A MONUMENTAL ORGANIZING MOMENT….& VICTORY IN ECUADOR     This breakthrough two-hour networking session joins RAY MCCLENDON and ANDREA MILLER of the “Georgia Miracle” with RACHEL COYLE and COURTNEY FLYNN of swing state Ohio, where a major grassroots victory has been won protecting the referendum process.   Ray tells us he has now helped form a new multi-state organization to help spread the grassroots tactics and strategies that famously turned two US Senate seats from Georgia into a reshaped majority in the nation's upper house.   Andrea explains some of the key organizing principles that have made her work at the Center for Common Ground so critically important to protecting democracy throughout our nation.     Rachel then explains how the grassroots forces in the Buckeye State beat back a GOP attempt to destroy the referendum process.   She's joined by Courtney Flynn from the Ohio Voter Rights Coalition, which helped turn this seemingly un-winnable fight into a landmark victory for democracy.   Joining these great multi-state organizers will hopefully help yield a transcendent campaign operation that will spread from the Ohio/Georgia axis throughout the US in the coming years, especially in the lead-up to 2024.   Joining the dialog is VINNIE DESTEFANO of the Julian Assange campaign who is full of brilliant campaign tactics—banner drops and more—usable by grassroots groups throughout the world.   JOHN STEINER and WENDI LEDERMAN add to the critical dialog.   ERIC LAZARUS joins the great RUSSELL GREENE to fill us in on the major march coming up at the United Nations on September 17.  Russell continues to break barriers with his signature brilliance and perseverance.   FOREST BEAUDOIN-FREED and MARK HARRISON contribute to the dialog.   MYLA RESON warns that despite his progressive reputation, US Senator SHELDON WHITEHOUSE has been a dangerous advocate of atomic power.   For our second hour, we're joined by Teamster organizer AARON WAZLAVEK who celebrates his union's hard-won wins and promises to join us again.   In our second hour, the great STEVE DONZIGER tells us of the monumental victory of the Ecuadorian people, who've become the first national population to vote a ban on oil drilling.     Steve has become a major figure in the progressive movement as a result of Chevon's attacks against him, and will be feted at a fundraising event in Topanga Canyon, California, headlined by JANE FONDA, JODIE EVANS and others.   Steve's fundraiser host, DOROTHY REIK, fills us in on the big mistake the oil industry has made in taking away attorney Donziger's law license.  What a travesty!!!    JUSTIN LEBLANC, TATANKA BRICCA, MIMI SPREADBURY, JEFFREY BARKDULL and MARY STONEWALL-DOUGLAS expand the dialog.   The great CAMILLA REES punctuates the drama with critical references to the fight to shut the Diablo Canyon nukes.   Thank you all for joining us in this monumental dialog.  No Nukes!  And we wish the people of Ecuador success in protecting the beloved Amazon.

Paving a Path to Success in Frontline Contact Center Leadership    This week, we welcome Chevon Brathwaite to the Digitally Irresistible podcast. Chevon is senior manager of operations at iQor Trinidad and Tobago with over 15 years' experience in contact center operations and a passion for customer service and professional development for frontline employees.    Chevon began his career working in contact center operations, gaining additional responsibilities and shouldering new roles as he displayed an aptitude for developing himself and others to excel in the customer service business. His boots-on-the-ground experience as an agent and supervisor helped advance his career in the BPO industry with iQor Trinidad and Tobago, where he supports iQor's clients through a diverse talent pool supported by a comprehensive infrastructure that delivers robust data security and performance for smile-worthy CX.  On this episode, we discuss how Chevon paved the way for new client relationships with iQor in Trinidad and Tobago by maximizing the performance of his teams to exceed client KPIs while also investing in their personal and professional development.   Earning Client Confidence Through Open Communication and Quality Customer Service   Chevon began his career as a call center agent at the frontlines of customer care. As he gained experience, his authentic passion for providing exceptional customer service propelled his advancement to supervisory roles. Chevon's experience as a call center supervisor provided him with a new perspective on customer service. Investing directly in his team's well-being and professional development to aid their achievement of department objectives resulted in a significant and lasting impact on customer service culture within the company.    