Send us a Text Message.Jill Angie is a trailblazer.  She is changing the conversation for fat women over 40 and for anyone who thinks they're too old or too slow. She is making huge waves in the running game and it was an absolute joy to share an hour with her.I am currently training for a marathon and Jill's own podcasts have inspired me and have been my constant companion on my long solo training runs. When Jill started running over 20 years ago, all she wanted to do was burn calories and lose weight but she hated every minute of it.  It felt punishing and she was always frustrated and disappointed.  So in 2009 she decided to stop thinking about running as a means to an end and started using it as a tool to build up her strength and confidence. She has built a running community around her and  helps women become consistent exercisers and silence their inner bullies and find out what their bodies are truly capable of. * We chatted easily about our running challenges, how to overcome the mental battles and be ok with not achieving a PB and not running the fastest race.We talk about the definition of success when it comes to running and why we feel we have to push ourselves so hard.Jill reminds us all that if you have a body and you run, you have a runner's body.I hope this episode blows you away and helps you challenge your inner critic and stop shoulding all over yourself. You can find Jill on Instagram or via her website.*(Find out more about Jill's 'Run Your Best Life' program here.) An episode for beginner runners. I hear it all the time! “I just don't like running!” I get it. I used to feel that way too. But if running is available to you and you want to do it, there are huge benefits to developing a running habit: it's relatively inexpensive to get into; it's something you can do either by yourself or with a friend or two; you can pretty much do it anywhere; and at any time of the day. My guest on today's podcast shares such incredible information, like how to keep yourself motivated even if the climate you live in gets in your way of being a year-round runner, what to look for & pay attention to with gear, and how to start your running practice if you're a complete beginner. About Jill Angie: Jill Angie is the founder and Head Rebel of Not Your Average Runner. When I first started running over 20 years ago, all I wanted to do was burn calories and lose weight. And I hated every minute of it. It felt like punishment and I was always frustrated and disappointed. In 2009, I decided to stop thinking about running as a means to an end and started using it as a tool to build up my strength and confidence. That mental shift got me through all the times when running wasn't easy (and there were a lot of those times)! I became a triathlete. I ran half marathons. I became a personal trainer with my own studio. And I noticed that as vast as the running community was, there weren't a lot of people out there who looked like me. I knew how awesome running made me feel, and I wanted to help other women like me get the same benefit – not just improved fitness, but increased self-confidence and self-love.

When other doctors ask me what I do, I tell them rather simply I help runners figure out how to stay fit, hang onto their running fitness and get back to running as quickly as possible. The other day I was talking to a woman, who wanted my help and wanted to schedule a consultation, and she committed what I call the cardinal sin of runner-self-criticism. She said, “I know you only work with runners. I only ran 2.65 miles yesterday, and so I am not really a runner." When she said that, I not only immediately thought of Jill Angie from the Not Your Average Runner Podcast…but I found myself quoting her!!! The very next day I asked Jill if she would come back on the show to share some of her insight, wisdom and glowing energy with all of you today. Today on the Doc On the Run Podcast, we're talking about how you can get back to running in 30 days.

The biggest key to successful manifesting... Is being consistent. Being consistent leads to consistent results. And not being consistent is one of the biggest reasons people don't build manifesting momentum, especially in the beginning.  Jill Angie teaches people how to become consistent exercisers, which is why I invited her back to Manifesting Success Stories this week. In this week's show, Jill is sharing some of the powerful ways she helps people become consistent exercisers and we talk about how to apply that to manifesting.  If there are things that get in your way of being a consistent manifestor, I bet we cover them in this episode. Make sure to listen and start becoming more consistent today.  One way to become consistent with your manifesting practice is to know EXACTLY what to do everyday. Manifest $10K takes care of for you! With anything, you are or you are not. The choice is yours.  You are a manifestor, or you're not. If you've manifested anything, even a penny when you asked for more money, you are a manifestor. When you own that, your manifesting world will open up. One of my amazing friends, Jill Angie, says, “If you run, you are a runner.” She teaches women who have never felt athletic and might look the oppositie of #runners to feel powerful, and confident while being runners.  This week on Manifesting Success Stories, Jill and I talk in detail about stepping in and owning the “beingness” of who you want to be, whether that is a runner or a manifestor.  You will also get to hear about how Jill became the first person ever to take the Future Self workshop and what a difference it's made years later. If you have ever disqualified yourself from being something you wanted to be, make sure to listen to this week's episode.  Then decide who you want to be. Cheers to being a manifestor or runner or whoever else you want to be.

