In August 1914, the German army launched an invasion of Belgium as a first step to their planned march through France and capture of Paris. As the Germans swept through Belgium and advanced on the French capital, the Allies made a desperate stand along the Marne River. The resulting “Miracle on the Marne” halted the German advance and ended hopes of a quick war. What followed was the grim birth of trench warfare and a conflict that would grind on for years. In this episode, James and Sean explore the opening months of World War I in the west— from Germany’s Schlieffen Plan and France’s doomed offensives to the brutal fighting of the Battle of the Frontiers and the halting of the German onslaught.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On the Tuesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Noah Hiles welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to react to the NFL Week 15 Monday Night Football victory against the Miami Dolphins. How much credit do coach Mike Tomlin and OC Arthur Smith deserve for this team's most complete victory of the season? What adjustments did Smith make to get Aaron Rodgers, Kenneth Gainwell, DK Metcalf, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and the offense on track after a shaky first 25 minutes? Why was Tomlin more aggressive in going for fourth downs with the Connor Heyward tush pus? Is Gainwell becoming the offense's most dangerous weapon? And how did Cam Heyward, Alex Highsmith, Patrick Queen, Jalen Ramsey and the defense clamp down on De'Von Achane and the Dolphins running game after struggles the past two weeks against James Cook and the Bills and Derrick Henry and the Ravens? Especially without T.J. Watt? Our duo tackles those questions and more. Then later, the guys ponder this team's NFL playoffs chances and the ability of "castoffs" including Valdes-Scantling, Asante Samuel Jr. and Kyle Dugger to give it the boost that it needs come January. - Californiske Faith No More forvarsler en form for hybrid-metal på debuten “We Care A Lot”. - Dio udsender sit tredje album, mens Gary Moore og Phil Lynott laver et sidste, vellykket samarbejde med hittet “Out In The Fields”.
The first wave hits hard. The second hits harder. And by the third, the RAIN know they're fighting an army with no end in sight. Frank and Squeaks break down the biggest New York Comic Con headlines, from Invincible season 4 and Batman Knightfall to X-Men '97 and Marvel's Wonder Man. They give honest, spoiler-light reactions to the Peacemaker season 2 finale, talk about what the show sets up for the DCU, and then welcome voice actor Jordan Reynolds for a deep dive on playing Adam Warlock in Marvel Rivals. Jordan explains his audition process, how direction shapes in-game performance, and why Adam should feel like a calm anchor when the fight gets chaotic. Timestamps and Topics 00:00 Cold open and Peacemaker gag, show rundown 01:25 What's on deck today – NYCC news, Peacemaker S2 review, interview with Jordan Reynolds 02:17 Invincible S4 dated for March 2026, where the story heads, cosmic scale, and why Thragg raises the stakes 08:33 Batman: Knightfall animated event – four films starting in 2026, hopes for DC's new animated era 12:25 X-Men '97 – season 2 in summer 2026 with Apocalypse focus, season 3 already planned, Four Horsemen and Onslaught talk 18:27 Wonder Man trailer – Hollywood satire vibes, how meta Marvel might go, January 27, 2026 launch window 24:17 VisionQuest – James Spader back as Ultron, Stark AIs in human form, Speed casting, the “WandaVision-Agatha-VisionQuest” trilogy idea 30:01 Mortal Kombat – MK III confirmed, MK II moves to May 2026, where the films could escalate next 33:09 Starfleet Academy trailer reactions – teen drama concerns vs Trek world-building 37:23 A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms – lighter tone, Ashford tourney focus, January 18, 2026 premiere 43:50 Peacemaker S2 review – why the season works, why the finale felt underwhelming, multiverse town twist, Keith thread 51:17 DCU setup – Checkmate hints, Salvation Run ideas, how this could feed into Superman and government vs metahumans 58:45 What's next – could Peacemaker shift into a Checkmate-style series, Lanterns connections 1:02:15 Interview: Jordan Reynolds (Adam Warlock) – audition approach, building a “stable, reliable” voice, methodical healer playstyle, directing alt callouts and action barks Key Takeaways Invincible's next chapter leans harder into the cosmic war and should bring Thragg front and center. DC's animated Knightfall could set the tone for a fresh post-DCEU animation slate. X-Men '97 is thinking big with Apocalypse while still leaving room for classic arcs to surface later. Wonder Man looks