Keisha Lance Bottoms has served as senior advisor to former President Joe Biden, leading the transformation of the White House Office of Public Engagement, and acting as a liaison and media surrogate. Before joining the White House, she worked with CNN as a political commentator based in Atlanta, Georgia, where she served in all three branches of government, as judge, council member, and mayor. She is now running for governor and recently released her new memoir, The Rough Side of the Mountain. Keisha joins me for an inspiring conversation about her life, campaign, and overcoming challenges on the road to success. Got somethin' to say?! Ultra-busy and always informative and entertaining, this edition dives into the opening of the Morton Ampitheater, a bevy of new releases, anniversaries and birthdays, tributes and deep dives. All featuring Paul McCartney, Keisha, The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Summer Breeze, Brandi Carlile, Bo Diddley, The Killers, Tom Petty, Bill Murray, and many more. Come on along!
Last Thursday, WXIA-TV's Doug Richards reported on findings that showed a bit of a taxpayer cash corruption loop showing itself between Governor Brian Kemp and the Dooley family, where Brine influenced upwards of $27 million in school safety contracts, taking donations from Daniel Dooley and funneling it back to Daniel's brother Derek Dooley's Senate campaign. Meanwhile, Mike Collins had to cut ties (finally!) with Congressional staffer and campaign manager Brandon Phillips after a social media comment calling a Dooley staffer "Matt Lauer's sloppy seconds" and “a Yankee with poor judgment in women and GA politics.” That Dooley staffer - Brooke Nevils, came forward recently alleging being raped by former the former NBC and TODAY show host Matt Lauer and revealed attempting suicide afterwards.I mean, sure it's low, but Phillips LIVES "low." As Patricia Murphy pointed out in her AJC op/ed, Phillips has been involved in bar fights and dog-kicking allegations. He's scum, but he's popular GOP scum, having ties to GOP gubernatorial hopeful Rick Jackson and Rep. Clay Fuller from Georgia's 14th Congressional district, along with lieutenant gubernatorial hopeful Sen. Greg Dolezal. Meanwhile, the joint campaign appearance with former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Senator Jon Ossoff stood in stark contrast at the Tabernacle Sunday, giving both candidates an opportunity to tee off on those scandals and on the current state ot Trump 2.0. I have both speeches in the show to review.

Okay, Gia and Keisha are still trying to improve the sound quality--thank you for your feedback everyone. Now. How much worse can Curtis get? Michael is putting the pieces together, but will he be able to fix this whole BMW problem? Can anyone fix Curtis? And how about Willow and Sidwell? Is she terrified or impressed by him? Also, why isn't Lucas more scared of Sidwell? Plus, the Rocco situation needs to move along. On the positive side, Kai is becoming a stronger character, Molly and Cody are still a fun couple, and Gio is an all around good guy. #mauricebenard #kellythiebaud #rogerhowarth #maurawest #steveburton #delirious #barshampoo #daydrinkingwithsethmeyers #hillstreetblues #kinshriner #nicholaschavez #afterlife #rickygervais #hallandoates #superstore #freaksandgeeks #freefallin #alanarkin #newgirl #lamornemorris #colonoscopy #takethenap #alleymills #billylibby #chickadee #fortgorgeous #robertgossett #daydrinkingwithsethmeyers #marcuscoloma #useastaplegun #riptwitch #ripepiphany #ripsonyaeddy #waywardchickadee #barshampoo #ripmiffy #lovedogs #justinebateman #brookeshields #neilgaiman #dnice #cq #deborahcox #malcolmjamalwarner #lume #godzillaminusone #ripjacklynzeman #jasonmomoa #adambelanoff #thecloser #majorcrimes #wings #murphybrown #thecosbyshow #pinkalicious #ripbillymiller #ripmatthewperry #riptylerchristopher #riplesliecharleson #ripandrebraugher #ripjohnnywactor #dutchbarnvodka #chadduell #rickygervaisrobot #colinfromaccounts #ripanthonygeary

