Hey yall. Happy Sunday. In this week's episode, I review an article entitled Menstruation Vacation. I found it very interesting. According to the article, this is no medical need to have a monthly period. Of course, we have heard this before but I have mixed feelings about it. Take a listen and let me know what you think. If you're not already, follow the show page on Instagram @supercytogirl. The show is about to make some major changes. Stay plugged into the page so you will be the first to know. Have a fantastic week Loves.
Hey yall. Happy Sunday! Season 2 Episode 9 I talk about how so incredibly happy I am this election cycle is coming to an end. It's been stressful. More importantly, I can't believe we have a Black Woman VP of the United States! I'm so over the moon. To see all the people celebrating all across the world has been surreal and rewarding. Decency wins! I'm so happy for Senator Kamala Harris. This is definitely a win for team #BlackGirlMagic. I am eager to see the working relationship Joe Biden and Kamala Harris create together. I also talked about an article I found-The Yeast Beast by Vikki Mioduszewski. I learned a few different things I didn't know about vaginal fungal infections. It is pretty interesting if you ask me. Check it out and share this episode with a friend. I hope everyone has a great week. Don't forget to follow me on Instagram @supercytogirl, the same on Facebook. With Love Irise
Hey, my loves. Happy Sunday. I'm bringing you a solo episode this week telling you about why Super Cyto Girl is going away. I know, I know. It's not as bad as it sounds though. Rebranding is on the way. I'm Excited! To be honest, when I first released the show, I knew then I would have to rebrand and that's okay! I am truly the poster child for learning as I go. I look forward to this new season. I also talked about taking a trip to my home city Memphis TN, and being recharged by the love I felt during that trip. During these trying uncertain times, it's so important to feed our emotional bodies too. I hope you all have an amazing week. Follow the Podcast page on IG: SuperCytoGirl

She owns two businesses: A-Plus Events and Consulting (event planning services) and Sassy Cocktails (mobile bartending). Ashley came to chat about her experiences with pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood. Most recently, she experienced giving birth during a pandemic and discovering her new baby has Trisomy 21, also known as Down Syndrome. October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. The purpose of this awareness month is to raise public awareness and advocate for inclusion for individuals with Down Syndrome. I applaud Ashley for her grace, strength, and willingness to share her story. If this episode touches you in any way, please share it with someone who would benefit. Hey yall. Happy Sunday. I hope you all are getting a great start to your week. In today's episode, I talk about maintaining mental clarity by listening to my body and having a good self-care regime. This weekend my self-care consisted of a high-intensity workout, mediation, and quality time with my tiny human. We know that we are still in the midst of a pandemic, so if you are looking for some an opportunity to exercise or create balance through yoga or meditation, check out the people/pages below. For online training, check out my favorite trainer Tika, the creator of 30 Days Hard. The 30 Days Hard community offers more than just exercise. There is also an offering of meal plans and cooking demonstrations. You can find her on Instagram @tikathetrainer. For yoga and meditation opportunities, check out @puregoldyoga and @livingfre on Instagram as well as inside the Journey to Living Fre Facebook group. Did you watch the vice-presidential debate? I won't go into a lot of detail but I'll just say I'll be glad when Black women can show up in the world as we choose. To hear some of the things that have been said about Kamala Harris since the debate is extremely frustrating and annoying frankly. Seems like Black women's actions are always being picked apart. Will it ever end? I also talked about how there are plans to remove Pap Tests as a primary screening tool for eradicating cervical cancer. That's a scary thought. The Pap Test has been an effective tool used to screen for cervical cancer over the last 50 years. It's baffling to me that is even a consideration. The rationale is that HPV tests are more sensitive and thus a more effective screening tool for cervical cancer care. While I am a believer in science and research, as someone who has screened GYN specimens for abnormal lesions myself, I can say with certainty that every woman is different and this one size fits all approach will be of detriment to women. Although Pap tests are designed specifically to detect cervical cancer, we are able to see cell changes associated with Herpes infections, hormonal changes, cancerous lesions of the endometrium, and many other things. To take away the Pap Tests means that these conditions might go undetected and untreated. Do yall know they have started doing uterus transplants? I don't know what to say about it. I know I don't plan to donate my uterus but check out this article and tell me what you think...Uterus Transplants. That's all for this week. Don't forget to follow the show page on Instagram @supercytogirl, share the show with a friend, and leave a 5-star review. Until next time... Yours Truly, Irise

