, only to windup fat again, I ditched the "diet mentality" years ago, but, in doing so, also gave up on the notion that a healthy relationship with food while trying to get healthy was even possible. Standing on a firm foundation of love and self-acceptance, I believe it's time to approach a journey toward vibrant health once again. Please join me on this Adventures in Wellness...

Let me introduce you to Nikki Cohn-Byrd! Nikki is a New Orleans local Inspirational Health Speaker and Transformational Health Coach, founder of the "Live It Lifestyle" brand, and Welliance America, a startup dedicated to transforming the healthcare sector. Her passion is helping professional and entrepreneurial women avoid the ‘dieting pitfalls’...so they can lose weight and regain their confidence without sacrificing their business or personal lives.
