“So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?” As we start a new year we need to remember that Jesus demands that His followers not only know the word/scripture but that we also become doers of the word. The truth is, this is not always possible and we need to ask ourselves how can we practically take steps that will help us on the journey? Join us in our four week series Titled The Highway where we will explore practicals ways that will help us build strong foundations and navigate the challenges we come across on The Highway.

On few occasions, Jesus talked to his disciples about the Kingdom of Go, demonstrated the values of the Kingdom of God but until they were giving knowledge and understanding, they never understood what He was talking about and instead were consumed by the restoration of their earthly kingdom of Israel. Like the disciples, we can concern ourselves with and be consumed by our small kingdoms here on earth and never fully live for the kingdom of God.
From the beginning of time God gave Adam and Eve a mandate to carry His light into His creation but they failed to do so. The book of Acts tells us a factual historical account of events about a group of ordinary people with flaws and limitations who were EMPOWERED and TRANSFORMED by the Holy Spirit and radically lived out their CONVICTION that impacted the world with the Good News.
For the past five weeks during woman's month, as a church we intentionally created space to amplify the voices and experiences of women to raise awareness and stand against gender based violence in our society. GBV is a men problem, not a woman problem. The church is the light of the world, a salt of the earth - a city on a hill and as Following Jesus community, we continue to commit ourselves to seek practical ways, through partnership with other organisations, to be part of the healing story as our community, society and country at large.

Genesis 16 tells a story of a slave woman called Hagar, an Israelite, an Egyptian (An African Women) who becomes a single mother. She becomes desolate and unemployed, She is not in control of her life story and she is not seen by her masters. But God has a different interaction with Hagar, He looks for Hagar and finds her, He acknowledges her and calls her by name. God does not impose His views on her but asks her questions. He gives her a space to voice her issues. He restores her humanity and dignity and then God directs her and makes a personal promise to her as He did to Abraham.
As a community of Following Jesus, diversity and healing are two of our ongoing priorities as a church, and this month, we are dedicating our efforts to exploring what this means in the context of Women's Month. In this discussion we address the second pandemic in our country called Gender Based Violence. We hope that you will this conversation meaningful and that you will not just listen but act on what moves in you today. May God Grant us all the grace and strength we need as we continue this fight against GBV.

Racism, Injustice, police brutally are some of the words on everybody’s slips and to be honest it is always that we know where to begin to try and process some of these terms and some of the events that are happening around the world. As a church, we created a space where we could have a brave conversation for all of us to listen, to learn, to reflect, to lament and to pray together.

In his lament during tough season, prophet Habakkuk said, though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights (Habakkuk 3:17-19. For us who believe, HOPE has a name, that name is Jesus. It is impossible to Endure the RACE SET BEFORE US (Hebrews 12:1-4) if our eyes are not fixed on Hope Himself, JESUS. We have a HOPE SET BEFORE US (Hebrews 6:18), a living hope (1 Peter 1:3) that we affirm and hold tightly to without wavering (Hebrews 10:23-25).