Upon initially expanding nearshoring services to Trinidad and Tobago, iQor gave Chevon the opportunity to join us as a critical operations resource. His years of hands-on experience fielding customer inquiries and managing teams in the region made him an ideal candidate. Chevon joined iQor, transitioning from a single-brand contact center environment to a BPO environment servicing multiple clients. Chevon embraced the opportunity with great enthusiasm, leveraging his extensive contact center management experience. He set out to listen to the needs of all his clients and harnessed iQor's resources to achieve the best outcomes for all the clients that his team supports.    To accomplish this, Chevon emphasized close, open communication with the client to achieve their KPIs, while maintaining his commitment to quality and security. The unique characteristics of the talent pool in Trinidad and Tobago combined with iQor's high standards in client data privacy and protection empowered Chevon to support new clients and drive operations excellence at iQor.  Why Trinidad and Tobago Is an Attractive Location for Nearshore Customer Service    Trinidad and Tobago features a combination of strategic advantages that position it as an attractive location in the global outsourcing landscape. Chevon describes how the country's unique qualities combine with iQor's CX operations expertise to create optimal outcomes for the clients he and his team support.   Geographically positioned below the hurricane belt, the islands' location ensures a level of operational stability and minimizes the risks associated with weather-related events, making the two-island nation a reliable hub for businesses seeking reliable customer service operations.   Trinidad and Tobago also boasts a population of young, college-educated, digitally savvy talent ready to delve into the world of customer service. This pool of skilled professionals offers a unique blend of technical aptitude and innovative thinking, paving the way for adaptable and creative solutions to customer interactions.    The country's population includes a large number of bilingual speakers, providing a competitive edge by enabling seamless communication with a diverse range of customers. While Trinidad and Tobago has its own distinct culture, it also shares many similarities with American culture, allowing for a seamless adaptation to the needs and expectations of American customers. This cultural compatibility fosters a sense of familiarity and understanding between agent and customer that drives higher customer satisfaction.    Trinidad and Tobago is a nearshore customer service destination that blends geographic resilience, skilled talent, linguistic versatility, and American cultural synchronization to deliver top-tier customer experiences. Chevon's leadership focuses on integrating these benefits into optimized teams and operations strategies that yield powerful returns on investment (ROI) for iQor's strategic partners, many of whom begin with one line of business and expand to multiple LOBs due to their success.    The Positive Feedback Loop of Employee Experiences That Inspire Engagement and Deliver Exceptional CX   In his role as senior manager of operations at iQor Trinidad and Tobago, Chevon is most passionate about working with people to cultivate and strengthen bonds between team members and customers. Investing in the success of his employees through mentorship and other support practices gives his work a sense of purpose and drives his commitment to managing with excellence. iQor's succession planning and career pathing programs ensure that when Chevon invests in the success of his teams, he is helping each agent cultivate opportunities for their own professional advancement and support within the company.     In one case, an agent on Chevon's team was experiencing a personal challenge. Chevon took the time to understand what iQor could do to provide support while the agent navigated their circumstances. This agent received support and has since advanced to a management position, exemplifying iQor's investment in tenured employees who create value for our clients.   Chevon's contribution to this process is critical to creating positive employee experiences driven by evidence-backed retention strategies that boost engagement and build employees into leaders.     