Have you ever wanted to live in a world where you could just be yourself? Well, good news! You can! It's not always easy to be yourself, but it IS doable. Be You with Jackie Moore is a short, daily podcast by Jackie Moore that will give you the courage each day to be who YOU were created to be. Most…
What's the most comforting thing you've heard this year?"Target has toilet paper." "Football is not cancelled.""It's all going to be better eventually."Or maybe it's been none of those? For me, the most comforting thing I've been told is "God is with you."In this episode I'll explain why sitting with this truth, and viewing it from a different perspective, is the best way to prepare your heart to celebrate Christmas.
Jackie and her husband, Brandon, have a conversation about the process they underwent to ensure they are obedient in their move to North Carolina! They walk through the process of personal obedience that Jackie talked about in Episode 57!
Hey there! I'm picking up where I left off with the Process of Obedience. I encourage you to go back and listen to part one and part two for context on where we are today! In today's episode I walk through what I find to be a helpful process in trying to make sure I'm obedient to the Lord when decisions come up! I ask 5 questions that are all listed here on the resource I've provided. Even if you don't have a big decision coming up, my ultimate goal with this episode is to encourage you to dive deeper into your relationship with Christ!
Psalm 119:116 says "Sustain me according to your word, that I may live; and do not let me be ashamed of my hope." First, I don't think I'll ever get over Psalm 119 having 176 verses. Second, this verse did some really weird things for my heart and mind when I read it. Which is somewhat fitting, giving that our entire reality right now is w-e-i-r-d.The Holy Spirit used this verse to fully reveal to me that maybe, potentially, it might be that it feels cliche to tell people to hope in Jesus during this time because some of my hope has gotten misplaced along the way. Hopefully in between all the memes and entertainment, we can be a little more intentional about realigning our hope. Oh, and Brandon is on this one. And he's super great. :)
Hey! Welcome back to the Be You with Jackie Moore Podcast. In this episode I want to expound on why obedience is important. Aside from the fact that God tells us to be obedient, in the scriptures we see obedience providing protection, promoting Christ-likeness, and fostering intimacy with God. I'll also address what to do when we find ourselves not being obedient. I use a ton of scripture in this episode so I hope you're ready to dive in with me! Scripture
Hi, friends! Welcome back - alllll the way back! I am so pumped to start putting out episodes on a consistent basis again because I have a real, legitimate plan and real, legitimate T-I-M-E since we have moved to North Carolina because I’m not teaching anymore. But I don’t want to spoil anything! I’m getting ahead of myself. Back to my plan! I am kicking off the new year with a 4-part series called “The Process of Obedience.” Which I am simultaneously pumped about and like mortified about. Because I feel really strongly about not being a hypocrite. So I can’t talk about obedience and not BE obedient during this time. Actually, that makes it sound like I’m just going to be obedient for a month and then go back to doing my own thing doesn’t it?! May I be obedient now and forever more. LOL I chose “Process of Obedience” because the ability to be obedient is a dang process. If you feel the same, join me on this four week series!Check out jackiemoore.org/resources for the resource mentioned on the episode!
The highly anticipated Kanye West album has me and Brandon talking! We decided to hop on the mic's and record an episode about Kanye and his transformation. We then transition into talking about the Gospel and how to see the world with a Gospel lens! Enjoy!
Hey people! Have you ever wondered if persecution was real? I mean, we live in America! Christians have it pretty easy, right?Well I think we can move our understanding of persecution beyond our typical understanding and realize that anyone who follows Christ can (and will) be persecuted. We are in John 11, 12, & 17 and 1 John today! jackiemoore.org
So, this is the episode where I say "like" 1,265 times. BUT, if you can get over that, this is probably one of my favorite episodes ever! Like, ever. ;-) My dear friend, Tate, and I talk through what it has meant for God to call us to serve Him through hospitality. We talk about what it is like to be on the receiving end of hospitality as well as all the blessing and refinement that comes from being obedient to what the Lord has asked us to do. We also laugh a lot. And, as noted earlier, I say "like" a lot. All the laughing brought out the high school girl in me, apparently. No judging, please. Just enjoy. :)jackiemoore.org
Hey there! On today's episode I interview one of my best friends, Brie Beeks! We were in Florida a few weeks ago to see them (her, her husband, Jalen, and their kids) and I just knew we had to do an interview! I hope you enjoy our conversation about staying grounded, friendship, and what God can teach us in the midst of chaos!
