Podcast by Good News with Ben and Sarah
There was a big to do about plastics while we were away. Do you wanna hear some hot takes on it, including what other organizations are doing to reduce their impact? Good! Also: smart birds, CRISPR breakthroughs, a Seattle band giving back, and a thorough mocking of a guy who was the most wrong one could possibly be in the 1930s.
Hey, were you hoping for a 10 minute adventure into discovering how krill affects the marine ecosystem and climate change? Then I have Good News for you! Bees, plants, dogs, dinosaurs, and the weirdest and most unsettling Vintage Report we've done so far.
We did it! 50 episodes! That's so many hours we've spent with you. But good news happens every day, no matter what anyone will say! Massive bones, space travel firsts, unusual researchers, and an hour long joke that was months in the making.
This just in: the people have spoken and they LOVE Spock so now it's time for some heavy duty CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! Silly props, toyetic deals, more pretty pretty dress-up, and we are still not at all over the leaving of Yeoman Rand.
Oh boy do we have a show for you today. We have puppies, we have elephants, we have sunshine, we have honey bees, we have a weird tangent about early 20th century science fiction novels, and Ben shows he somehow knows a whole lot about how fruit trees work!
You wanna hear another podcast consisting of debates about pop culture things? Good news then! We've got discussions on Game of Thrones, lesser known Disney movies, and Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993) alongside some amazing big ticket news items all for you this week!
Hey Captain Kirk, you've just faced off with the deadliest alien race known to mankind, what are you going to do next? He's going to Disneyland! Irish stereotypes, Romulans, Don Juan, long lost girlfriends, and an episode that was full of last minute re-writes and boy can you tell.
We've got lots of fantastic science to report on this episode so strap into your safety goggles and let's roll out! Rhinos, whales, boats, trash, and Ben and Sarah argue over whether wheat flour is brown, white, or yellow!
The end of semester crunch is over and we can get right on back to delivering you some hot, fresh good news! Beloved video games, landmark legislation, long lost voices, and a recounting of a supposed sighting of a great and powerful sea monster! Note: Ben was incorrect, there is no town named Chad, Pennsylvania.
It's a three for one episode! Because two of them are barely one episode's worth of new content! Brevity is the soul of wit, you guys. We give our thoughts tongue on wardrobe records, spray bottle poison, chewing scenery, and Spock's character development saves the show again.
I hope you all think Ben is the best part of this podcast because he pretty much steals the show this time with both knowledge and corny humor. Electric belts, baby turtles, leaf plates, sports, and Ben pitches a plot to a movie that ALREADY EXISTS. FYI the Industrial Revolution was between 1760 and 1820.
Happy Easter! Ben and I are here with some good news broadcasting from a galaxy far, far away! Sand lizards, snow falcons, breakthroughs in health care, and Sarah says a cuss.
SciFi tropes abound in these two episodes of Star Trek! Mind control, Windows screensavers, a weird jump in chronology, and Kirk expresses his displeasure for leg day.
I hope you like a little history lesson thrown in with your news stories because this episode Ben got schooled! Tardigrades, parrots, Dolly Parton, farm wisdom, and a lengthy debate on the nomenclature of certain food based gatherings.
Another journey through the ethics of science and loose plot threads! Featuring amazing android monologues, terrible costume designs, ancient medical equipment, and a very sad farewell to a main character who deserved better. Another warning on this episode: we talk at the end about some uncomfortable subject matter but this time involving the actors instead of the characters. Listener discretion is advised.
Are you ready for some exciting medical breakthroughs, cheeky birds, life saving drones, and a journey through 1909-era miracle medicine? It's all here and more in this episode of Good News!
We've got two episodes that really just hammers you over the head with how far we've really, really come with portrayals of women in media. No really. It's that bad. So bad I am throwing a content warning on this episode for discussing some nasty content that happens in the plot. Fun!
New year! New dogs! New wings! New bright future! And maybe a little scientific iffyness thrown in for good measure but it all comes out with some optimism in the end.
I knew we'd get here but had no idea how quickly it'd show up: the topless Sulu episode! We talk dangerous contact lenses, carryover plot holes, super convenient time traveling, and Uhura having the best two word line ever spoken.
It's our second annual new years wrap up and look ahead episode! We go over some stuff you heard about and maybe some stuff you missed that happened, and a few highlights of what we know is coming up in 2018. It's a great big beautiful tomorrow with hippos, doggos, lunar eclipses, and your hosts disagree of the significance of a truck!
We're getting near 2017's end so let's look at what good stuff the end has in store for us! Cat road trips, wildlife photography, a lesson on housing electricial work, and near the end we mention one thing that happens in Star Wars: The Last Jedi that has nothing to do with the story or plot with any significance but I'll put a warning here anyway. just in case! It's the start of the REAL Star Trek, with Kirk and Bones and all the rest! We fall in love with Uhura, marvel at the plant hand puppet, cringe at glamour shot card tricks, and watch Kirk have an unfortunately timely conversation with a teenage boy.
There was a short, unexpected break but we've returned with a month's worth of good news coming at ya! Space wifi, fall foliage, MRI room designing, Ann Landers, and Ben goes on an old man rant at the end that turns into something insightful and sweet.