like a character study about actors and fame first, superhero spectacle second. VisionQuest aims at identity and fatherhood, with Ultron and Stark AIs complicating Vision's humanity. MK III is happening while MK II shifts to May 2026, likely escalating from tournament to Earthrealm stakes. Starfleet Academy's tone split the room, but the world of Trek can still benefit from smaller-scale stories done right. Peacemaker S2 delivers heart and growth for Chris Smith, even if the finale plays more like a handoff to the wider DCU. Checkmate and “metahumans vs government” are poised to be a major connective thread into Superman. Jordan Reynolds frames Adam Warlock as the calm center of a chaotic match – measured, hopeful, and precise. Quotes “Season one was a Peacemaker season. This one felt like a Chris season.” “I just wanted him to be happy.” “Ultron is a better villain than one movie. He deserves to be around more.” “If you cannot move fast, you have to be very conscious about your choices.” – Jordan Reynolds “He should feel stable, reliable, an anchor for the team.” – Jordan Reynolds on Adam Warlock Call to Action Enjoying the show? In this explosive episode of Battle Lines, Venetia Rainey is asking the question everyone else is too afraid to: is Britain ready for a Russian-style drone onslaught? Drones have been spotted across Europe — Poland, Germany, Denmark, Belgium — sparking fears of a new kind of hybrid war. Could the UK defend itself if those drones turned up on our shores? To find out, Venetia is joined by ex-RAF pilot and CEO of FlyBy Technology, Jon Parker, and The Telegraph's senior foreign correspondent, Memphis Barker. Their verdict? Britain's readiness score — a pitiful two or three out of ten. Dallas ICE Facility Shooting A gunman attacked an ICE detention center in Dallas, leaving one detainee dead and two critically injured. Authorities found bullet casings with anti-ICE messages, suggesting a political/ideological motive. Commentary links the attack to months of Democratic criticism of ICE, claiming that political rhetoric fueled hostility toward agents. Statements from Gavin Newsom, Jasmine Crockett, Michelle Wu, and others are highlighted as comparing ICE to authoritarian forces, slave patrols, Gestapo, or neo-Nazis. ICE officials argue this rhetoric endangers agents, while critics on MSNBC suggest ICE’s own tactics provoke backlash. Figures like Ted Cruz and JD Vance call for toning down rhetoric and condemn politically motivated violence. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. Thunderbolts #1 (1997)It's time to talk about the origins of the MCU's latest offering as we look at the very first issue of the THUNDERBOLTS!Of course, there is the big undercover villain twist at the end here but who can blame them when Onslaught eliminated all of our heroes and all that's left is Spider-Man, Daredevil and (maybe) Blade. We got Baron Zemo masquerading as a capoeira-slinging Homelander, Techno smuggling in his contraband robot bartenders and so many free-floating goatees you'll think you're trapped in a cable-ready erotic thriller. Also, Meteorite gets judgy, NYC ladies get thirsty of Atlas and Black Widow shows up dressed like she's late for work at a print publishing firm. All this plus Jen and Shawn cover some recent purchases from Free Comic Book Day.*** PROPER COMIC BOOK DISCUSSION STARTS AT 00:11:51 ***Promos: CELLULOID HEROES (https://open.spotify.com/show/5G4VxlMzO0yy7Rub7MPUzx?si=851e84cb62b24949)Continue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter / Instagram / Facebook / Threads / Bluesky or email the show at worstcollectionever@gmail.comAlso, get hip to all of our episodes on YouTube in its own playlist! https://bit.ly/WorstCollectionEverYTDownload the podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and wherever you get your favorite shows. On this episode of "Sara Gonzales Unfiltered," Sara discusses Pete Hegseth's confirmation hearing. Democrats are so blinded by their ideology that they are now arguing that a new mother should be able to fight on the front lines. Hawaiian Senator Mazie Hirono slurs her speech as she questions Hegseth's sobriety. She's the one who sounds drunk at work. Special counsel Jack Smith released his final report last night and tried to claim that Donald Trump would be a felon if he wasn't elected president. The House passed a bill that would protect women's sports. The episode concludes with Sara and the panel reflecting on how the mainstream media's ratings have been plummeting since Donald Trump was re-elected. Sara is joined today by Eric July, founder of Rippaverse Comics, and Blaze Media strategist Logan Hall. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