Hey yall. Happy Sunday! This week's episode features LaToya Dwight of The Fibroid Pandemic, LLC. She and I chatted about how she felt inspired to form her brand The Fibroid Pandemic after she herself was diagnosed with uterine fibroids. During a routine visit, Latoya went from being told that she had uterine fibroids, to receiving a recommendation to proceed with a hysteractomy all within a matter of minutes. This triggered a more than 4 year span of research, gathering data and resources about uterine fibroids. The mission of this research was to not only help herself but to help other women suffering with uterine fibroids. If you or someone you know suffers from uterine fibroids, you really want to check out this episode. You can find LaToya and information about The Fibroid Pandemic on Instagram @TheFibroidPandemic, on Facebook on the Fibroid Pandemic's private Facebook group- The Fibroid Pandemic, and www.thefibroidpandemic.com. Hey yall! Oh my goodness. It's been so long since we have chatted! I apologize because It's totally my fault. I moved from Tennessee to Florida over the summer. Although I am loving my new location, this move was much more on my mind than I anticipated. I had a very ambitious goal of only taking 30 days off from the podcast but honestly, I just couldn't do it. I talk more about what this move has been for me and how I have been having some real internal struggles in this season premiere. I also talk about how I received help from two unexpected (but very much appreciated) places during my time away. I have some awesome episodes scheduled for this season. In the next coming weeks, we will discuss the topics of uterine fibroids, postpartum depression and some of the experiences Black trans women face in today's society. Our guests for these episodes include LaToya Dwight of the Fibroid Pandemic, LLC. out of Atlanta, Georgia, Tara Seay of Universal Parenting Place and Jasmine Tasaki of We Care Tennessee both out of Memphis, TN. Mentioned in this episode- Robbie Green who is also known as The Working Mom's Coach. @the_working_moms_coach on Instagram. She was featured before on the podcast on Season 1 episode 11. And Cody Little @CodyTheGrand #OnThePorchWithCody on Instagram Thank you to everyone who has continued to listen and catch up on episodes since I have been away. Your support means so much. Happy Season One Finale! Episode 14 marks the season finale of the Super Cyto Girl Podcast. I have learned so much thus far. So many things I can't wait to incorporate for season two! In today's episode, I gave some brief thoughts about my feelings about the #GeorgeFloyd murder. It's been a rough week for so many. So many people are hurting. I am wrapping each of you in my virtual hugs and prayers. On another note, I do have some GREAT personal news...I'm moving! Listen to the episode to find out where...One hint...It's outside of Tennessee! I also talk about my awesome realtor Ivana Johnson. She's super dope and super sweet. She's made every portion of this moving process a breeze. You can find her on Instagram @uheartelyshia and @ivanatherealtor. "Staying ready so you won't have to get ready." A principle I learned from @FierceFearlessFree. She has tons of resources for personal development and women's empowerment available. Be sure to check both of my sisters in success. In this episode, I also talk about a holiday that was celebrated last week on May 28th-World Menstruation Hygiene Day. This holiday is celebrated in an effort to create a society that sees menstruation is healthy and normal. You can follow #periodproblems on IG to learn more. Last but not least, I interviewed Dr. Kirsten McKnight, Optometric Physician and Clinic Manager at Church Health in Memphis, TN. I invited her on to talk about Healthy Vision Month. We chatted about how disease processes show up in the eyes and how this should obviously highlight the need to get regular eye exams. We talked about how important it is to take care of the body overall to prevent systemic issues that show up in the eye. My favorite part of the episode is a quote by Dr. McKnight. "My biggest wish for Healthy Vision Month is that people prioritize their systemic health and then follow up with well vision exams." This has been a great season. I hope you have enjoyed!!!
Hey yall. Happy Sunday! May is Mental Health Awareness Month. I am so glad I had the chance to chat with Toni Louis of Holistically Yours, LLC. Toni dropped so many gems about how we can achieve BALANCE in our lives. Toni has 2 main clients. She services individuals and clients wanting counseling services. She also is a self-care coach. I enjoyed speaking with Toni about her journey to opening her own practice and the things we can do to find more satisfaction emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. Connect with Toni by following her IG @tonilouislpc, Facebook Holistically. Yours and her website ToniLouis.com
I cannot tell you all how excited I am to have Dr. Keisha Burnett on as a guest today! Keisha is my former professor and friend. She has accomplished so much, and with her busy schedule, I am honored she made time to come and chat with me. Oh, we got into yall. We talked about a lot. We talked about how she stumbled upon the field of Cytotechnology and how it changed her life. We also chatted about how it can be difficult to balance home and life but with her awesome support system, she is able to make it happen. Keisha has earned MULTIPLE degrees and certifications. I am impressed with how dedicated she has been to acquiring education and skills. I was glad to hear that she is adjusting well to her new role as Master of Cytopathology Practice Degree Program Director at the University of TN Health Science Center in Memphis. Keisha also gave a very detailed but simple explanation of how Human Papilloma Virus plays a role in the progression of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions. If you are interested in learning more about the program that she heads, you can email her at kbrook13@uthsc.edu or call (901)-448-2718. You can also head to the UTHSC homepage and search Master of Cytopathology. I hope you got something from this episode. Thanks for listening.