Hey listeners. It's me, Jackie on June 8, 2020 and I've been listening to a lot of podcasts and people out there. I've been wanting to make a message, but IDK what to say. I don't understand what's changed. Social distancing is what worked, I don't understand what's changed. In Montana it's pretty much non-existent, people are hugging everywhere. I'm worried I may never see my mom again. IDK where you are, my cousin has posted this isn't coming out anything like I wanted it to come out. I love Jill Angie and Angela Watson both recommend reading White Fragility.  White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism (https://amzn.to/2BIWqqx) My big bout with white privilege came out in 2013, and we were taking a vocabulary class. I felt like they were trying to instigate something between the blackfeet native americans and the white teachers on the staff. I asked someone and said do you look at me like a white person? and they were like heck yeah! There were other teachers native americans who thought they were trying to create trouble. But I was so wrong and ignorant.  I certainly have experienced white privilege growing up in a very white suburb on long island and then in Montana that is very white. I'm not even sure what to say, thats why I haven't said anything yet. I am praying for you and everyone. I am sooooo thankful for you my listeners. I feel like you probably feel as much about social justice as caring for mother earth. I try to explain that to friends on Facebook. We're putting it up because when I see a colleague or a parent clicks like, I feel closer to them when I see them in the hallway or classroom it makes me feel better to see they feel like I do.  I started this because I walked past Mike's minifarm. I was tossing and turning last night worrying why didn't I put my broccolis in. Mike's minifarm the potatoes are growing like crazy. I'm gonna release the woman from soil kit today from Alabama by the  we did the minifarm yesterday I spent a lot of time looking, googling our soil ph was a 7.8, what does that mean? I think it's all the eggshells we have so much calcium. Lots of things grow good in a 7.8ph like asparagus. "Vegetable garden plants such as asparagus, beets, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, carrots, lettuce, parsley and spinach grow well in soils whose pH is between 7 and 8." (https://youtu.be/5MouIwwkxnM) https://landscape-water-conservation.extension.org/solutions-to-soil-problems-high-ph/ (https://landscape-water-conservation.extension.org/solutions-to-soil-problems-high-ph/) Best thing to add is organic matter, which mike is gonna mulch, if you have not listened to Andrew Mefferd's interview, I would just read the book. You would not beliee how much it helped tim, time and labor, be able to lift that tarp adn turn things over with the broadfork, his soil is so rich. We got very high, or very hgih, there was no average in any of mike's soil. I feel like we should do a test in the regular garden. I guess the ideal conditions for a soil test is between 6-7ph she talks about Espoma, we actually have Espoma blood meal we bought when he was doing the straw bales, if you listen to the interview with Joel Karsten, but we hd the probelm of the fence got left open and the deer ate the tomatoes. I have definitely been super depressed. IDK if it's my personality, a very strong leo in the middle of the summer of love outside of NYC back in 1967. It's interesting I declared 2020 to be the year I smiled back in January, I don't feel like I didn't see my kids, because we did see each other every day, but we just didn't get that much work done.  I hope you're well and our planet comes out on a better side of us. I think it's a very scary time, but probably an important time, if something good comes out from it. I made my kids a page of screenshots of us together teaching online and I feel like that's a piece Support this podcast

Hi Adventurers! I'd love for you to meet Jill Angie. If you haven't already heard of this remarkable woman, ya gotta. Let's let Jill introduce herself... I’m Jill Angie, the founder and Head Rebel of Not Your Average Runner. When I first started running over 20 years ago, all I wanted to do was burn calories and lose weight. And I hated every minute of it. It felt like punishment and I was always frustrated and disappointed. In 2009 I decided to stop thinking about running as a means to an end and started using it as a tool to build up my strength and confidence. That mental shift got me through all the times when running wasn’t easy (and there were a lot of those times)! I became a triathlete. I ran half marathons. I became a personal trainer with my own studio. And I noticed that as vast as the running community was, there weren’t a lot of people out there who looked like me. I knew how awesome running made me feel, and I wanted to help other women like me get the same benefit – not just improved fitness, but increased self-confidence and self-love. So I wrote a book and became a running and life coach! I love coaching and I love seeing so many women join our #NotYourAverageRunner movement, and I’m incredibly honored to support women like you who want to change their lives through running. Please support Jill by buying her book, or join her coaching program #RunYourBestLife. Definitely consider joining her Not Your Average Runner Facebook group, where you'll find lots of supportive new friends.