Finally! After almost rage quitting the concept entirely after Warriors has it's very own fridging, Warrior Cats Cast is back! Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions as we get three glasses deep into this bottle of cabernet and witness cats going through depression, trauma, feline filicide, and Graystripe ruins everything again.
A whole year of good news! Who knew we could keep it up? But changes are afoot, and boy are they fun. We've got good news from Seattle, Idaho Falls, Burkesville, Gettysburg, and Ben has a lot to say about the many uses of recycled plastic.
Good news returns next week, but until then enjoy this profanity laden pilot episode of Get Trekt! Sarah and Onslaught 6 tear apart the pilot episode, The Cage, that has weird aliens, Mr. Spock, and not much else resembling Star Trek that pop culture promised us.
Better late than never, right? Journalistic integrity takes time! And this time we have cats, space, more cats, genius kids, good news about the podcast, and Ben recounts his trouble with elementary school history lessons!
A new episode! We haven't changed, still lots of nice stuff to go around. You know what else hasn't changed? Kittens being great, teens doing teen things, pigeons looking awesome, and Ben having some serious opinions on dinosaurs. Again.
We're onto our new bi-weekly format for the time being, but we still got all the big news, all the science, all the fluff, and all the pigeony goodness! Service dogs, spaghetti charity, more than one reason why you're smartphone can save your life, and Ben as some concerns about mushrooms.
Who could've guessed that grad school would be so hard? It's so hard in fact that I had to skip last week's episode! But now we're back on schedule with no more homework, no more allergies, no more tears, and a comprehensive look at just how amazing we can all be when a disaster strikes.
There was a solar eclipse! Have you heard about the solar eclipse yet? The moon was over the sun! Radical! We talk about that plus uncanny valley dogs, satellite birthday bashes, world saving bicycles, and Ben has thoughts about animals named after rock stars.
Good news for anyone who enjoys Ben's tangents: this episode is full of them! This week Ben goes on about cat politics, truth in headlines, prenatal medicine, genetic ethics, and I hope you wanted his opinions on lunchbox juices cause you're getting his opinions on lunchbox juices!
Feeling bummed? News got you down? Let me lift you up...all the way into space! We got space ships, space trees, river ponies, pig opinions, and Ben has some dark conspiracies about a former president...is this the right podcast? Listen and find out!
Sheila joins us in this star studded episode of tiny stars, star wars, and cats with star power! Not to mention math holidays, nice kitties, smart computers, and some controversial opinions about Disney rides!
Ben has taken over the direction of the podcast! Where will he steer it? Into tired 90s reference town. Pandas, dogs, bees, cats, horses, and a foreboding warning from blueberries to every other food ever.
In this investigative special edition of Good News, we blow the lid off of the national holiday conspiracy that infects our page a day calendars and discuss what this means for the future of our podcast.
Audubon, Beatles, Chihuahuas. and Dewgongs! It's an alphabet soup of good news! Oh, and Ben has some thoughts on Sonic cartoons, school curriculums, and the particulars of animal husbandry.
We're back from the den of sin and ready to have some good, clean, happy fun again! Dodgeball, ducks, dining in space and one of the deepest study hall stories we've ever covered!
Book 2: A Yowl of Fire and Ice
Dog ownership took a hard toll on us for awhile but things are smoothing out and we're back to our normal programming schedule! Cat jobs, medical t-shirts, Starburst rankings, and Ben tries and fails to guess Sarah's favorite voice actor.
This episode starts off pretty rocky but we're steering this news ship into a port filled with: butterflies, dinosaurs, eyeballs, and more information about surgical procedures than a normal person would ever want to know!
In this episode we make a big goof and have a genuine discussion about the purpose of this podcast. That purpose? Nice fuzzy junk! Like caribou, llamas, stags, worms, frogs, and the surprise place where you can find dinosaur bones!
It's the first of May and we have some lovely stories for you about cars and helicopters, bees and beavers, and by the way if you don't want to hear a scientific breakdown on parasites the magic number is 13:30.
It's the middle of April and our dog still isn't home, which means we still have time to give you the news! Rainbows, spiders, American dragons, and some good reasons to really 'Like' social media!
Alright, no more pranks! It's us now I swear! It's the most us we've been in awhile even. Good news: fantasy thunderstorms, amazing art, the best of last week's goofs, and Ben has thoughts about data storage and who gets to decide what's culturally relevant!
My my my, take a good long look at that date. Hmm? Oh, no reason. Space, cats, brain scans, and a whole lot of video game jokes for no particular reason!
I hope you were interested in how total artificial hearts work because Ben has the scoop for you! Medical breakthroughs, amusement park confections, educational playlists, and Ben decides to pick up a schtick that Sarah is having none of.
About three times I asked "what are we doing this episode" and the answer turns out: finally finding our best tone! Robots, chocolate, Buzz the Bee ARGs, and a weird tangent about robot Guy Fieri.
Book 1: Into the Wild World of 'Sharing Tongues'
A super negative episode! Ben hates monkeys. Ben hates planes. Ben hates celery! But Ben loves sharing his recipe for the best breakfast he's ever made.
I hope you like the sound of a cat purring because in this episode Special Reporter Sheila got good and close to the mic. Bees, drones, space stuff, and lots and lots of Star Wars!
