How to spot counterfeits.
☞ ABOUT THIS MESSAGE Jim addresses the dangers of counterfeit faith and rebellion against God's authority, using Korah's rebellion in Numbers 16 as a key example. He highlights how subtle compromises lead us into rebellion and contrasts this with the life-giving path of faithful submission to God. Jim challenges us to consider if we're relying on our own support systems or truly trusting in God's sovereignty. He emphasizes that "rebellion is always a personal problem," urging us to stop blaming others. His guidance helps distinguish between righteous advocacy and self-serving rebellion, offering a clear path for navigating authority. This message counters our culture's celebration of rebellion by revealing that true strength is found in humble submission to God. ☞ BIBLE APP NOTES https://www.bible.com/events/49509871 ☞ GROUP LEADER GUIDE https://page.church.tech/05cb6d35 ☞ NEXT STEPS

Image via Mike Worley Photos / Shutterstock. On this episode of Trending with Timmerie, HGTV designer Paige Rienzo opens up about her powerful journey of healing from addiction, finding faith, and breaking free from New Age spirituality. After years of battling destructive habits with food, alcohol, spending, and work, Paige found herself in multiple 12-step programs searching for peace and purpose. But as she tells Timmerie, the road to recovery came with its own dangers. Many in the recovery community, she explains, are offered “a counterfeit spirituality” – a blend of New Age practices like yoga, crystals, and Eastern meditation that mimic faith but lack Christ. Paige shares how this subtle drift pulled her away from truth before she encountered the real healing power of Jesus and the Catholic Church. She reflects on the emptiness of “spiritual but not religious” culture and how authentic healing only happens through surrender, prayer, and the sacraments. Her story is one of courage, conversion, and rediscovering her worth in God – a reminder that no amount of self-help or self-improvement can replace divine grace.

My guest today, Elise Orozco, is joining me to talk about something that's quietly affecting a lot of women—erotica and so-called “romance” fiction. Elise shares her honest story of how it pulled her in, what it did to her marriage and walk with the Lord, and how God set her free. We're talking about why this matters, what it does to our hearts, and how to find true intimacy the way God designed it. It's a powerful and hope-filled conversation you don't want to miss.Prime Sponsor: No matter where you live, visit the Functional Medical Institute online today to connect with Drs Mark and Michele Sherwood. ☞ ABOUT THIS MESSAGE Jim explores the story of Balaam, a prophet who tried to serve both God and money, leading to his downfall. He highlights how self-deception about wealth can lead us away from true faith through small compromises. Using scripture, Jim outlines six signs of drifting toward materialism, such as making decisions based solely on finances and delaying generosity. He offers hope with a two-part strategy: fleeing from greed and embracing "irrational generosity" to reflect God's nature. The message emphasizes that true abundance comes through generosity, urging us to fully devote ourselves to God, who provides all we need. ☞ BIBLE APP NOTES https://www.bible.com/events/49506705 ☞ GROUP LEADER GUIDE https://page.church.tech/3e02a62a ☞ NEXT STEPS