What happens when a church with 40 years of community roots partners with a real estate association on a mission to close the Black homeownership gap in Sacramento? You get a conversation like this one.In this episode of Selling Sacramento on KDEE 97.5 FM, host Keisha "Kee" Mathews — Director and Chair of Education for the Sacramento Realtist Association and Co-Chair of Legacy of Faith Community Development Corporation — welcomes Pastor Lamont Harris, Executive Pastor of Saint Paul Church of Sacramento.Pastor Harris has dedicated nearly four decades of his life to Saint Paul Church, serving under and alongside the late Rev. Ephraim Williams — the beloved community leader whose legacy lives on in the Dr. Ephraim Williams Family Life Center, the very venue that would host the 2026 Community Housing Fair just days after this episode aired. In this conversation, Kee and Pastor Harris discuss:• The evolution of Saint Paul Church — from St. Paul Baptist Church to Saint Paul Church of Sacramento and what that transformation represents for the community• Saint Paul Village and the Family Life Center — the programs, the people, and the vision for the neighborhood• The founding of Legacy of Faith Community Development Corporation — what a faith-based CDC can do that other organizations simply cannot• Why Saint Paul opened its doors to the 2026 Community Housing Fair and what it means when the Church says yes to the community• The future of the CDC and what this partnership model could mean for faith institutions across Sacramento and beyondKee also previews the 2026 SRA Community Housing Fair featuring The Blueprint Masterclass — presented by Columbia Bank and hosted by the Sacramento Realtist Association and Legacy of Faith CDC — sharing everything attendees can expect including four free expert-led sessions, a vendor marketplace, food trucks, live music from KDEE's own DJ Sam, and prize drawings including a 65-inch Big Screen TV.In Sacramento County today, Black homeownership stands at 30% compared to 59% for white residents. That gap did not happen by accident — and closing it requires exactly the kind of partnership, conviction, and community-centered leadership that Pastor Lamont Harris embodies. This episode is for anyone who believes that the door to homeownership should be open to everyone. And that the Church has a role to play in making sure it is.EPISODE DETAILS:• Show: Selling Sacramento• Station: KDEE 97.5 FM — The Voice of Black Sacramento• Air Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2026 | 1:00–2:00 PM• Host: Keisha "Kee" Mathews• Guest: Pastor Lamont Harris, Executive Pastor | Saint Paul Church of Sacramento• Topics: Faith-based community development, Black homeownership, Sacramento Realtist Association, Legacy of Faith CDC, Saint Paul Village, Community Housing Fair#SellingsSacramento #KDEE975 #DemocracyInHousing #BlackHomeownership #SacramentoRealtist #NAREB #LegacyOfFaithCDC #SaintPaulSacramento #CommunityHousingFair #BlueprintMasterclass #SacramentoRealEstate #GenerationalWealth #FaithAndCommunity #OwnItSacramento
Atlanta-based journalist George Chidi (The Atlanta Objective, The Guardian) penned a thorough Substack piece taking a deep dive into the 2026 Georgia Democratic primary - going way down the ballot to give voters as much information as needed.Plus, hear how he's intrinsically tied to the death of Secoriea Turner and how that still affects him to this day, and what that wrongful death case could mean to the Keisha Lance Bottoms campaign. Now that we know the results, it's kind of fun to listen back to, I suppose. Please do!