About 6 months in to our marriage, Brandon sat down beside me and said, "I think we should plant a garden." He then proceeded to talk about all the different fruits and veggies that we could grow and how wonderful it would be. He even talked about killing our own meat (he's never hunted a day in his life). I turned to him, gave him a kiss on the forehead, and said, "Babe, we live in a hotel." And I got up and walked away. We really were living in a hotel at that time because we were in Arizona for Spring Training, but we still don't have a garden. And we don't live in a hotel anymore. Let's just say gardening isn't really my specialty... But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the intricacies of what is required to make things grow. In this episode, the focus is on the soil.Scripture Used: Luke 8:4-15
Here it is, the episode we've all been dreading. Oh wait, maybe that was just me. Let me rephrase: the episode I'VE been dreading! See, the thing about talking about something you're bad at is that it's never fun. Because now you have people holding you accountable! But, maybe that's the whole point? Maybe that's the reason God tells us to not just confess our sins to Him, but to confess our sins to one another as well. And I, friends, wish I was perfect. No... I obsessively wish I was perfect. And thus, a slightly less than perfect episode.Grace to you (and to me, honestly!)
"So how's your quiet time been going lately?" This question can evoke a wide range of thoughts and emotions! For some people, it may bring a sense of joy and happiness at the thought of getting to share with others all that God has been teaching them! For other people, it can bring a sense of panic because..well...maybe their quiet time hasn't been that good lately and they feel like they're about to be exposed! The question sends them into the moral dilemma of, "Do I give a general, vague, answer, or be honest?!?"Yet still others may feel confusion. They think they know what the phrase means but they aren't totally sure if they're doing it just right. Well I have been all of those people. Sometimes, all within one week! On this episode, Brandon and I hope to help define not only what a quiet time is, but what quality time with God is also. We really try to do this in a tangible way. Hope you are encouraged!
Recently I have been doing basically 3 things with my life:Organizing my closetTrying to figure out if Tom Holland and Zendaya are dating, and asking God to draw me closer to Him(Note: not listed in order of importance!)#1 is going significantly better than #2 - I only have one closet/room left and I am knocking it ALL the way out tomorrow. For #2, there is technically no social media evidence, but I remain convinced they are secretly dating. I'll keep you posted! #3 is going beautifully, truly! The process of drawing closer to God is often a lot of things, sometimes hard or unexpected, but I think it is always beautiful. One way He's drawing me back to Him is reminding me of two things: Think about myself lessRemember what He's doneGod has been reminding me of this story all week! Hope you enjoyScripture - Luke 10:30-37
So, I keep trying to think of ways to start this without saying something cheesy like, "Sun! Beach! Sand! Oh my!" Or, "Sand is great for exfoliating your feet, but not a great foundation." Perhaps, "You know what's tougher than trying to run on sand? Making it a foundation for your house." Or maybe I should just type out the entire "The wise man built his house upon the rock" song. Clearly, I have summer brain and my writing skills are currently verrrrrrrry sub-par. BUT! The show must go on! Or the new episode must go live, anyway. So, this has been my attempt at trying to creatively tell you that in this episode I'm talking about building your life on Jesus and not on anything else while simultaneously trying to avoid telling you too much detail so that you will actually listen to the new episode and not view this blog post as sufficient enough encouragement. Soooooooo while you listen to this episode, I'll be working on my writing skills. Grace to you! (And for sure to me.) Scripture - Matthew 7:24-27
Have you ever just wanted to hear a “magic, quick-fix, never struggle with it again” positive body image talk? Because, S.A.M.E.! Unfortunately, I have yet to come across that. I’m actually growing more and more convinced it does not (and will not) ever exist. But equally unfortunate is that I still struggle to have a positive body image (and self image) from time to time.In this episode I talk about my own personal struggle with this, and how Jesus has helped me with walking in the full joy of exactly who He created me to be. Like I mentioned earlier - not a quick fix! But my prayer is that if you implement some of the actions I talk about, then you will have a more positive view of yourself AND a closer relationship with Jesus.Scripture UsedEphesians 4:29Proverbs 18:21John 16:33Philippians 4:8Psalm 139:14