Ozempic remains at the center of American conversations around weight loss, especially as the demand for prescription medications aimed at shedding pounds continues to surge nationwide. This past week, two topics have dominated news coverage. First, the ongoing popularity and the urgent warnings about counterfeit versions of weight loss drugs like Ozempic. Second, the role that Oprah Winfrey's public statements are playing in influencing perceptions about what these medications can—and cannot—actually do.According to ABC News, federal officials are sounding the alarm as more patients turn to online sellers for Ozempic and similar drugs, leading to what Homeland Security calls an “absolutely” unprecedented surge in dangerous counterfeits. Many of these illegal sellers use phrases like “No Rx” to bypass regulations, promising weight loss drugs without prescriptions or safety guarantees. The Food and Drug Administration clarifies that Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro are tightly regulated, manufactured under strict scrutiny, and are only legal with a prescription. In contrast, unofficial versions dubbed “Fauxzempic” can be counterfeit and potentially life-threatening. Recent coverage stresses that anyone seeking true Ozempic should rely solely on licensed medical professionals and FDA-approved pharmacies to avoid potentially severe health risks. This swell in demand for ozempic and its lookalikes comes as people report dramatic results. Yet, the landscape is muddied not just by fake medicines but also by fraudulent endorsements using celebrity imagery and artificial intelligence. WCPO reports this week on how scammers are exploiting advanced technology to create deepfake videos of Oprah Winfrey allegedly promoting various supplements that claim to mimic Ozempic's effects. These deceptive ads have tricked some consumers into spending hundreds of dollars on unknown substances shipped with no instructions and no scientific backing. Both the Better Business Bureau and independent investigative reports confirm Oprah Winfrey has repeatedly stated she does not endorse any over-the-counter supplement or nonprescription product for weight loss. Deepfake technology now allows scammers to fabricate realistic celebrity recommendations, making it increasingly difficult for ordinary people to separate truth from fiction.Oprah's real stance on Ozempic and weight loss has been thoughtfully discussed in recent interviews and podcasts. On a Yale University obesity medicine episode of The Oprah Podcast, Oprah explained she had long believed thinness was purely a matter of willpower. That changed when she used a prescription GLP-1 medication herself. Oprah described how she finally understood that for many, including herself, the battle with weight is between biology and behavior. She spoke of “food noise”—the constant thoughts and cravings that affect those struggling with obesity—and admitted that, even with medication, this noise never truly disappears. She emphasized medications like Ozempic are not magic bullets, pointing out that any sustainable weight loss for her requires exercise, vigilance, and ongoing lifestyle changes. In her own words published by People and reiterated in current reports, Oprah acknowledged relief and “redemption” in having medical tools to manage her health after decades of blame and shame but firmly denies these medications should be seen as effortless solutions.Simultaneously, current research is highlighting new and unusual side effects associated with using Ozempic and similar drugs, especially in medical imaging. The Independent this week shared findings that patients who use these medications and then undergo PET scans might experience “hot spots” during imaging, potentially complicating diagnostic procedures for certain conditions. This development underscores the importance of informing healthcare providers about any recent prescriptions for GLP-1 drugs, so they can interpret medical images accurately and avoid misdiagnosis. As the popularity of Ozempic and similar drugs reaches new heights, federal warnings about dangerous counterfeits, widespread misinformation fueled by deepfakes and fake endorsements, and evolving understanding of side effects form the core of this week's ongoing story. All experts stress the importance of relying on your physician and FDA-approved pharmacies for health decisions, and not succumbing to slick videos or promises from online sellers. Oprah Winfrey's honest reflections have helped reframe the public conversation, reminding listeners that healthy weight loss is both a medical science and a personal journey, not a simple secret or shortcut. Thanks for listening, please subscribe, and remember—this episode was brought to you by Quiet Please podcast networks. This Monday morning, we tackle the toughest ethical battle of the week: bro code vs. girl’s girl code, as a conflicted friend seeks advice on whether she should ruin her party circle by revealing that her acquaintance’s boyfriend, Francois, is "just out there giving it up". We also lament the city's decision to increase LA parking meter rates by 50% and debate if the sneakers that fell apart on Kai Cenat were indeed genuine Yeezys—or perhaps just "Peezys".[Edited by @iamdyre]See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Have you ever bought a fake that looked real—until it wasn't? James 2:14–26 warns us that faith can be the same way. In this episode, we break down three kinds of faith: dead faith that talks but never acts, demonic faith that believes but never loves, and dynamic faith or the real deal that trusts God so deeply it shows up in everyday obedience. Discover how true faith is more than words or knowledge; it's a life that bears fruit, fueled by love for Jesus and empowered by His grace.

Devotion is not discipline, loyalty, passion, or even commitment. It's an orientation of being that is irrevocable and unconditional—chosen from love, not forced by fear. In this solo episode, Andrew dismantles the common counterfeits of devotion, explains why self-devotion must come first, and shows how two people who choose true devotion create a container where love deepens, desire grows, and evolution is permissioned—not policed. What you'll learn • Devotion defined: Not what you do, but who you are while you do it. Identity, not strategy. • Irrevocability matters: Real devotion has no escape hatch. It doesn't depend on moods, convenience, or someone else's performance. • Devotion vs. discipline: One is love-fueled, fluid, and energy-giving; the other is fear-driven, rigid, and resentful. • Self-devotion first: Without it, you'll self-abandon, people-please, or demand others fill your void. • Devotion in relationship: Mutual, freely chosen surrender that creates safety to evolve, explore, and keep passion alive long term. • Counterfeits to watch for: Duty, loyalty, white-knuckled commitment, and performative spirituality masquerading as depth. • The reward: A container strong enough to carry greatness—in love, sex, health, craft, leadership, and spirituality. Key ideas & segments • Why the word “devotion” is abused online: Advice without embodiment cheapens the concept. • Essence over effort: A monk doesn't “do” devotion a few hours a day—he becomes it. • Freedom through permanence: Choosing an irrevocable path removes the exhausting “should I stay or go?” middle ground. • Permission to evolve: True devotion loves who your partner is, not what they do, which creates space for growth and exploration. • How fear sneaks in: When commitment is a survival strategy, you'll get stability without aliveness—and a ton of resentment. • Practical contrast (health example): Fear-based control drains; love-based devotion sustains. • Dominance & submission nuance: Disciplined pleasing creates collapse and resentment; devoted surrender lights both people up. Memorable lines • “Devotion isn't about gripping to commitment. It's who you are while you live, work, parent, and make love.” • “If you're devoted ‘for a year,' you're still in new-relationship energy. That's not devotion.” • “Discipline says, ‘I have to.' Devotion says, ‘I choose to. I'm grateful to.'” • “There are experiences you don't even get to start having until you've decided there's no backdoor.” • “My devotion is to her, not to what she does. That's why she has permission to evolve.” • “Counterfeit devotion is revocable and fear-based. Real devotion is irrevocable and love-fueled.” Who this is for • Men and women who are tired of performative love and want the real thing. • Couples who crave growing closeness and hotter sex years in, not just at the start. • Anyone ready to trade white-knuckled control for love-fueled liberation.