One of my early 2019 highlights was helping to coordinate the Skirt Sports spring studio shoot. This was basically the culmination of my creative vision for our brand and our new products, so while coordinating all the details of a shoot is not really in my wheelhouse, the energy, the fun, and the final product are worth going out of my comfort zone. One of the collections that we are very excited to launch is our new line for women who wear sizes 1x, 2x and 3x. Some companies refer to this as plus sizing or extended sizing. We prefer not to call it out but simply refer to the fact that we now offer sizes that include even more women. At the end of the shoot, four of us sat down and talked all things empowering. Over the past few years it has hit me that the old definition of a sponsored or featured athlete has changed dramatically. I should know – I used to be a sponsored athlete who made money because of my great race results. Today, brands are discovering that winning races is not necessarily the end-all. As the leader of Skirt Sports, I realized long ago that it is so much more powerful to showcase real women’s stories, from all the different places in the pack. Today’s podcast is about strong, empowered, imperfect women who are moving their lives forward in positive ways while learning from and supporting each other along the way. They are all featured women in the launch of our new Collection for women who wear sizes 1x to 3x. Meet the ultimate champion of women, Jill Angie, aka Not Your Average Runner. As implied she is absolutely NOT average in any way, shape or form. First, she’s a self-described fat runner who started running in her late 20s because she believed being thin was the secret to the universe and the path to happiness. What she found after many stops and starts is that the REAL secret to the universe is to understand that the only thing we have control over is our brains and the choices we make. Including the choice to be happy. Jill and I traveled in concentric circles for many years. We came to the worlds of health and fitness in very different ways, but our end-goals are the same. We want to help women find happiness! And men too because when women are happy, let’s face it, men benefit too! When Jill and I finally connected on the phone, it was like a match made in heaven. I felt so special until I realized something. Jill is the kind of human being who makes every single person she comes into contact with feel special. So I felt even more special to have the opportunity to spend an hour with her. This episode is a dual play – we both have podcasts, so we’re both publishing it. Be sure to check out Jill’s other episodes at Not Your Average Runner Podcast. Did I mention she’s also a life coach, so there is a lot to learn from her! Before we start, I have two quick updates. Jill Angie is the “Not Your Average Runner” Founder and Coach.   Jill was the first person to go through my workshop and she doubled her business in 10 days because she stepped into the person who made a difference and inspired the people who she wanted to inspire and was able to write emails from that inspired place. It became easy and effortless to sell out her program.   At times you step into a version of yourself because you need to know you can do it.   Old Money Story No One Will Pay For This at $398/year! New Money Story $6K Running Coach Builds A Tribe   WHO IS JILL ANGIE   Not Your Average Runner is for women who haven’t considered themselves athletic, are in the 40-50 age range and want to rid extra weight and feel more confident, happier and healthier. Her clients may feel like running is not within their grasp. Jill helps them change their life as a life coach, running coach and personal trainer. Jill helps people change things through the eyes of running.   LIVE MORE INTO WHAT YOU DO   My favorite quote from Jill Angie is this, “If you run, you are a runner.”   Many people think running has to look a certain way - as far a speed, size of your body, etc. but only 5-10 % of the running population look like they just came off of Running Magazine’s cover.  In fact, most people who run do so at different speeds, have different body shapes, some of us run/walk, etc. Running is basically faster than a walk.   This same concept applies to what we do here to on the More Money Show. If you manifest money at all, you are a money manifestor.   Let’s find out what has happened with Jill in the last two years.   EVOLUTION OF NOT YOUR AVERAGE RUNNER   In 2013, Jill wrote the book “Running with Curves” and she was doing personal training from her Philadelphia home. The book is about how you can start running in the body you have right now. Women started reading the book and emailing her and finding her on Facebook that Jill had changed their life.   