Well, Curtis may have been cool at one point, but he is not cool anymore. And Jordan sort of let this happen. Now, what will become of Isaiah? He was trying to be the better man, but where did that get him? Even the finest hand doctor may not be able to repair all the damage to his hand. And where does that leave Portia? She doesn't need two bitter men in her life. Meanwhile, Anna is in big trouble, but no one seems to have figured out why--although Joss is getting close. Will Nathan and Joss join forces? Will Nina begin to refer to Jack as her boyfriend? Will Elizabeth stick with Ric? Lots of stuff going on! Also, shout out to Emma for making Gia and Keisha cry. #mauricebenard #kellythiebaud #rogerhowarth #maurawest #steveburton #delirious #barshampoo #daydrinkingwithsethmeyers #hillstreetblues #kinshriner #nicholaschavez #afterlife #rickygervais #hallandoates #superstore #freaksandgeeks #freefallin #alanarkin #newgirl #lamornemorris #colonoscopy #takethenap #alleymills #billylibby #chickadee #fortgorgeous #robertgossett #daydrinkingwithsethmeyers #marcuscoloma #useastaplegun #riptwitch #ripepiphany #ripsonyaeddy #waywardchickadee #barshampoo #ripmiffy #lovedogs #justinebateman #brookeshields #neilgaiman #dnice #cq #deborahcox #malcolmjamalwarner #lume #godzillaminusone #ripjacklynzeman #jasonmomoa #adambelanoff #thecloser #majorcrimes #wings #murphybrown #thecosbyshow #pinkalicious #ripbillymiller #ripmatthewperry #riptylerchristopher #riplesliecharleson #ripandrebraugher #ripjohnnywactor #dutchbarnvodka #chadduell #rickygervaisrobot #colinfromaccounts #ripanthonygeary

In this episode of Selling Sacramento, host Keisha "Kee" Mathews is joined by three powerhouses who are doing the real work of moving Sacramento's community toward homeownership, financial stability, and generational wealth.Against the backdrop of the Supreme Court's recent decision to gut Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, Kee makes the case that economic power is the community's most powerful response — and that homeownership is democracy in action.Guests include Pedar Bruce, VP and Community Impact Lending Officer at Columbia Bank; Serina Lowden, President of the Sacramento Realtist Association; and Zoritha Thompson, Housing Fair Committee Co-Chair and Sacramento real estate powerhouse.Together they discuss what Community Impact Lending really means, the history and mission of NAREB and the Realtist movement, the real barriers standing between Sacramento families and homeownership — and exactly what the Community Housing Fair featuring The Blueprint Masterclass is doing about it.What you will hear in this episode:Why the Voting Rights Act decision makes homeownership more urgent than everWhat makes a Realtist different from a RealtorWhat programs and resources are available RIGHT NOW for first-time buyersHow to get a free credit action plan from Blue Water CreditWhat to expect at the Community Housing Fair on May 16thThe Community Housing Fair feat. California just passed the most consequential reform to its environmental review process in over five decades — and three other housing bills moving through the Capitol this year will change how Californians buy, rent, own, and inherit property. During Legislative Week, the California Association of REALTORS® and the California Association of Real Estate Brokers — the state arm of NAREB — converged on Sacramento to walk their priorities into legislator offices. Agent Kee takes you inside what happened, what passed, and what's still moving. In this episode, we break down four pieces of legislation every owner, renter, builder, and advocate should know:• SCR 89 — California's commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, grounded in the constitutional tradition• AB 670 — Housing preservation toward RHNA, with new accountability on demolition and replacement• AB 130 and SB 131 — The largest CEQA reform in over 50 years, already in effect• SB 1155 — Tenant protection for federal employees and contractors during a government shutdownPlus: the difference between the C.A.R. and CAREB legislative agendas, what these bills mean for Sacramento neighborhoods like Oak Park and Del Paso Heights, and the three concrete actions every listener can take this week.Selling Sacramento is hosted by Keisha "Kee" Mathews — broker, real estate economist, and owner of Mathews & Co. Plus Carolyn Bourdeau's seems to dislike her party's gerrymandering response; why? And FRIDAY FUNNIES w/Sterling ThrillNew - and shocking - Democratic gubernatorial polling shows Keisha Lance Bottoms mightn't need worry about a run-off. The Insider Advantage polling of 800 likely Georgia voters (likely split in half by party affiliation but they gave us no in tabs) has Bottoms netting 52% of likely Democratic party voters with only 14% undecided - meaning if correct, there'd be no run-off. It also shows a neck-and-neck race for the GOP nod with Rick "the ick" Jackson and Burt Jones but Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger actually within striking distance and few undecideds there, too. I'm skeptical. - - - Meanwhile, Democrat and former Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux didn't race to pen an op/ed when Trump coaxed mid-decade gerrymanders in red states but is now bemoaning it all now that Democrats have responded. She, Joe Manchin & Kyrsten Sinema should gather for a meal or something. PLUS: my Friday Funnies therapy sesh with good friend, comedian Sterling Thrill.