3 Irresistible Benefits Driving Client Expansion Into Nearshoring With iQor Trinidad and Tobago    Chevon has been integral in maximizing Trinidad and Tobago as an attractive nearshoring geolocation to build and expand client relationships. One of iQor's clients had not previously outsourced to a nearshore location and expressed an interest in learning more. Chevon met with the client, highlighting his team's capabilities and the location's benefits. Chevon emphasized three areas that ultimately inspired the client to expand their strategic outsourcing partnership with iQor to include nearshoring services in Trinidad and Tobago.  1. Rapid, efficient onboarding.   The client was impressed by the iQor Trinidad and Tobago's swift onboarding process, which seamlessly recruited and trained new talent, demonstrating remarkable efficiency and a commitment to delivering results from day one.    2. Data security and protection.   A top priority for the client was iQor's unwavering commitment to stringent data protection protocols and maintaining top-tier security compliance, instilling confidence in the safety of sensitive information and fostering a trustworthy partnership.  iQor provides this peace of mind for all clients in all geos with best-in-class CX cloud infrastructure and multi-layer security protocols. We continuously invest in a dynamic zero trust approach to cybersecurity that leverages the most up-to-date trends in security awareness with multi-factor authentication, network security, data security, device authentication, and continuous monitoring of client and customer information.   3. Bilingual talent.    The availability of a bilingual talent pool in this geolocation helped solidify the client's decision to nearshore their operations with iQor Trinidad and Tobago. Linguistic familiarity helps provide seamless customer service across a diverse array of inquiries, simplifying interactions and maintaining customer satisfaction.   Investing in Leadership Is Key to Success in Every Geolocation   At iQor, we recognize that the cornerstone of success lies in a strategic investment in leadership. Chevon's consistent excellence in contact center roles showcased his capability of providing the guidance, motivation, and direction to navigate diverse customer needs as a senior operations manager while keeping up with the ever-evolving BPO industry.  Since taking on the responsibility of senior operations manager at iQor Trinidad and Tobago, Chevon's coaching and support practices have consistently inspired optimal performance from the diverse talent pool he manages. His proven ability to oversee the onboarding process, along with the availability of a bilingual workforce and iQor's commitment to data security, have inspired client confidence in nearshoring with iQor Trinidad and Tobago, driving successful client outcomes with exceptional customer service.    What Chevon Does for Fun    Like many Trinidadians, Chevon enjoys soaking up the sun and surf on the beautiful local beaches. The right-wing loves yelling, “We're a republic, not a democracy!” Now they have a Supreme Court that agrees with them. The Court is about to hear Moore v. Harper, a gerrymandering case that will also take up the Electors Clause of the Constitution. The Republican legal argument, made famous by Trump's 2020 legal team, is that state legislatures can send their own choice of electors to the Electoral College, rather than abiding by the vote of the people. The implications of this are huge — the end of ‘one person, one vote.' Brian is joined by Steven Donziger, an advocate, writer and public speaker on human rights and corporate accountability. His most recent piece is The most terrifying case of all is about to be heard by the US Supreme Court. He also filed a class-action lawsuit with others against Chevron for environmental damage – including dumping 17 million gallons of crude oil in the Ecuadorian rainforest – and won a historic $9.5 billion judgment. Chevon then fled Ecuador and launched a campaign against Donziger that resulted in him being disbarred, serving 45 days behind bars, and under home confinement for 993 days. The guys show some love to the pesky/feisty Kevin Kisner who seems to always show out at the ACC, as well as Scott's excellent dark horse pick of the week--albeit at his 2nd attempt--in Canadian, Corey Conners (PHIL?!, PHIL CONNERS?!?!?) After that, the guys take a dive into "Poppie's Pond" to talk about the Chevron Championship and whether anyone but JYK can actually win this thing (they can) and who might challenge her (someone else whose name starts with a "K"). The guys then talk all about the Augusta National Women's Amateur and spotlight a few of the world's best amateur women, including a few with local ties (Let's go Rina Tatematsu!). And lastly, JT calls it in for his picks on the Valero Texas Open, while openly poo-pooing most of Keith and Scott's picks for the golfers down in San Antone!