She was pleasantly surprised and wondered what she could really do with it.   For most of 2014 she wondered how she could incorporate this into her business.   She started working with a business coach who told Jill she should start a year long program and Jill thought that was a terrible idea that no one would do. She told the coach, “No one would ever pay for that”.  The coach encouraged her to try anyway.   Eventually Jill launched this very underpriced program at $398/year plus a free retreat. Jill lost a ton of money on her first program but she sold it out. What Jill learned from this was how to launch a program, what worked in that business model, what she liked and what she didn’t, and who her ideal client was.  This was an investment in her confidence, skills and ability as a coach.   She wanted to sell it for thousands of dollars but her money mindset and worth as a coach kept her from that. She raised the price over the next few months and a year later, she easily sold the same program for $6,000.   JILL KNEW JUST ENOUGH TO LAUNCH HER BUSINESS   For Jill it was all about the learning process of being a coach. The program was basically “If you are overweight and struggling to run, I can help”.   In order to be a coach, you have to be coaching. The magic happens when you are coaching not when you are trying to figure it out.   Jill originally thought this model should include a weekly group coaching call, discussions on their training plans, guest speakers on webinars, teach extensive lessons and having a detailed website full of content but her coach encouraged her to do something different.   Jill started with a free Facebook group and a weekly call using a free conference call number for the first six months of her program. What her clients really needed was time with her.   JILL INVESTED MONEY TO LEARN   For the first year, Jill used free resources - Facebook group, free conference call, zoom so she had no technical costs in the beginning.   In 18 months, she went from charging $400 to $6,000 for her program.   Jill raised her program every time she “knew” it was time, she just knew. When it felt like it was time, she changed it. Everytime she raised the price, it became easier to sell. This was a fascinating concept to her. When she believed the program was worth more, that came through in her promotion of it.   Because Jill started her business in this way, the perfect system showed up a year later because Jill now knew what she needed.   JILL INVESTED IN HER OWN CONFIDENCE Jill just launched a $20/month membership group for her community which allows Jill to influence and help more people. She loved the idea of building and working with a huge tribe. This membership group includes a weekly coaching call on zoom and a place where people can get their questions answered from a $6,000/year running coach.   It has been wildly successful and fun so far.   The people in this group are varied. Some people have never ran before and some people are doing their first marathon. It is great because new people can see what is further down the road for them, and people who are struggling can ask for help for their personal training plan.     Jill has realized that she needed to prove to herself that she could charge a $6,000/year package so that she could now decide what price point she wanted to sell her program at. This gave her confidence. She now sees the worth in her own program.   Now she sells her membership program at $20/mo because it feels fun, easy and amazing. Everyone can do it.   YOU ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS THE COMMITMENT YOU MAKE TO YOURSELF   Jill started her business so she could come to work everyday and have fun.   The clients who got results in her $6,000 program were the clients who showed up and did the work they needed to. People can get the same results with Jill by paying $20/month.  Jill has realized in this process, “You are only as good as the commitment you make to yourself.”   The concept holds true for all people from coaches to course participants.   Jill is an instructor for her Life Coach School and one of the things they make all their coaches do before they get their certification, is coach non-paying clients for 3 months. This helps them learn their skill and not worry about selling. The magic comes in getting to do what you do. This can be coaching, running or anything that you do.   I LOVED HELPING JILL GAIN CONFIDENCE   Jill said working with me became life-altering. She said she was all in her mind before working with me and that I showed her that she could drop all of this head stuff long enough to look at possibility. Jill says this was a turning point in her career.   CONNECT WITH JILL   Watch for periodic openings for Jill’s monthly program at http://runyourbestlife.com or her main website at http://notyouraveragerunner.com