Gia and Keisha are ready for Joss to talk about something other than an old book and a pack of smokes. But, maybe now that she has harassed Valentin and Dante, progress will be made on the Anna front and the Cullum front. Meanwhile, Britt is freaking out! And is she getting her meds? On July 24th, 2011, just days before her 18th birthday, 17-year-old Ne'Keisha “Keisha” Hodges-Hawkins was at a party in Krueger Memorial Park in Michigan City, Indiana, when gunfire broke out in a crowd of more than 100 people. Keisha was struck and killed, and despite the number of witnesses, no one initially came forward with information. For years, the case remained unsolved… until Keisha's father began searching for answers himself, turning to social media to push for justice and uncover the truth about what happened that night. This episode is sponsored by:Perelel: new customers can enjoy 20% off their first order with code TCKR at perelelhealth.comWhatnot: download the Whatnot app today and get free shipping on your first order. PLUS: It's DOJ/FBI vs ... the SPLC?A recent poll pitted former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms against the four GOP gubernatorial combatants, and in each case, she comes out on top. No other Democratic candidate was polled, but there's more recent polling that shows she's safely in "run-off" territory and only 8% from clearing it outright in the primary, too. It's curious, though, that the remaining Democratic gubernatorial field elbows one another for second place while almost never taking aim at the frontrunner. Meanwhie, Rick Jackson has and does.- -- The Trump FBI & DOJ unveiled a 'slew of criminal charges' against the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). Long before she became Atlanta's mayor, a CNN political commentator, and senior advisor to President Joe Biden, Keisha Lance Bottoms was simply a daddy's girl from Atlanta's west side—talkative, outgoing, and shaped by a big, loving Southern family that taught her confidence and resilience. In her powerful new memoir, The Rough Side of the Mountain, Keisha takes us on a deeply personal journey of excavation. After years of sanding down her story for political success—hiding her father's drug abuse and prison time, her own experiences with sexual abuse and an eating disorder, and the beautifully unpolished truth of her family—she realized something was missing. In her early fifties, she stepped back from the grind and chose to reclaim every part of herself she once thought she had to leave behind. This is a heartfelt celebration of unmasking, authenticity, and the joy of showing up fully. Through raw stories and hard-won lessons from her kinfolk, Keisha shows how the roughest chapters become the strongest foundation for leadership, purpose, and real resilience. Tune in for an inspiring conversation about embracing your full story and spreading the powerful message that you don't have to hide who you are to rise.https://keishalancebottoms.com/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/i-am-refocused-radio--2671113/support.Subscribe now at YouTube.com/@RefocusedNetworkThank you for your time.