Do you ever feel like gentleness is only obtainable by Kindergarten teachers and the extra holy saints? Well, apparently it's not. Apparently it's for everyone because it's a fruit of the Spirit. But don't feel bad if this fruit isn't always flourishing for you because I have to admit it doesn't always flourish for me. In this episode we'll break down how we can all be gentle because we are all called to be like Jesus. jackiemoore.org
In this episode we will cover the fifth fruit of the Spirit - kindness. Being kind is an attribute championed by many groups in our world right now and I LOVE it. Even so, it can be a bit of an ambiguous term because it can look like so many different things. So, let's look at how Jesus lives out kindness. Since He did everything perfectly, He was probably kinda good at it. jackiemoore.org
In this episode we will start looking at what it means to be like Jesus by walking through each of the elements listed in the fruit of the Spirit. Since love is first, and I’m a by the book kinda girl, we will go ahead and start with love. I truly think if we can get a grasp on what love is, we could change our world. And if enough of us change our personal worlds, who’s to say we can’t change the whole big thing? jackiemoore.org
Fake it till you make it, amirite? Faking it, though, can get us in trouble sometimes. In this episode I’ll talk about the difference between acting a certain way and being a certain way. I have personally been learning that I am acting in some areas I didn’t necessarily think I was. And acting can get exhausting if we are honest. jackiemoore.org
In Episode 6 I will dive into what exactly does it mean to compare. Like tangibly, what does that look like? Sometimes we can be comparing ourselves with other those around us without even realizing it. Comparison, insecurity, identity aren’t just girl issues, they are human issues. No matter what angle you’re coming from though, comparison is a killjoy. jackiemoore.org
Isn’t it easy to look at other people and think they’re a bit odd sometimes? I mean let’s just be real for a second. Most of the time we think people are a bit odd when they somehow function differently than we function. Then, before we know it we are thinking we are better than someone OR someone else is better than us. In this episode we will talk about how to respond in situations where we are different from other people –with a focus in the beginning about our ability to plan. Song that I almost quoted: Andy Mineo - You Can't Stop Me jackiemoore.org
Only one time has the hero in the story died for the villain - Jesus on the cross. But who are we in the story? Surely not the villain, right? We discuss that today alongside a little Avengers. Don't worry, no spoilers
To be empowered as a Christian is to be full of Jesus - but what happens when we refuse to be empowered? Better yet, we refuse the power of empowerment. It's something we all do, but how? How do we stop? All that and more in todays episode!
Today I take a break from my typical devotional form and dive deeply into cultural relevancy. Admittedly, I'm a little hesitant to go this route today. In a culture that celebrates headlines and often fails to listen for more than just a few seconds I run the risk of being misunderstood. My heart is truly burdened for reconciliation and life for all.
No one in their right mind would go confess to their doctor that they get all the nutrients they need from veggie straws and fruit snacks. Those manufactured fruits and veggies just aren't going to cut it! Could it be, though, that we sometimes try to manufacture our Spiritual fruit? Jesus gave us clear instructions on this.... we discuss it on today's podcast.
Have you ever been a shepherd? Do you know how stinky that job is? Literally! The shepherd's in the story of the birth of Christ have an unexpected response to the news that the Messiah has come. But given the required faithfulness to be a good shepherd, is their response all that unexpected?
God had his hand in the entire story of the birth of Christ - the protection of the wise men is no different. Take a listen and consider what area God is calling you towards obedience in!
Elizabeth didn't have to respond well to the baby in Mary's belly. She could have condemned her for being pregnant out of wedlock, or too young, or irresponsible... We don't see her respond that way, though, we see her response as one that is filled with the Holy Spirit and as one that gives life to Mary.
Believe is a popular word this time of year. But what does it mean? What are we supposed to believe? How do we believe? What are the implications if we don't? Listen to find out.
