Have you ever seen “the handwriting on the wall”? What did you do? Belshazzar knew about Nebuchadnezzar's experience, but he chose to ignore it. Daniel 5:1-31 The post #5 Writing On The Wall appeared first on Trinity Church Unley.
The fall of Babylon in 539 B.C. reveals timeless truths about pride and divine judgment. King Belshazzar's arrogant feast, using sacred temple vessels to mock God, led to supernatural writing on the wall declaring his kingdom's end. Despite knowing his grandfather Nebuchadnezzar's humbling by God, Belshazzar hardened his heart in pride. Daniel interpreted the mysterious words as God's final judgment - the king had been weighed and found wanting. That very night, Belshazzar died and his kingdom fell, demonstrating that every heart will ultimately be measured by God's eternal standard.https://www.ankenyfree.church

The Padres are making the playoffs but is the writing on the wall once they get there? A Padres' secret weapon in the postseason?
Hey kiddos!
This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.DAN.5:27 TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.DAN.5:28 PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
This week in worship, a hand writes a mysterious message on the wall that terrifies the king, and Daniel is there to interpret the dire warning. Don't you wish God was that obvious with his messages to us? Or does God send us messages that we fail to pay attention to? How can we tune in to God while liivng in a world filled with distractions?
In Daniel 5, the fall of Belshazzar shows that human kingdoms built on pride and blasphemy cannot stand, but God's holiness and justice endure. Just as Belshazzar was weighed and found wanting, so too are our own attempts to build lasting kingdoms, yet God has not forgotten His people. In Christ—the true King who was weighed in our place and not found wanting—God establishes an eternal kingdom that cannot be shaken, offering hope and life to all who belong to Him.

A recent opinion poll in Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim-majority state and democracy, throws a damper on Israeli and US hopes that Middle Eastern and Muslim states may recognise the Jewish state without a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Even more concerning, the poll suggests that public opinion is turning against a compromise two-state solution that would see the creation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel as advocated by an overwhelming majority of the international community, including Arab and Muslim states. The poll indicates that Israeli plans for a ground occupation of Gaza, Israel's US-backed devastation of Gaza to create an environment conducive to depopulation of the Strip, and its repressive West Bank settlement policy are driving the hardening of public attitudes.

On this episode we debated the City Council's plans to get tough on graffiti by introducing civil penalties up to $1,500 per violation. The change would make it easier to fine taggers. Erica questioned the council's priorities and aesthetics, and pointed out that graffiti is already a crime or felony (if it costs more than $750 to repair). Sandeep mostly spoke in favor of the new measure, citing studies that find tolerance for graffiti can lead to more crime. But he also questioned the value of going after taggers as opposed to more serious criminals. The discussion also touched on prevailing academic and cultural claims that graffiti tagging operates mostly as a form of multi-ethnic working-class expression or protest. David pointed to the data reported in Publicola that suggests that may not be the case, at least in Seattle, since 85 percent of the people "referred to Ann Davison's office for graffiti violation were white." Erica said the sample size is too small to conclude most taggers are white. Sandeep argued bringing race into the conversation was a needlessly "identitarian" move by the City Council. Another point of contention was a poll that's testing negative messaging against mayoral candidate Katie Wilson. All agreed the test messages claiming Wilson is "divisive" and "angry" missed the mark and were unlikely to be effective. We also discussed earlier progressive campaign tactics that misfired by attempting to link moderate candidates, such as Mayor Bruce Harrell, to Donald Trump. David asked if we'll see more of that messaging from campaigns and advocates in 2025 and, given Trump's unpopularity in Seattle, if it will work? Plus, we delve into John Arthur Wilson's campaign suspension in the race for King County Executive, following harassment allegations. What took him so long? Send us a text! Daniel Chapter 5 recounts the fall of King Belshazzar and Babylon, highlighted by a mysterious hand writing "Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin" on the wall during a feast. Daniel interprets this as a divine judgment, signaling the end of Belshazzar's reign, which occurs that very night when the Medes and Persians take over. The chapter is rich with themes of pride, judgment, and God's sovereignty, making it a popular subject for sermons, studies, and discussions.Watch all of our videos and subscribe to our channel for the latest content >HereHere