He also talks about his most recent book “State of Resistance: What California's Dizzying Descent And Remarkable Resurgence Mean For America's Future”.  In the midst of an extremely difficult time with multiple incidences of police violence over the past few days/ weeks, Dennis and Chevon share resources that speak to trauma informed healing, and what they are each doing to take care of themselves during this time.  We’ll be back soon with the season finale of Momentum: A Race Forward Podcast –– until then, take care of yourselves, and each other. Resources (by order of mention) Race Forward Statement: Derek Chauvin Found Guilty; But Our Work Is Not Done: Race Forward Calls For Urgency In Reimagining Public Safety That Values Black and Brown Liveshttps://bit.ly/3guVN6f ‘Trauma decontextualized in a people can look like culture’ – Resmaa Menakem on how racism affects the body (via gal-dem) https://bit.ly/2PiRaBg Trauma Stewardship, by Laura van Dernoot (Book) https://traumastewardship.com/inside-the-book/ USC Equity Research Institutehttps://dornsife.usc.edu/eri Report: No Going Back: Together for an Equitable and Inclusive Los Angeles (via Equity Research Institute)https://dornsife.usc.edu/eri/no-going-back State of Resistance, by Dr. Manuel Pastor (Book)https://stateofresistancebook.com/ The Sum Of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together, by Heather McGhee (Book)https://bit.ly/3xlMwnk Manuel Pastor on Climate Equity (via Climate One) https://bit.ly/3gBrTNM Manuel Pastor (Twitter) www.twitter.com/prof_mpastor About Race Forward:  Race Forward catalyzes movement building for racial justice. On this episode of Momentum, Chevon is joined by Dennis Chin, Race Forward’s Director of Strategic Initiatives for an important conversation around the recent/ ongoing anti-Asian attacks happening across the nation. To root the conversation, Dennis shares his background in racial justice work, his experience recently having been targeted and accosted himself, and his experience working with Race Forward’s AAPI Caucus in crafting a statement after last month’s horrific acts of violence in Atlanta. Chevon and Dennis share some examples relating to the history of anti-Asian racism in the United States, the history and complexities of how Asian immigrant communities and Asian-Americans have been positioned in America, and how narratives like the “Chinavirus” (in reference to COVID-19) and the “model minority myth” are harmful and can lead to the proliferation of racist acts of violence. Lastly, Dennis and Chevon discuss the tensions that arise/exist between BIPOC communities that are a result of white supremacy and patriarchal systems at work, the conversations that are needed to dismantle these systems, and naming on the ground organizations that are directly addressing anti-Asian violence. It is our hope that this episode helps ground you for the important work there is still to do over the next few months and years––  and like our hosts said “there is room for everybody in this fight”. We’re excited to announce that Dennis will be back to co-host with Chevon the last two episodes of Season 2 of Momentum: A Race Forward Podcast, and we’re looking forward to having you listen in! Resources (by order of mention)  Race Forward Decries Hate Violence Against Asian Americans In Atlanta And Across The Country https://bit.ly/39SpIRQ Here's what we know about the metro Atlanta spa shootings that left 8 dead (via CNN)https://cnn.it/3d3oXaN A woman's brutal attack exposed a torrent of anti-Asian violence after the Atlanta shootings (via CNN)https://cnn.it/2OABrx6 Asian Americans Advancing Justice https://www.advancingjustice-aajc.org/ Oakland Chinatown Coalitionwww.facebook.com/chinatowncoalition Yang Song And The Long History Of Targeting Asian American Sex Workers (via Hyphen Magazine) https://bit.ly/3muYrK8 Red Canary Songhttps://www.redcanarysong.net/ Jeff’s Chang’s We Gon’ Be Alright –– The Digital Series http://bealright.net/ The Life of Afong Moy, the First Chinese Woman in America (via Literary Hub) https://bit.ly/3rZDN67 The Accidental American by Rinku Sen (via Goodreads)https://bit.ly/3uy4DUM Freedom INC. https://freedom-inc.org/ Hollaback!https://www.ihollaback.org Safewalks NYCwww.instagram.com/safewalksnyc CAAAV –– Organizing Asian Communitieshttps://caaav.org/ About Race Forward:  Race Forward catalyzes movement building for racial justice. When we are in community with God, we experience His love. It's the same when we are in community with each other, even if it's online. Paul in the Bible prayed that we would know the hope we've been called to. And that hope is all to do with God's amazing power within us. We've all heard and read about the three things which never fade: faith, hope and love. Everything God does is expressed through God's nature of love. Chevon shows us how God's divine love is the key to becoming full of hope - and spreading that hope.