If you've been in HR long enough, you know this feeling. We're getting into the moment that changed how she saw this job forever, what happens when you advocate for the right thing and leadership responds with escalation instead of accountability, and why courage isn't optional in HR, even when the org makes it feel that way. Hello to my friends and loyal listening populous via the interwebs. Welcome to Birds Come Home, what would effectively serve as the newest installment from your favorite C-List internet disc jockey. This weekend was RSD. Record Store Day for you absolute lames out there. I had it in mind all day but I didn't set up a lawn chair on the sidewalk or pitch a tent at the store. I had other extremely important plans that superseded my need to pitch a tent at a record store. I was busy advancing my position in the Pokemon realm. My game is undeniable at this point. More game than an arcade. I did make it to the record store with an hour to spare before close. I didn't leave with anything particular to RSD but I did leave with a sealed copy of Fred Again's Actual Life 2, which has been at that record shop in the same spot for a while now. I was waiting for an extremely tasteful local individual to pick it up. I was secretly hoping to look for it one of these times and find someone had bought it. That someone was me on RSD. A nice memory. This was a nice episode to me, I can't really pick a favorite part because most of it wasn't half bad. Maybe the Isley Bros on 45 take the cake with That Lady because of how distorted and synthed out the guitars sound on my copy. Thank you as always for lending me your ears and trusting my musical taste. Insider baseball, we're actually doing it Keisha. Checked recent stats and we're building in numbers. It's been around 4 years but finally seeing some growth. Almost 700 downloads this month and I'm extremely grateful and fired up about it. Serious thank you to whoever clicks on these things. Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Beyond the Numbers, Kevin Hecht sits down with Keisha Wilkinson, Senior Policy Representative for Valuation at the National Association of Realtors (NAR), to unpack one of the most important—and often misunderstood—relationships in real estate: appraisers and agents. With over a decade of experience at Fannie Mae and now working on the front lines of policy and advocacy, Keisha shares how valuation policy is shaped, how legislation impacts appraisers, and why communication between professionals is more critical than ever. From breaking down common misconceptions (yes, agents can talk to appraisers) to exploring major legislative efforts like the Appraisal Industry Improvement Act and Appraisal Modernization Act, this conversation dives into the real forces driving change in the industry.
Hello once again to my loyal listening populous across the internet. Welcome to what would effectively serve as the most recent melancholy musical installment presented by Tremendous Opinions Podcast. Heavy with the slowed and throwed this week. I have no clue why Be Yourself and Solo aren't sequential on the Blonde album. The sudden stark contrast is beautiful. That's why I blast them B2B all the time if there was anybody out there wondering. Keisha, to get further in depth about the UNC hire.. Last week before anybody even said Michael Malone's name I was having a conversation at work. Out of nowhere I said "You know who I really like?? ... Mike Malone from Denver". I randomly remembered Malone and didn't consider him as a real possibility. I really do like and believe in Mike Malone. That being said, I'm still out. Out of respect for Hubert Davis and what is right. I reluctantly hand in my fandom resignation letter to the UNC basketball program. I will remain a fan of the football program for now because I saw Randy Moss was at their practice today. Who cares anymore. Relocate the Dean Dome. Name it something else and reallocate the building use it for a bird sanctuary or an indoor pickle ball extravaganza. Build a whole new arena 40 minutes off campus, let's name it the Hasbeen Center and let's do everything in our power to break the longstanding tradition of excellence and moral obligation of this beautiful history filled organization. Let's leave it in ruins. The great Lenny Rosenbluth passed away and I don't feel too good myself. God bless Michael Malone best of luck but I wash my hands of this nonsense. I know he was an assistant coach to God Shamgod's run to the Final Four with Providence. I UNDERSTAND THAT. I understand that he was the offensive architect for LeBron's Cavaliers years. What I also understand is that I was force fed the Carolina Family thing my whole life. I bought into it and I will refuse to bow to this foreigner from the north. I humbly resign. I'll be here next week. Keep rocking in the free world, KeishaYour Host with the Most,Trill Belichick