First off, mindset shift...” it’s a privilege to be somebody’s mama.” A privilege. I will always remember that quote. I learned so much from the Working Mom’s Coach. Wow. SO much. Positive psychology is one of the things she introduced me too. I had never heard the term. The definition of positive psychology-the scientific study of what makes life worth living. Focusing on the positive. Instead of complaining about certain aspects of mommyhood, we should pivot to choosing happiness. Heavy. I love how Mrs. Robbie saw the need working moms have based on what she saw around her and through her own experiences. She created this coaching program to coach moms through the difficult times we have. I love how she said she gained some of the knowledge she has through education but she knew she wanted to use that knowledge, not to move up the corporate ladder herself, but to coach other working moms to achieve that goal. The Working Mom’s Coach helps her clients achieve the M.O.R.E. Factor M – Manage Mom Guilt O – Overcome being Overwhelmed R – Reassure them of their relevance, and go from E – Exhausted to Excited about life! I was glad she pointed out she helps moms in multiple aspects. She mentioned she coaches clients in relationship goals, financially, and spiritually, just to name a few. And I love how she said she starts her coaching calls with gratefulness. Yes, I'm just so full y’all. She offers 3 and 6-month coaching programs but with the current state of the world, she is offering a 4-week condensed option as well. She IS accepting new clients. In addition to positive psychology, another favorite resource of hers are works by Dr. Carolyn Leaf, a neuroscientist. You can find the working moms coach by visiting her website Workingmoms.coach On IG @the_working_moms_coach And if you want to just shoot her a quick email her email address is Workingmomscoach@gmail.com I hope you are just as full as I am after hearing this episode. If so, subscribe to the show and share this episode with a mom you know and love. All of them. Every and any mom could benefit from at least one of the gems available here. If you’re feeling extra full, leave a 5-star rating for the Super Cyto Girl podcast. Thanks! Love y’all. Until next time.

You can find her on IG @Vanieshamoore and Facebook at Vaniesha Moore.
Hey everyone! Here we are back to another Sunday. I don't know about you but during this crazy time, I'm happy to just be alive! I'm excited to present this episode to you. I love drawing strength and wisdom from other women. I was able to do exactly that as I sat and talked with Deidre Pryor of The Hygiene Chic. The Hygiene Chic is a Non-profit 501-C3 organization registered to the state of Tennessee. Deidre has the vision to teach youth girls of the midsouth about personal hygiene, period hygiene and self-love. To keep up with everything she is doing in the community, plug into her social media pages. She is on Facebook and Instagram as @thehygienechic. You can also reach her by email thehygienechic@gmail.com and by her website www.hygienechic.com If you would like to contribute to the cause you can reach Deidre by any of the above-mentioned methods. Thanks, Deidre for your service. The community of Memphis values you.
Hey yall. Thank you for stopping by to grab a listen to the episode this week. In the last episode, I talked about STD awareness month. In continued recognition of this cause, The Super Cyto Girl Podcast is featuring Jany Marti from Miami, Florida. She is sharing her cervical cancer journey with us. Almost 100% of the time, cervical cancer is caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). I originally spotted Jany on a YouTube video she posted entitled "Why you need to get your annual Pap smear-my cervical cancer journey." Jany is very matter-of-fact and knowledgable in her video. So much, in fact, I knew I wanted to feature her on the show. Jany has found purpose in her journey and hopes she can help other women achieve a different fate than she did. To keep up with Jany, you can follow her on IG @janymarti and YouTube by the same name. Until next time!