[Producer’s Note]: This episode was originally recorded September 24th.  After a couple of heavy weeks filled with collective loss and grief, Chevon and Hiba open Momentum: A Race Forward Podcast working through the powerful and difficult emotions generated by Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s refusal to prosecute the Breonna Taylor case, and the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. (Do not miss this—Chevon and Hiba have one of the most important conversations that we have ever had the privilege to share.) In this very timely conversation, Hiba and Chevon are joined by the team behind the HBO documentary, Yusuf Hawkins: Storm Over Brooklyn, which “tells the story of Yusuf Hawkins, a black teenager who was murdered in 1989 by a group of young white men in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Yusuf Hawkins’ death and the official response to it sparked outrage in New York, unleashing a torrent of racial tension and spurring tireless civil rights activism that exposed deep racial prejudices and inequities which continue to plague the country today.”  Director Muta’Ali and Producer Victorious Decosta share how they came to work on the film, the behind the scenes experiences working with Yusef’s family and friends to tell his story, and the importance of creating solutions oriented resources in collaboration with activist groups to keep the conversation going for viewers. Muta’Ali and Victorious also talk about the impact of the Breonna Taylor verdict and the parallels to the lack of justice in the Yusef Hawkins case.  In the spirit of solidarity and collaboration –– Facing Race: A National Virtual Conference is only one month away, and we’d love to have you join us for the largest multiracial, intergenerational gathering of racial justice movement making. Resources (by order of mention)  Facing Racewww.facingrace.raceforward.org Here's What's at Stake If Trump Replaces RBG on the U.S. Supreme Court (via Colorlines)https://bit.ly/3lRPFV1 “There is No Justice Here” (via Colorlines)https://bit.ly/3nQPN9h Breonna Taylor's Family, Advocates React to ‘Outrageous and Offensive’ Grand Jury Decision (via Colorlines) https://bit.ly/2H2VzE2 Detroit Police Officer Charged in Shooting Death of Aiyana Stanley-Jones (via Colorlines)https://bit.ly/3iVsmrz Bree Newsome Basshttps://bit.ly/3nUrd7i WATCH: 'Yusuf Hawkins: Storm Over Brooklyn' Debuts on HBOhttps://bit.ly/2GZHoQf Yusuf Hawkins: Storm Over Brooklynhttps://itsh.bo/34XD6ku For the Color of His Skin: The Murder of Yusuf Hawkins and the Trial of Bensonhursthttps://bit.ly/3nTuMec “Storm Over Brooklyn” Discussion Guide https://itsh.bo/3nLqkOq  Muta’Ali Official Site https://www.mutaali.com/Instagramwww.instagram.com/mutaaliTwitterwww.twitter.com/mutaali Victorious DeCostaInstagram www.instagram.com/victoriouswashereTwitterwww.twitter.com/VictoriousAqui About Race Forward:  Race Forward catalyzes movement building for racial justice. Isn't it good to hear people's stories. Stories of salvation, healing, freedom from addiction. Chevon looks at the story of when Jesus healed a man who had been paralysed for 38 years - and looks at his "new identity". What we are known for is no match for the identity we find in Jesus. What are you known for? Who or what is the foundation of your identity? Who is your story serving? Listen in and be encouraged as Chevon tackles these questions.

What we emphasise is prioritised. Many of the Bible characters discovered that for themselves. But how can we apply that today? How can we have the voice of God lead and shape our own stories?  When our conversations are God-centred, they are powerful conversations. They're great stories. Chevon looks at the old Bible story of Elijah and the widow at Zarephath for modern answers to shaping our conversations, having great stories, and prioritising effectively.

What is the way of God? Chevon helps us to see that it's love. God tells and shows us that He is Love. Love is in His DNA. And it's love which identifies us as followers of God. As a church, "Love, Grow, Serve" is the language we have put to living practically for Jesus. But how do we apply that personally? Chevon takes a look at the popular Bible passage which demonstrates the way of love - 1 Corinthians 13 - and, together with her own love-story, uncovers the extravagant way of God: love.