Windermere Coaching Minute Hosted by Michael Fanning | Windermere CoachingEpisode: A Communication Commitment to YouMost agents think referrals come from closing deals. They don't. They come from how your clients felt during the process and that feeling is built on one thing: communication. In this episode, Michael Fanning walks you through a resource developed by Windermere Coaching called the Communication Commitment to You a guide you can use in your buyer and seller consultations to set clear expectations, reduce client anxiety, and build the kind of trust that generates referrals for years to come. What You'll Learn in This Episode:The Science Behind Communication and TrustMichael breaks down the research including Anxiety Uncertainty Management Theory and studies on psychological safety that explains why silence in a transaction doesn't just inconvenience clients, it activates their negativity bias. When clients don't hear from you, their brains fill the silence with worst-case scenarios. Consistent, proactive communication is how you stop that cycle.Three Real-World ScenariosMichael walks through three composite stories drawn from nearly three decades inside the Windermere ecosystem:Sandra, the widow selling her family home and what "nothing serious yet" cost her agentJason and Keisha, first-time buyers who spent six days convinced their deal was falling apartDavid's buyers, blindsided by a competing offer they never saw comingEach story shows what communication breakdown looks like in real time and exactly what to say instead. The Red-Yellow-Green Triage SystemNot every client message is an emergency but some absolutely are. Michael introduces a simple framework to help clients (and you) categorize conversations:

PLUS: Thurmond's endorsement gets: plums or prunes? Also, Keisha's list was ... something to see & Esteves' list is long.- -- Coming off a third - and impressive - 'No Kings Day' weekend, it was in listening to (marveling at) Rev. Senator Raphael Warnock deliver a "no notes" speech in Atlanta Saturday that somehow aligned well against the faux religiosity on display at CPAC on the same weekend. The emergence of James Talarico in Texas has Christian nationalism freaking out like "The Wizard" once the curtain was pulled back. Which brings me to my guest today: April Ajoy, author (Star-Spangled Jesus: Leaving Christian Nationalism and Finding a True Faith), content creator, influencer, and ex-Christian nationalist, joined me to share her exodus from right wing evangelism, which began about the time Trump descended down the golden escalator. - - - IN the second half of the show (44:35) Mike Thurmond's two "gets" - former governor Roy Barnes & former Atlanta mayor & UN ambassador Andrew Young - got a lot of media & social media coverage over the weekend, but are they significant? Also, who on Keisha Lance Bottoms' campaign staff let public her endorsement page in a completely unfinished template form? Jason Esteves, meanwhile, has a substantial list of Democratic state legislators. Of course, Geoff Duncan got press for picking up prominent Black male nods, too. - - - A WSB-TV story focusing on the north Atlanta v south Atlanta economic divide isn't just an "Atlanta story;" it's playing out in cities of any substantial size just about everywhere in the U.S. Thought I'd chew on it a bit.- - - A 'No Kings Day' walk-off in Macon concerns me. Sure, a local sheriff was allowed to speak and his department works in coordination with ICE, but A) that's mandated by state law and B) he came to NKD/Macon looking to engage, so shouldn't we? - - - It seems pretty clear MAGA has lost Joe Rogan. Joe zeroed in on the war / Wall Street grift. - - - Back under the Gold Dome, the 'zombie bill' Senator Greg Dolezal crafted to put onerous burdens on local elections officials and pursue hand-marked paper ballots by fall passed the Senate and now sits in the House. What'll happen to it, there, I wonder?

Holy Moly! The drama! And some great performances! From Lucas and Sidwell and Ava to Jason and Danny and Britt and Rocco and Lulu, not to mention Alexis and Tracy, Carly and Valentin, Joss, and Ric and Sonny--everyone is bringing it this week. It's been quite exhausting, to be honest. Emotionally. Physically. Gia and Keisha need a drink! Or a nap. What will happen next? Let's hope something begins to break Britt's way. And let's hope Lucas can find some peace somehow. Great programs are built by coaches who understand that basketball is about more than plays and scoreboards. It's about relationships, trust, and creating an environment where players grow both on and off the court. In this episode of SportsLifeTalk – You Got Next, we sit down with Keisha Newell, head women's basketball coach at Oakland University, to talk about her journey through the game, the lessons that shaped her coaching philosophy, and the vision she has for building a winning culture with the Golden Grizzlies.Newell's basketball story began long before she ever