Hey yall. Happy Easter Sunday. I hope everyone is feeling great today. It's raining in Memphis but I'm blessed and in GREAT spirits. Thank you for tuning in this week. COVID 19 has literally taken over everyone's lives. As much as we try to focus on other things, the coronavirus is apart of our everyday existence whether we like it or not. I've been trying to stay level-headed and centered. In this week's episode, I talk about my first virtual therapy session and reviewing the book my therapist recommended. The book is entitled The Four Agreements. Every adult should read this book. It was truly a life-changer for me. I do plan on reading again. You can find the book here. April is STD awareness month. I did read somewhere that STD awareness month is normally geared toward pushing the importance of safe sex practices on teens and young adults. Truly, anyone who is sexually active needs to practice safe sex and a routine of getting tested. I spoke about HPV, the most common STD around, what tests are run on a women's health panel and why it's important to have a trusting relationship with your care provider. Thanks for stopping by!
Happy April Everyone! Thank you for stopping by the show this week. The world is so crazy right now! I admit in the beginning of all this madness with COVID 19, I was not worried. It seemed at the time the virus was contained to certain areas of the world. Slowly but surely, the numbers keep creeping up. I wish this wasn't happening. I wish we could contain it better. I'm concerned BUT still optimistic. This is hitting everyone-HARD. Everyone. My hope is that we are able to come together and flatten the line of individuals getting sick. I hope the economy doesn't suffer too badly. On a lighter note, I am trying out some new music for the podcast. I will be debuting a few beats made my Kenji Wells. Kenji is a devoted track coach and music maker. He is also undefeated in any beat battle competition he has ever entered. Check out his featured music in the next few weeks. We will pick the winning tune together. Check him out-Kenji Wells on Facebook. I am finishing up the discussion we started last week on hormones of the female reproductive tract. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The topic of sexual assault is so heavy. It's so hard for me to understand how we exist in a sex rich culture but we don't want to talk about the bad that comes along with sex-one of which being sexual assault. I shared a few thoughts about my own experience. It's sad that we live in a society where there is always backlash towards the victim. I wish there had been a different decision made concerning my case but sometimes in life bad things happen. I will not let that moment define me. If anyone has been a victim of sexual assault, The Me Too Movement has an awesome website with tons of amazing resources including a glossary. The website is metoomvmt.org; April is also Stress Awareness Month. I know we are living in a time that it is difficult not to stress. All the uncertainty can definitely be a distraction, but I urge you to commit to things that will keep your stress low. Self-care is a must. I shared some things I like to do for self-care to keep my stress low. Thank you all for stopping by and listening. Let me know what else is going on this month. Stop by my IG @Supercytogirl let's talk.
Hey yall. Happy Sunday. The world has been so crazy lately, no? Everything is all over the place. There's confusion, people are losing jobs and toilet paper is more valuable than diamonds right now! All I can do, is keep each and everyone one of you in my thoughts and prayers until this pandemic starts to subside. I hope you will do the same for me. In this week's episode of the Super Cyto Girl Podcast, we are discussing hormones that affect the Female Reproductive System. There are multiple hormones at play here but we will take things one step at a time. The goal is to keep the conversation about potentially confusing information as simple as possible. As I have grown as a scientist and person, I realize that we overcomplicate things way too much. Shoutout to all my college professors that made things way more complicated than they had to be. Yall are NOT the real MVPs. Most of the discussion will focus on Estrogen and progesterone. I hope you enjoy. Drop me line-find me on IG @supercytogirl and my personal page @vivac10uspinky. Love ya! This week features a special girl talk episode. We are talking about menstrual periods and period hygiene. This topic can be so taboo but who cares? This episode was so much fun to record. I learned a lot and had a good time with my friends while talking about such an important subject. Mentioned in this episode: -The Honey Pot Company -Diva Cup -Saalt Cup
I truly enjoyed this interview with Whitney Trotter who is the owner of Bluff City Health. Bluff City Health is a private practice designed to help individuals with eating disorders and disordered eating. Whitney stands apart and thrives in this field because she has clinical experience as a registered nurse and dietitian. She uses the knowledge she’s earned in each field and incorporates that into treatment plans for her clients. I hope you learn something from this episode.

Sometimes things don't work out the way you thought they would or should...BUT there are no bad decisions! No lost time! Only Lessons. I have been getting many questions about the status of my marriage. Although normally private, I have decided to make this episode to extinguish any and all questions about this matter. Hope this helps someone. Be true to you and don't allow people to tell your story for you. God Speed to all. I love yall. Mentioned in this episode-Toni Jones who created the affirmation album entitled Affirmations for the Grown Ass Woman. @iamtonijones on IG. Album can be found on Apple Music. This album drops gems to me daily!