Kenrya Rankin, author, activist, doula, and former senior editorial director of Colorlines, joins Chevon and Hiba to talk about everything from ‘freedom dreaming’ to Black love and sex in books and podcasts.  Kenrya talks about her beginnings in Cleveland and her move to New York, what her book How We Fight White Supremacy: A Field Guide To White Resistance means to her one year later, and her own journey as co-host of The Turn On, a podcast about sex and literary erotica. We preview a new Mass Freedom FRED Talks conversation between Dawn Harrington, Executive Director at Free Hearts, and Jessica Rodriguez, an immigrant rights activist and Director of the Southside Workers Center. They explore why it’s important to build solidarity across movements to end mass incarceration and mass detention. In celebration of Black History Month and Valentine’s Day, Hiba and Chevon discuss the late Eva Rutland’s contributions to the romance novel genre, and talk about the importance of uplifting Black romance writing and representation.  Resources (by order of mention)  Eva Rutland, Browne Popular Culture Library (Thread)https://bit.ly/39LlSY6 Entwined Destinies Digital Gallery: Elsie B. Angela Glover Blackwell, founder in residence at Policylink, and host of the new Radical Imagination Podcast, joins Chevon and Hiba to talk about her longtime work as a leading voice in the movement for equity and racial justice. In this conversation, Angela talks about the “racial moment” we are currently living, and challenges us to think radically in creating narratives that will lead to concrete solutions. Drawing on a lifetime of experience as an activist, Angela provides a reframing of “hopelessness” in this moment in the U.S., and inspires us to use the moment as an opportunity for important social change. We introduce our brand new Colorlines series “Who Do We Think We Are” by Race Forward’s Senior Fellow, Rosana Cruz that is timely in the wake of the recent “American Dirt” book controversy. Hiba sits with Rosana for a conversation about the creation of the series, and their experience interviewing Latinx-identified movement leaders, artists, and cultural innovators about how they define themselves racially. Hiba and Chevon also discuss the former ‘Biggest Loser’ trainer Jillian Michaels and her recent comments on Lizzo’s body image, Lizzo’s response and self-affirmations, and place Michaels’ comments in the context of systemic racism, anti-blackness, and fatphobia. Leave a 5-star review, and subscribe for more episodes of Momentum: A Race Forward Podcast! Resources (by order of mention) “Who Do We Think We Are” Colorlines Serieshttp://bit.ly/WhoThinkWeAreCLSeries PolicyLinkwww.policylink.org Radical Imagination Podcastwww.radicalimagination.us “My Role in a Social Change Ecosystem” by Deepa Iyerhttp://bit.ly/SocialChangeEcosystemIyer Update on Moms For Housing Campaignhttp://bit.ly/RFMomsForHousingUpdate Follow Angela Glover Blackwell on Twitterwww.twitter.com/agb4equity About Race Forward: Race Forward catalyzes movement building for racial justice. Be Wealthy & Smart

Learn if the economy can get to 5% GDP growth quickly or not. Weakest GDP since 2011 - went from 3.5% to 1.9% in one quarter! Lower earnings reported by Chevon, other energy companies, Google, Colgate-Palmolive and Starbucks. Even with some disappointing corporate results, fourth-quarter earnings are expected to show growth of 6.8 percent, which would mark the biggest increase in two years and second straight quarter of growth, according to Thomson Reuters data. Dow hit 20,000 for the first time. Took 18 years to double - that’s a 4% average annual return. Is most of the good news already baked into 2017? Consumer spending is up .5% in December, largest jump in 3 months, which is 2/3 of the economy. Good news there. Pending home sales up 1.9%, 17 year shortage of housing. Trump growth of 5% is going to take a while and won’t happen right away. Cycles are showing massive swings up and down in the market this year. FED may raise rates 3 times - inflation is flaring up. IMO, we have the EU break up to look forward to, a European bank failure, and a lot of cash flowing into our markets as a safe haven from China and Europe. Other countries have been moving their funds here from China, Russia and Europe and that will likely pick up. Cycles are showing some extreme volatility and since this is the second longest bull market ever, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the economy weaken even to the point of recession and the stock market have a meaningful pullback. Increased volatility. Rather than try to short it, I suggest you get your shopping list ready to buy the dips, when there is real fear. Look to corporate bonds for income and stay away from bond funds. It will take time for President Trump to turn the economy into a faster growth GDP. In the meantime, there will be wild swings as the dollar and other currencies fluctuate. To get “11 Quick Financial Tips to Boost Your Wealth”, go to www.lindapjones.com.
