Is your life operating from a place of blessing, or are you constantly striving to earn it?In the kickoff message of our new summer series, Is This Thing On?, Travis Aicklen dives deep into the profound, exponential power of our words. Far from just a polite cliché or a quick response to a sneeze, a true biblical blessing is the projection of good into the life of another person. By examining the roots of the word—from the Old Testament Barak to the New Testament Eulogia—this sermon challenges us to break free from insecurity, comparison, and the "blessing deficit" that plagues so many families. Discover how to speak life, direct your future, and operate from the secure identity of being fully loved and blessed by God.Key Points & Scripture ReferencesWork From Blessing, Not For It: Before humanity ever accomplished a single task, God created and blessed them. Just like Jesus at his baptism, we are designed to work from a place of blessing and affirmation, rather than striving to earn it. (Genesis 1:27-29)The Danger of the Deficit: The story of Jacob highlights the brokenness and deception that occur when we live with an orphan spirit, desperately trying to scheme our way into receiving a blessing. (Genesis 27)Blessings Must Be Spoken Out Loud: A blessing isn't truly a blessing until it leaves your lips. We must actively and verbally "eulogize" (speak well of) the people in our lives to empower them. (Luke 24, Proverbs 31)Words Direct Our Future: Just like the rudder of a ship, the words we speak—whether blessings or curses—set the trajectory for our lives and the lives of those around us. (James 3)Our Spiritual Inheritance: Through Christ, we have been redeemed from the curse and have already been given every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. We are blessed to be a blessing. (Ephesians 1, Galatians 3)Call to ActionTake a close inventory of your words this week. Are you withholding encouragement from your spouse, children, friends, or coworkers? Don't let your loved ones live with a blessing deficit. Step into your God-given authority, speak life over your family, and intentionally direct the course of their future with your words. If you are struggling with insecurity or an unhealed "orphan spirit," bring it to God and allow your church family to speak truth and blessing over you today.Join us Sundays at 8:30am or 10:30am. Proverbs 12:18, 12:22, 16:24, 18:21, Luke 6:45.
Does the language we speak limit the way we feel? In this episode, inspired by a conversation with Lynn Campbell of the Scottish Mushroom Podcast, we dive into the "human lexicon" and explore why having specific words for our experiences is vital for society. We examine the richness of the Scots language, from the cozy warmth of "coorie" to the depressing gloom of a "driech" day, and compare them to concepts in Danish and Ancient Greek. Discover why naming an experience, whether it is bullying or romantic love, is the first step toward understanding, legislating, and making time for it in our busy lives. Finally, we discuss the potential "diminishing" of the English language and the risk that AI-generated communication could strip away the humanity, character, and emotion that make our shared experiences meaningful.
Thursday June 18, 2026III Week After PentecostIn today's episode, Proverbs 18 highlights the power of our words, the value of humility, and the strength found in God and healthy relationships. Solomon reminds us that wisdom begins with listening rather than speaking. A fool delights in expressing opinions instead of seeking understanding, while the wise take time to hear before they respond. One of the chapter's strongest themes is the power of the tongue. Our words can build up or tear down, bring healing or inflict wounds. As Solomon famously writes, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” What we say has lasting influence on our relationships, our witness, and even the direction of our own lives.Ultimately, Proverbs 18 teaches that wise living is marked by listening well, speaking carefully, trusting God completely, and investing in relationships that reflect His love and faithfulness.

In this shiur, delivered in "Steve's", Rav Burg explores the moment Klal Yisrael lost Miriam and, along with her, their sense of continuity.Rav Burg delves into why their reaction to a lack of water was truly a displaced expression of grief over Miriam's absence and how finding language for our loss can transform our struggles. When Hashem told Moshe to speak to the rock, it was a lesson for us all: we can give language to the hardest parts of life, approach them tenderly, and discover that those very places become life-giving wells.