stepped onto a college sideline. Growing up in Michigan, the game became a central part of her life early on. Like many players, basketball first started as something fun — a way to compete, challenge herself, and connect with others. But as the years went on, the game became something more meaningful. It became purpose. Her playing career eventually led her to Oakland University, where she built a reputation as a relentless competitor and leader. As a player, Newell understood that winning requires more than talent. It requires discipline, sacrifice, and the ability to stay committed even when things get difficult. Those lessons stayed with her long after her playing days ended. After finishing her career, Newell transitioned into coaching — a path that allowed her to stay connected to the game while helping develop the next generation of athletes. Over the years, she gained experience at multiple levels of college basketball, learning from respected coaches and building her own identity as a leader.Every stop along the way helped shape the coach she is today.Newell believes that culture is the foundation of any successful program. Systems and strategies matter, but the real difference comes from the environment that a coaching staff creates. When players trust each other, hold one another accountable, and believe in a shared vision, teams are capable of achieving far more than anyone expects. That mindset is exactly what she is working to build at Oakland.Taking over as head coach of the Golden Grizzlies women's basketball program, Newell stepped into a role that requires both patience and vision. Rebuilding and strengthening a program doesn't happen overnight, but she approaches the challenge with confidence and clarity. Her focus is simple.Develop players.Strengthen relationships.Build a culture of accountability. And compete every single day.Newell is also deeply committed to preparing her athletes for life beyond basketball. She believes that college athletics should develop leadership, resilience, and character — traits that will serve players long after their playing careers end.For her, success isn't measured only in wins. It's measured in growth.Off the court, Newell brings the same authenticity and energy that she brings to her team. She values family, community, and the relationships that basketball creates. Those connections have helped guide her throughout her journey, and they continue to influence how she leads today. As the Oakland program continues to evolve under her leadership, Newell remains focused on the bigger picture: building something sustainable, competitive, and meaningful for the players who wear the Golden Grizzlies jersey.Because in the end, the goal isn't just to compete. It's to build a program that players are proud to be part of.And under Coach Keisha Newell, Oakland women's basketball is working toward exactly that future.
The Rick Jackson v Burt Jones ad wars had been entertaining for those of us outside Burt Jones campaign HQ for a while now, but if we take a moment to study it all further, to note that - according to an email chain obtained by the AJC (I'm guessing Burt Jones' folks provided it) - Jackson baited Burt into taping a complimentary video using a foster children's charity to lure him in last fall, does it not give you what the young people call "the ick?" Meanwhile, stating the obvious, Burt Jones has now publicly said he believes Jackson is the source of all the money being 'Georgians for Integrity' attack ads targeting him. Friend of the show Keith McCants' latest Peanut Politics blog brings up a good point: Before the GOP Tests Keisha Lance Bottoms, Democrats Better Do It FirstHe's not wrong. As I've noted for a week plus now, the race for "second place" is on, as if the Democratic gubernatorial combatants have conceded the former Atlanta mayor will finish in position to be in a potential run-off. Keith's wondering why none of those candidates are taking shots at Bottoms while the current GOP front-runner - Rick Jackson - is.

Hello to my loyal listening audience around the globe and welcome to my newest vinyl listening experience via the inter webs. Another master mix of somewhat modern melancholy musical choices. The Weeknd live at the Mod Club in 2011 is really something but I believe my favorite slice of this episode is the chopped and screwed portion of Child's Play. I've made video edits to that particular chopped and slopped version. Earlier today I fought off the masses and braved the elements in extreme efforts to expand my Pokemon portfolio. With no cash in hand, I entered the conference floor quipped with not but 7 Phantasmal Flames hanger packs that I scouted at my local Dollar General over the weekend. Using them and my charisma as ammo, I managed to hold until I found the perfect scenario. An old unassuming binder on a Vendor's table suddenly turned from an extremely ordinary book into a paradise for my eyes. Mid 