Hey ya'll! I'm back from my hiatus. It was a crazy time through the month of October and November but I'm excited to start back the podcast! Instead of a new episode daily, I will be posting on M/W/F. Thanks for sticking with me and enjoy the podcast!
Happy Monday! Walking in obedience is not for the faint of heart. In fact, walking in obedience can feel almost impossible sometimes. But, we have the Holy Spirit living in us, therefore I believe we can do it! facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
On todays episode I invite a friend to join me... you'll never guess who it is! We talk about our relationships with Christ, what He is showing us, and how He has grown us over the years. facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
Brandon: "What do you want the description to be?" Jackie: "I don't know, maybe something about Jesus?" Well, here it is... Jesus is good and so is His word. facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
We finish out Psalm 139 today. My favorite part! The last two verses are literally the reason I decided to go through the whole chapter. facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
You know how sometimes you read a passage in the Bible and then you look up and think, "what in the world does that even mean?" Well, that was me in Psalm 139:19-22. BUT after prayer and talking through it with Brandon, I think I actually have an idea of what the Lord is trying to teach us! Oh, and I also talk about Alabama Football, so that's fun! facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
This episode is WILD ya'll. You don't want to miss it! What's more wild than this episode though? Something that happened at our Lifeway store this week! To find out what it was, you'll just have to listen.... facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
Even if this is your first time going through Psalm 139, the verses we cover today may be verses you've already heard before - but don't let that stop you from listening. Sometimes God works most deeply in the most familiar places. facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
It seems like this is the week that my vocal chords decided to take a week off. Pre-teen, cracked-voice, Jackie doesn't sound too bad, though, right?? Anyways, we continue in Psalm 139 and continue to talk about how awesome God is! facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
A raspy voice sure sounds cute on a 5 year old, doesn't it! How do you think it sounds on a grown up with a podcast? Find out today! You are loved by God, don't forget it. facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
Disclaimer: I sound like I'm pinching my nose the whole time.... but the show much go on! We are starting a new series this week in Psalm 139, one of my favorite Psalms. SO let's open it up together! facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
Today on the podcast I am interviewing my best friend in the whooooooole world... my husband! He's done so much behind the scenes work and has sat in on every episode as he records so I wanted to talk to him about Be You from his perspective. Facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
On this episode we finish off the fruit of the Spirit by explaining the few verses that follow the 9 fruit! facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
You probably never thought we would make it to the last fruit listed in Galatians 5, but here we are! Today I talk about self-control and where we see Jesus modeling it perfectly. facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
Ask any of the girls I disciple what my go-to phrase is and they’ll say, “Faithful over famous.” I mean does it get more true? It’s a reference from a KB song, “No Chains” and God has used it tremendously in my life! Facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore Twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
Isn't hard to trust God is good sometimes? Like, will he really not hurt me if I get close to Him? I think that sometimes, but it's true, he really is good. He will never draw us in, only to stab us in the back. I'm purposefully stretching goodness into a third episode! facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore jackiemoore.org
Today's episode is the second on goodness! The Lord is sooo good, isn't he!? I am thankful he does not withhold his goodness from us in any way. Facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
In today's episode we will be talking about goodness. What does it mean? How is it defined? What is its opposite? This is one of two episodes on goodness. facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
It's Friday and I am exhausted! But the Lord is good. In this episode I break down Jeremiah 17:5-8. The Lord makes it clear that there are some people who trust in mankind, and some who trust in Him. In the passage He breaks down the results and consequences of each! Let this episode encourage you to try less, and rely more. facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
In this episode we will talk about patience. And it will be O. K. Truly, it will be just fine. (In that it will literally be fine, not the ‘everything is wrong but I don’t want to admit it’ fine.) God doesn’t lead us to be patient to make us miserable. He wants us to learn this so we can be like Jesus, and therefore, who we are created to be. facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
I piggy-back off the last episode of peace by explaining the peace that Jesus gives us! We’ll dive deeper into scripture on this episode. Facebook.com/beyouwithjackiemoore twitter.com/jackieeemoore instagram.com/jackiejmoore jackiemoore.org
