Selma Jubilee March 5th-8th,2026Faya Ora Rose Touré (s a civil rights activist, civil rights attorney, and education activist based in Selma, Dallas County. Previously known under the name “Rose Sanders,” she changed her name in 2002, considering it her enslaved name; she took the name “Touré” in honor of Guinea's first president, Ahmed Sékou Touré. Touré became Alabama's first Black woman judge in 1973. She has been a polarizing figure in Selma, with some news outlets portraying her as a heroic civil rights leader who has greatly improved the lives of Black people in Alabama, while other media sources consider her a troublemaker and agitator.Born Rose M. Gaines on May 20, 1945, in Salisbury, North Carolina, to Damon A. Gaines, a minister, and Ora Lee Gaines; she was one of six children. She graduated summa cum laude from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1966. In 1969, she graduated from Harvard Law School, where she won the Herbert Smith Fellowship. In 1970, she married Henry “Hank” Sanders, who also graduated from Harvard Law School; In 1991, Touré and Marie Foster created the National Voting Rights Museum and Institute in Selma. Located adjacent to the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the museum opened to the public in 1993. This museum chronicles the civil rights struggle in Alabama and honors the heroes who made great personal sacrifices so that Black citizens could gain the right to vote and strive toward equality. It features exhibits dedicated to Selma's civil rights history, Reconstruction, woman suffrage, Pres. Barack Obama, Jesse Jackson, Jim Clark (the notorious sheriff known for his role in Bloody Sunday), and the mass incarceration of Black Americans.• All opinions of the show guests are not necessarily the views of the host or staff of Building Abundant Success!! Jim Clark Abramelin Wolfe, Second Life, Motion Capture In this episode, I speak to Jim Clark about his work in motion capture for computer games. Jim has worked for a number of years at the forefront of gaming and as this is a world that I know very little about and I found it absolutely fascinating with the creative processes used. Motion capture artist Jim Clark who also goes under the name of Abramelin Wolfe monetizes his creativity by humanizing our virtual lives -- one fluid movement at a time. He puts his dream of an immersive future succinctly: "We want a universe that we can step into!" Jim talks about his involvement in the online gaming of Second Life. "But the virtual world is more about fun than it is about commerce Second Life is about other people's creativity. Some of it is beautiful. Some of it is just strange...but all of it is amazing! It is like looking into their minds." Join Chris Chavez and Jim Clark as they explore the best and worst of what made the 80s the golden age of horror. This week, we're telling an unusually honest manufacturing story: how a legacy candy got shelved by a giant—and then came back without sanding off the edges that made it special. The brand is Switzer's Licorice, born in St. Louis in 1888 when Frederick M. Switzer turned street‑cart candy into a company that would become a national licorice leader built on real licorice extract and a denser, chewier bite. Through the 20th century, Switzer grew big, then disappeared into corporate portfolios—ultimately landing at Hershey in the 1990s, where it conflicted with Twizzlers and St. Louis production was shut down, effectively discontinuing the brand. Fast‑forward to 2005: the founder's grandsons, Michael and Joe Switzer, reintroduce the brand at the All Candy Expo in Chicago, aiming for authenticity over scale—Cherry Red and Old‑Fashioned Black back on shelves, distributed through nostalgia‑friendly channels. Today, we've got Dan Warner, Switzer's managing CEO, on the revival playbook, and Jim Clark, a factory veteran, on the craft: the texture windows, the batch judgment, and the choices you make when you refuse to modernize away the soul of a candy. I'm also excited to welcome a new partner for the show - The Normal Brand - clothing rooted in Midwestern values. Co-founder Jimmy Sansone joined me awhile back (episode #67) and I'm a big supporter. They're giving listeners 15% off one purchase of regularly priced clothing. Just use the code BAKEDIN at checkout. Head to thenormalbrand.com and find your new favorite fit. Let's roll…

Si quieres ayudar a este podcast puedes comprar en Amazon con nuestro enlace de afiliados. https://amzn.to/4pkAGDmGracias por la escucha. professorjrod@gmail.comExplore the pivotal moment in technology education as we trace the origins of the internet browser from Mosaic's innovation at NCSA to Netscape Navigator's rise as the gateway to the web. This episode dives deep into internet history, highlighting the major players like Jim Clark and Marc Andreessen who shaped the early web experience. We also analyze the browser wars triggered by Microsoft's Internet Explorer, illustrating challenges in technology development and competition. Whether you're preparing for your CompTIA exam or passionate about tech exam prep, understanding this history enriches your IT skills development and offers valuable context for technology education.I walk through the tactics that made Navigator beloved—progressive rendering, rapid updates, and the birth of JavaScript—and the strategic choices that slowed it down, like the all-in-one Communicator suite. We unpack the bundling play that tilted distribution, the developer headaches of competing nonstandard features, and the DOJ antitrust case that redefined how we think about platform power. The twists don't end there: AOL buys Netscape, adoption fades, and then a bold move changes the web again—open sourcing the code to create Mozilla. From Gecko to