[Luke 15:17-24] 17. "When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18. I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.' 20. So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. 21. "The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' 22. "But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. 24. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.
[Romans 12:9-13] 9. Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
[Jeremiah 7:1-11] 1. This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD : 2. "Stand at the gate of the LORD's house and there proclaim this message: " 'Hear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the LORD. 3. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place. 4. Do not trust in deceptive words and say, "This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD!" 5. If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, 6. if you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, 7. then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your forefathers for ever and ever. 8. But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless. 9. " 'Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known, 10. and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say, "We are safe"-safe to do all these detestable things? 11. Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the LORD.
[Hosea 11: 1-4] 1. "When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son. 2. But the more I called Israel, the further they went from me. They sacrificed to the Baals and they burned incense to images. 3. It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms; but they did not realize it was I who healed them. 4. I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love; I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them.share in his glory.
[Romans 8:12-17] 12. Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation--but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14. because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." 16. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17. Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
[Luke 23:34, John 14:1-3, John 17:20-23, John 19: 25-27] 34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. (Luke 23:34) “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:1-3) 20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. (John 17: 20-23) 25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” 27 and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home. (John 19:25-27)
[1 John 1:5-7; 1 John 2:9-11] 1:5. This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 1:6. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 1:7. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 2:9. Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. 2:10. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble. 2:11. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.
[Matthew 5:13-16] 13. "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. 14. "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
[Joshua 1:1-10] 1. After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' aide: 2. "Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them--to the Israelites. 3. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates--all the Hittite country--to the Great Sea on the west. 5. No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6. "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. 7. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." 10. So Joshua ordered the officers of the people:
[Ruth 4:13-17; Romans 5:6-8] Ruth 4:13. So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. Then he went to her, and the LORD enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. Ruth 4:14. The women said to Naomi: "Praise be to the LORD, who this day has not left you without a kinsman-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! Ruth 4:15. He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth." Ruth 4:16. Then Naomi took the child, laid him in her lap and cared for him. Ruth 4:17. The women living there said, "Naomi has a son." And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David. Romans 5:6. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:7. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. Romans 5:8. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
[Galatians 6:9,10] 9. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
[Psalm 119:105-106; Proverbs 6:23] 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. 119:106 I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. 6:23 For these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life,
[Ruth 1:11-13; 4:14-15] 1:11 But Naomi said, "Return home, my daughters. Why would you come with me? Am I going to have any more sons, who could become your husbands? 1:12 Return home, my daughters; I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was still hope for me--even if I had a husband tonight and then gave birth to sons- 1:13 would you wait until they grew up? Would you remain unmarried for them? No, my daughters. It is more bitter for me than for you, because the LORD's hand has gone out against me!" 4:14 The women said to Naomi: "Praise be to the LORD, who this day has not left you without a kinsman-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! 4:15 He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth."
[Psalm 40:1-2] 1. I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