The Power of Words (Selected Scriptures) - Dr. Bill Cook
How words take on or lose meaning as language evolves, and what this tells us about cultures and society.
In this episode I talk about how much your life changes when you choose to stop judging and speaking negatively. Cleaning up your vibration is sometimes a lonely and alienating road, but nature loves a vacuum and whatever gets lost in the process always gets filled with something more rewarding - and you love and trust yourself more, which is the greatest reward of all. We've all been there. You hear your kid use a four-letter word for the first time. Or belittle someone else. Do your kids understand the power of their words? In this episode of the All Pro Dad podcast, host Ted Lowe is joined by BJ Foster and Bobby Lewis to talk about how often our kids use words without thinking about the consequences and what dads can do to shape kids' language. Why This MattersThe words we use shape relationships, build trust, and influence how kids see themselves and others.Key TakeawaysKids learn the power of language primarily by listening to the adults around them.Compliments and encouragement often have a longer-lasting impact than we realize.A child's language often reveals deeper heart issues, influences, or emotional struggles.Parents should pay attention to the influences shaping their kids' communication, including friends, music, movies, and online content.Practical Tips for Dads1. Model the language you want your kids to use.Praise your spouse, encourage others openly, and speak respectfully even when frustrated.2. Practice “reverse gossip.”Speak highly of people behind their backs and let your kids hear it regularly.3. Build gratitude into family rhythms.Use moments like dinner conversations to encourage thankfulness and affirmation.4. Address hurtful language quickly.Teach kids the difference between joking around and attacking someone's dignity.5. Talk about the “why” behind words.Ask questions that uncover the heart posture behind the language your kids use.6. Monitor influences carefully.Pay attention to the friends, media, music, and online content shaping your child's communication habits.7. In today's episode, we continue the conversation and dive even deeper into the relationship between embodiment and creativity, the connection between breath and language, and the way words can become a space of healing, presence, and transformation.Over these two episodes, we explore the power of words, the intimacy of storytelling, the courage of being seen, and the connection between creativity, presence, and the body. What I love most about this conversation is how deeply it reminds us that softness is not weakness — it is awareness, honesty, and connection.A huge thank you to Allie for sharing her heart, her reflections, and her creative world with so much openness and grace. If this conversation moved something in you, feel free to share the podcast, leave a review, or send this episode to someone who may need these words right now. In this installment of the Mussar Masterclass on the Gate of Slander, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe focuses on the practical path to overcoming harmful speech. The Orchot Tzaddikim teaches that someone seeking to repent from gossip, flattery, falsehood, idle chatter, and slander must build a strong protective fence around themselves. The first step is distancing oneself from environments and friendships that normalize negative speech. Just as bad habits are contagious, positive habits are cultivated by surrounding oneself with people who speak words of Torah, wisdom, and fear of Heaven. Lasting change begins with changing one's environment. The episode emphasizes the extraordinary power of silence and intentional speech. Rabbi Wolbe explains that a person who wishes to elevate themselves must reduce unnecessary conversation, increase Torah study, and become mindful of every word they utter. Speech is not merely communication—it is one of the most powerful forces available to a human being. Our words can heal, inspire, encourage, and elevate, or they can destroy relationships, reputations, and even entire communities. The class concludes with a memorable parable about a man who obtained milk from a lioness to heal a king. In a dream, the various organs of the body argued about which was most important, until the tongue demonstrated that it possessed the power to bring either life or death. The lesson echoes King Solomon's famous teaching: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." Rabbi Wolbe leaves listeners with a powerful reminder that mastering one's speech is among the greatest forms of self-mastery and spiritual growth. _____________This Podcast Series is Generously Underwritten by Peter & Becky BotvinRecorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on February 2, 2026, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on June 3, 2026_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! In this Mussar Masterclass on the Gate of Slander, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe explores one of Judaism's most transformative principles: judging others favorably. Drawing from Orchot Tzaddikim, he explains that our obligation to judge favorably depends on the character of the individual involved. A righteous person should be given the benefit of the doubt even when circumstances appear questionable. An average person should be judged charitably whenever possible. Most importantly, the way we judge others becomes the standard by which Heaven judges us. When we extend grace to others, Hashem extends grace to us. The episode then shifts to the dangers of revenge, grudges, and public embarrassment. Rabbi Wolbe emphasizes a crucial distinction: we may condemn a person's actions, but we should never define the person by their mistakes. This principle is especially relevant in parenting, where criticizing a child's behavior rather than labeling the child preserves dignity and encourages growth. Our words have the power either to elevate people toward greatness or to push them toward failure. A central theme throughout the class is the power of positive expectations. Through stories ranging from Talmudic teachings to NFL MVP Josh Allen's upbringing, Rabbi Wolbe demonstrates how people often rise to the expectations placed upon them. Parents, teachers, spouses, and friends can profoundly influence others by speaking to their potential rather than their shortcomings. The episode concludes with the famous lesson that the true "elixir of life" is guarding one's tongue. Long life, healthy relationships, and spiritual greatness begin with careful, disciplined speech. _____________This Podcast Series is Generously Underwritten by Peter & Becky BotvinRecorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on February 2, 2026, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on June 2, 2026_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! Sometimes we use words and phrases that we don't know what they mean or we don't think about what they mean. For example, do you tell your friends “good luck” before a test? Things such as luck, charms, and “knocking on wood” are not Biblical. We have to think about the words we say because our words have a big impact.Let's connect!Follow me on TikTok @givingyourbestlifeJoin me on YouTubeShop my books hereWith gratitude, Stephanie❤️
When we're willing to fully identify ourselves with God, it opens doors for God to move dramatically in and through our lives. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the spiritual authority our words hold and the power of believing in the truth of Jesus' divinity. He shares the story found in Matthew 8 of the Roman centurion who asked Jesus to heal his servant, and he encourages us to lead with faith boldly for Jesus, too. God is moving in the earth, and He still does miracles. This Easter, let's pray and obey, trusting that God is still at work for His Church and Kingdom today.

Whatever is in our hearts will eventually come out of our mouths. We must fill our hearts with God's truth from Scripture so that when He presents us with an opportunity to speak to someone else about Him the things that we say will have His power behind it and it will make a change in their lives.
The Bible is replete with verses about the words that we say, instructing us to use wisdom in everything that comes out of our mouths. Whether it's true or not, our job is to edify and speak in love, building each other up rather than tearing each other down.