Phoenix to Firefox, we trace how community-driven software brought speed, security, and standards back to center stage. That lineage lives in every tab you open today, from Firefox to Chrome to Safari, and in the modern idea of the browser as a platform for apps, SaaS, and daily life. Along the way, I share classroom plans, student podcast previews, and a practical way educators can keep learners engaged over winter break. If you love origin stories, tech strategy, or just remember the thrill of that big N on a beige PC, this one's for you. Listen, subscribe, and share your first browser memory with us—was it Navigator, IE, or something else? They discuss Ashland's architectural evolution, the intentional landscape design echoing European traditions, and the site's ongoing role as a gathering place for arts, culture, and community. The conversation also delves into Ashland's layered history—including its legacy of slavery—and current efforts to address this past through initiatives like the forthcoming “Breath of My Ancestors” memorial by sculptor Vinnie Bagwell. Jim Clark shares insights on balancing preservation and progress, from contemporary sculpture installations to inclusive programming like the Traces Tour and the annual Candlelight holiday events, all aimed at keeping Ashland relevant and resonant for today's audiences. For more and to connect with us, visit https://www.artsconnectlex.org/art-throb-podcast.html
Sit back to enjoy another Max Verstappen demonstration of how it should be done - this time with a Red Bull that was virtually undriveable on Friday, so bad was its bouncing. Max struggled through to P4 in the Sprint but, after changes made to the car before qualifying, recovered to start the main race P3. That became P2 after the first corner and then P1 when the McLaren-Mercedes made their first stop for tyres. And P1 - despite the quality of the McLaren MCL39s - became the win. Simple. Or was it? We begin this video with a chat with Mark Slade, the race engineer who won races and world titles at McLaren and Mercedes. After that, it's Peter taking your questions and comments about subjects as far afield as word-portraits of Stirling Moss, Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart; the sort of speech Zak Brown will deliver if McLaren fail to win the Drivers' title; and prospects for Abu Dhabi this Sunday. With thanks to Jetcraft, the world's largest buyer and seller of executive jets:https://jetcraft.comTo OEM Exclusive, the passionate suppliers of OEM upgrades for exotic and high-performance vehiclesTo TrackNinja, a lap-timer and data app designed to help users improve their on-track car and driver performance through analysis and an innovative Data Garage. It was Red Bull-Honda's Max Verstappen all the way at Baku - from the pole, throughout the race and with fastest lap to his credit. In terms of a Grand Slam like this, Max is now only two away from...Jim Clark. George Russell finished a valiant P2 for Mercedes, ahead of Williams-Mercedes' Carlos Sainz, who drove beautifully from the front row. With Ferrari finishing only P8/P9, and McLaren-Mercedes P7/DNF, the minor placings were filled by Kimi Antonelli (P4 in the other factory Mercedes), Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls-Honda) and Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull-Honda). Mario Andretti was 10 years old when the first ever Formula 1 World Championship Grand Prix took place at Silverstone, on the 13th of May 1950. The 1978 World Champion has seen everything the pinnacle of motorsport has to offer over the past 75 years, and is one of just 34 drivers to win the ultimate prize, so he's the perfect person to celebrate such a landmark anniversary. Speaking to Tom Clarkson, Mario charts the history of F1 through his eyes. He explains how different the cars felt to drive in different eras of technical innovations, what it was like to compete in a very dangerous period of racing, and how safety improved over time. Mario also talks about what made World Champions Alberto Ascari, Jim Clark, Sir Jackie Stewart, Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher so special. Plus, he looks to the future of F1 – telling Tom about his role in the new Cadillac F1 team that will join the grid in 2026 and what they need to hit the ground running. On the latest episode of Colossally, join Matt Bishop and Richard Williams as they reappraise the life and career of a driver regarded by many as the quickest to ever sit in a Formula 1 car: Jim Clark.A double world champion in the 1960s and STILL to this day the driver with the most 'grand slam' grand prix weekends (pole, victory, fastest lap, every racing lap led), Clark was widely considered among his fellow racers (and by Ayrton Senna, no less) to be a cut above - and on this podcast we'll try to explain why.In doing so, Richard shares some incredible stories of watching Clark race first-hand, including his memories of seeing a young Clark win four races in one meeting, when the Scot was climbing the ladder to F1.There's chat about Clark's most famous days behind the wheel, his relationship with iconic Lotus boss Colin Chapman, and about the harrowing moments that made him question whether he should race on. Matt and Richard also discuss Clark's idiosyncrasies out of the car, and the unique skillset that made Clark so quick - and possibly the quickest ever - when he jumped into the driver's seat.Matt also shares an incredibly poignant story about visiting Clark's memorial at the Hockenheim circuit, where, completely by chance, he bumped into someone with vivid memories of the Scotsman's final moments. Matt and Richard will be bringing members an exclusive Q&A episode at the end of Season 3, where they'll answer questions on each of the topics covered.
