Taryn Watson from Fitright Physio has been learning on the go since day one. She has developed a flexible business model that pays her Physio's a commission based on the number of clients utilising their services. This model drives her staff to deliver high quality service and reduces Taryn's fixed overheads as this is embedded into the commission payment. But as her business has grown, so too has uncertainty around her financial situation. She often found herself second guessing her ability to stay afloat as baby number two was on its way. This prompted her to employ the services of a Business Coach that unfortunately did NOT deliver the goods. Taryn opens up about how this caused anxiety, financial loss and uncertainty in the lead up to her daughter being born. But, as is often the case, this adversity has driven Taryn to making key changes in her online booking system and HR management that have refined her business even further. This is a must listen for ALL Small Biz Owners! Also make sure you SHARE the love and give us a review on Apple Podcast. As Seth Godin puts it, "Low price is the hiding place for the average creator". In Episode 11, we discuss why many small businesses find it hard to price their product or service in the beginning. What fills them with even more fear is experimenting with pricing. We discuss this from Roper Tutoring Co's perspective, being a membership based service business in the education industry and from the financial services perspective. If your in this position you might be wondering how you can get the information needed to make a decision, or how long to experiment for? We also discuss what type of customer you deserve and how to recognise what your worth! First episode back for 2020 and boy are we feeling recharged. In Episode 10 (yes that's right we made it double digits guys, whoop whoop) we discuss the importance of the Customer Journey. In today's marketing age it's important that you "Find your truth and share it!" Thinking of meaningful ways to share your "WHY" with your customers is the most effective way of building trust and converting them into regulars. As small business owners, we sometimes find it hard to look at our business from our customers point of view. So start by reflecting on the touchpoints you experience as a customer of other businesses. What works for you, what has made a significant impact, what aspects of customer service do you appreciate? We discuss our own experiences as customers, analysing what works and what could be done better. We also finish today's with a bit of homework for you (that's right, we are going to make you accountable). We want you to identify the touchpoints within your business and figure out how they can be improved. Let 2020 mark a fresh decade and a fresh take on your customer experience! Today we speak to Dr Kyla Smith, the proud creator and owner of Meal Time Building Blocks, Baby Mealtimes and Toddler Meal Times. She’s a lover of vegetables and a big fan of sharing food with those you love. Dr Kyla is a Paediatric Dietitian that has been specialising in fussy eating for over decade. Hearing how Kyla came to the realisation that people were more invested in her personal brand than her small business brand is definitely food for thought. When your audience mainly engages with you over social media, it’s important to realise that your personal brand is just another name for your reputation. If you have or are thinking about starting a business, considering asking yourself the question, “What are you doing to build your reputation and become an expert in your industry?” The other thing I found refreshing about today’s episode is that Kyla was able to admit where she needed support and has taken steps to improve these areas for the future. She is a great example of an inspirational small business owners in Perth and I can’t wait to share the origin stories of our upcoming guests. Earlier this year Tracey started NRG, a network referral group that is quickly becoming a networking powerhouse in Perth.Tracey explains that one of the key attributes to her companies success despite the Banking Royal Commission and falling house prices is perseverance. The team at Financecorp put their "heads down and bums up" to weather a potentially devastating outcome for the finance industry. The desire to generate her team more leads is what fuelled the creation of NRG. The Networking Referral Group has exploded in Perth, offering 36 groups with over 200 members. Strap in for an earth shattering episode of the Perth Small Business Show. Today we speak to Richard Alexander, one half of the lean and mean team behind International Earthmoving Equipment Solutions. IEES is a Bellvue based business that is finding mining equipment solutions for companies all over the world. We talk about what it’s like to build a business in the wake of a massive mining downturn and what strategies can be used to cultivate international business partnerships. Richard explains how two mates from the Perth Hills have built a booming business when, in the beginning, no banks were willing to play ball, sustainable growth was uncertain and success meant having to compete on a global scale. The origin story of IEES is a reminder that a small team can achieve incredible goals. Richard's ability to build lasting relationships in the international mining industry has been a key factor to his success. Despite language barriers, cultural differences and fluctuating expectations, Richard continues to plant, grow and harvest these relationships on a daily basis, understanding that the "mining around the world is a huge industry, but a small community". Chevon Semmens is the creator and owner of Little Land, Perth’s newest play space that offers a scaled down version of the real world that inspires children to learn through role-play. What we love about Little Land’s origin story is how much time and effort Chevon put into preparing for her launch. She created a focus group of industry professionals, collaborated with local government agencies, collected data from the City of Stirling, engaged high quality reputable brand and website developers and hit the socials hard for 9 whole months before first day of operation. Chevon put herself out there and, day by day, post by post, she moulded her vision into a reality. She collects feedback from customers, her staff and her original focus group in order to make visible change. She balances being a Mum of two young boys with building a business that is inspiring children to learn through role-play all over Perth. Listen and learn guys! You're going to need a pen and paper at the ready.
