Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's Podcast! Mark chapter 1, the cleansing of a leper. What makes this story extraordinary isn't just the physical healing, but the deep spiritual symbolism woven throughout. We discover that leprosy serves as a picture of our human condition apart from Christ - starting small but spreading relentlessly, numbing our spiritual sensitivity, isolating us from community and God, and leaving us utterly helpless without divine intervention. Just as Jesus cleansed this leper, His blood cleanses us from all sin.
07/06/2026 Gospel Sermon on Luke 9 : 12 - 17 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, "Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted place here." 13 But He said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said, "We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we go and buy food for all these people." 14 For there were about five thousand men. Then He said to His disciples, "Make them sit down in groups of fifty." 15 And they did so, and made them all sit down. 16 Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. 17 So they all ate and were filled, and twelve baskets of the leftover fragments were taken up by them.

What if the greatest danger isn't being broken…but stopping at partial healing? In Luke 17, ten lepers cried out to Jesus for mercy. All ten were cleansed as they walked away… but only ONE came back. And Jesus tells that one man:“Your faith has made you well.”That statement changes everything.Because there is a difference between:being cleansed and being made whole, relief and transformation, surviving and truly becoming. In this powerful Wrestle Well message, Pastor Joe Moss II breaks down:why many people stop too early, the danger of becoming comfortable with partial healing, how pain can decrease while fragmentation still remains, and why Jesus wants more than behavior modification — He wants wholeness. This message will challenge you spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically to:keep walking, keep healing, keep surrendering, and keep becoming. You may have survived…but God is calling you to become WELL.Luke 17:11–19 breakdownCleansed vs Made Well explainedWhy many people settle after reliefThe danger of sitting down too earlyWhole-person healing: spirit, soul, and bodyWrestle Well principles for transformationHow faith continues walking beyond comfort“Some people stop at relief. A Genuine faith is an essential and active ingredient in the lives of those who believe in Jesus – it motivates their actions! This is made clear in our chapters in the Acts of the Apostles today. The rapidly developing communities of believers had reached a crisis point when “some believers” in Jerusalem “who belonged to the party of the Pharisees rose up and said, ‘It is necessary to circumcise them and to order them to keep the law of Moses'.” [ch.15 v.5] These Jewish converts to faith in Christ wanted the Gentile converts to fully follow Jewish ways: because of this “the apostles and the elders were gathered together to consider this matter.” [v.6] This was held in Jerusalem and there was “much debate.” [v.7] Among the points that Peter made was “God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us, and he made no distinction between us and them, havingcleansed their hearts by faith.” [v.8,9] Peter says that what these former Pharisees were advocating would be a “yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will.” [v.10,11] The lesson is – we cannot ‘earn' salvation through keeping rituals; we are “saved through grace” and it will only be through grace that we will gain a place in God's kingdom. The essential ingredient for those who believe is to develop cleansed hearts, the outcome of having a genuine faith. At the end of the gathering a letter is composed (v.23) and sent to the Gentile believers. It makes the point that “it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements…” [v.28] The requirement which it is most appropriate for us to carefully note in this 21st Century is to “abstain … from sexual immortality.” [v.29] This will come naturally to those who have “cleansed their hearts by faith.” This was also illustrated for us in some detail in our chapter 22 in Deuteronomy today. (v.13-30) as part of Moses' earnest exhortation before the Israelites enter the promised land. May our faith become stronger – and our vision clearer – and then -how wonderfully ‘clean' our hearts will become.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 12th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Acts 10:15: ”And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.” What God has made clean, you cannot call unclean. I looked up The Message translation, and it says, ”… If God says it's okay, then it's okay.” You know folks, we've got the situation here where Peter had that dream, vision or trance on top of the roof of Simon the Tanner's house, and he saw a sheet coming down from heaven and all kinds of creatures and birds of the air were there, and the Lord said to him: “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” Now Peter said, “No Lord! I have never eaten anything common or unclean in my life.” Then the Lord spoke to him again a second time and said to him, ”What God has cleansed, you may not call un-cleansed.”People are more important than traditions, and the Holy Spirit revealed to Peter in a dream that whatever God has cleansed is clean, and we need to know that. I've got a dear friend who goes with me when I travel overseas and up into central Africa. I have told him and we've had a good talk about it, (he's a very special friend to me. He's very particular about what he eats. He keeps himself very fit and very trim), I said to him, ”When you go with me and we go into a house, you will eat whatever is put in front of you, otherwise you're not coming.”Folks, I can preach the Gospel, and I can see people respond to the Gospel and they are deeply touched, sometimes to tears, and then we'll go back to their homes. Some people live in very simple homes, and the food that they give us is very simple and sometimes is not maybe not what you and I would regard as good food, but that woman has slaved over a stove to make a meal for us, and it has cost her plenty. Now, if we turn our noses up, as it were, and don't partake heartily of what she has prepared, it is a great insult to her, but if you eat that food, that will make an impact on her like maybe the Gospel doesn't even make an impact sometimes, because we are doing what God has called us to do. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.
In this final episode of Called, Cleansed, and Built, we center everything on Christ—the Living Stone. 1 Peter 2:4–10 reveals that our identity and purpose are inseparable from Him. Though rejected by the world, Jesus is chosen and precious to God—and those who come to Him are being built into something eternal. This passage reminds us that we are not random or insignificant. We are chosen, set apart, and positioned with purpose. As living stones, we are being built together into a spiritual house, called to declare His praises. This episode brings the series full circle: we were called, we were cleansed, and now we are being built for His glory.

David knew that real joy comes only from righteousness in the Lord. This week on The Bible Study Hour with Dr. James Boice, we'll study the second half of Psalm 51, where David is deeply aware of his sinfulness and unworthiness. Rather than hiding from his sin, David asks God to cleanse him and renew his spirit. He knows that the only answer to sin is true repentance. Have you ever messed up or done something you thought was unforgiveable? This week on The Bible Study Hour with Dr. James Boice, we'll study the first half of Psalm 51, where David has done some pretty terrible things. He's sinned against God and man, and he knows that he doesn't deserve forgiveness. What can David's story teach us about the mercy, love and compassion of God? In today's episode of the Tiny Theologians Easter series, we visit the temple in Jerusalem and discover the meaning behind the dove. Join TJ and Tory as they learn what it really means that Jesus “cleansed” the temple—not by scrubbing it clean, but by clearing out what didn't belong. As they explore this moment, they begin to see how much Jesus cares about true worship and honoring God's presence. Today's symbol is the dove, which reminds us of God's Spirit and His presence with His people. Through this story, we learn that Jesus was preparing the way for something greater—that through His death and resurrection, God would no longer dwell only in a building, but in His people by His Spirit. This week on Side Notes, Adam sits down with Pastor Tim to unpack the deeper meaning behind atonement and forgiveness. They explore how the Old Testament sacrificial system points to Jesus as the Lamb of God—and what it truly means for our sin to be removed, not just covered. Plus, they dive into fascinating questions about Sheol, the Day of Atonement, and why reading the Bible can raise challenging (but important) questions.
