Welcome to my final episode of F101! I've made the decision to take a pause from this podcast - for how long, I'm not sure. It was a very special and impactful weekend to witness Sebastian Vettel's retirement and the end to the 2022 season. In light of such events, I've taken this episode to wrap up my thoughts regarding some of the more frustrating events and trends I've been seeing in the sport. Let’s time travel. We’re going decade by decade, breaking down the F1 figures and racers who have written their names in the history books. This week we start in the 1950’s with pioneers Fangio and Ascari, and run all the way up to the 1980’s with the legends of Aryton Senna and Alain Prost. Stay tuned for the next episode where I bring it up from the 1990’s to the present day, touching on the people who have made this sport so exciting and thrilling.

Leave it to Netflix to try and spice up an exciting sport that’s suffering from a few boring seasons. I’m joined by my good friend who’s a F1 newbie, and whose first significant introduction to the sport was through Netflix’s documentary Drive to Survive. Not to mention my constant nagging and complaining about something she didn’t care about until I made her care about it. Just kidding. We break down the good and bad of the show, and our different perspectives on its drama, truthfulness, and reality.

Let’s burn some rubber today. We always hear about race strategy and tire strategy all jumbled in with the commentators’ ramblings as the cars hurtle around a track. Tires play an important role in every single race, and can make or break a driver’s weekend. But why? What’s the difference between all of the compounds? What causes a blowout or shredding of a tire like we’ve seen in recent races? We’re rolling through the basics of tire usage in F1, including the characteristics of each compound, and how they impact races. It’s not all double-stacked pit stops and last minute strategy changes. So hop in and buckle up as we dive into this new topic.

Must there be overtaking and exciting racing for a track to be considered “good”? Interesting question. I’m breaking down three tracks that are regarded as some of the best in the sport, checking out the famous turns and race characteristics that make them so popular. Plus, a few honorable mentions of my personal favorites that I look forward to each year.

I mean, this is called F101 for a reason, and I am a college student so....this was coming. But don’t worry, I won’t bore you. You won’t have to introduce yourself to the class or share a fun fact because this is an entry level course. In this episode I'm explaining a few of the exciting rule changes and new regulations that will being coming to F1 in 2022, before diving into the wonderful worlds of Formula 2 and Formula E.