2000's era bangers that most likely haven't been price checked since the Obama admin. I picked out what was agreed upon to be fair, clutched my new cards, turned around and smiled like a James Bond villain all the way to the car. I'm on fire, Keisha. Enough of my non sensible ramblings about the inner workings of a middle aged Pokemon master. I hope some human being out there somewhere enjoys the episode.. Gia has a bone to pick with the people writing horse-related dialogue. Keisha does not. Both Gia and Keisha do have a problem with the way Jordan and Portia are not allowed to grow as women, at least when it comes to their dealings with each other. Maxie and Lulu seem to be moving past the hand wringing and hurt feelings, which is good. Brook Lynn and Chase might need a little guidance. Or an intervention. And Sonny and Jason are back to talking about killing people, so at least they haven't forgotten who they are. #mauricebenard #kellythiebaud #rogerhowarth #maurawest #steveburton #delirious #barshampoo #daydrinkingwithsethmeyers #hillstreetblues #kinshriner #nicholaschavez #afterlife #rickygervais #hallandoates #superstore #freaksandgeeks #freefallin #alanarkin #newgirl #lamornemorris #colonoscopy #takethenap #alleymills #billylibby #chickadee #fortgorgeous #robertgossett #daydrinkingwithsethmeyers #marcuscoloma #useastaplegun #riptwitch #ripepiphany #ripsonyaeddy #waywardchickadee #barshampoo #ripmiffy #lovedogs #justinebateman #brookeshields #neilgaiman #dnice #cq #deborahcox #malcolmjamalwarner #lume #godzillaminusone #ripjacklynzeman #jasonmomoa #adambelanoff #thecloser #majorcrimes #wings #murphybrown #thecosbyshow #pinkalicious #ripbillymiller #ripmatthewperry #riptylerchristopher #riplesliecharleson #ripandrebraugher #ripjohnnywactor #dutchbarnvodka #chadduell #rickygervaisrobot #colinfromaccounts #ripanthonygeary

Sisters in Loss Podcast: Miscarriage, Pregnancy Loss, & Infertility Stories
Black mothers in America often navigate a path layered with anxiety, fear, and concerns for their own wellness in a system that has too often failed them. This book captures that complex reality—where the intersection of race, gender, and motherhood brings both obstacles and profound moments of joy. Yet, amid every challenge, these mothers find strength, beauty, and grace as they push through to the other side. With images from past and present and heartfelt stories, Moms In Focus reveals the diversity of Black motherhood, shattering stereotypes and showing that it is anything but a monolith. Each mother's journey is a story of transformation, whether through navigating infertility, enduring grief, altering generational curses, adjusting to change or embracing mental health support. Just as a lotus blooms from the mud, these mothers rise, reminding us that even during trying times, there is an extraordinary beauty in Pushing Thru. In today's episode I sit down with Keisha and RaQuita who are phenomenal women in their own right, trailblazers in their respective fields. This one is personal because I knew and worked alongside Trooper Chadwick LeCroy when I was an Atlanta Police Officer. Chad and I served together in Zone 2, and later I had the privilege of working with him when he joined the elite Georgia State Patrol Nighthawks DUI Task Force. He was one of the good ones – the kind of officer you wanted backing you up, the kind of man who made the badge mean something. On December 27th, 2010, Chad was murdered during what should have been a routine traffic stop. He pulled over a broken taillight on Bolton Road in northwest Atlanta. The driver was Gregory Favors, a thirty-year-old career criminal with eighteen prior arrests and ten felony convictions. Favors fled, crashed his car, and when Chad approached on foot – without drawing his weapon – Favors fired three shots through the passenger window. One bullet struck Chad in the neck. He died in the ambulance on the way to Grady Memorial Hospital. But here's what makes this case so infuriating: Gregory Favors should have been locked up. He'd been arrested just seventeen days earlier and was out on a nineteen-thousand-dollar bond despite pretrial services recommending he be held without bail. Three times in 2010, the system said he was too dangerous to release. Three times, judges ignored those recommendations. On the morning Chad was killed, Favors missed his court hearing. He should have been in jail, but instead he was free to murder a good man. The investigation was swift – dashboard camera footage captured everything. Favors stole Chad's patrol car, dumped it on Gun Club Road, and was arrested by Atlanta PD officers. After nearly four years of legal proceedings, he pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty and received life without parole plus fifty-five years.Chad LeCroy was the first Georgia State Trooper killed by gunfire in thirty-five years. He left behind his wife Keisha, sons Bret and Chase, and a law enforcement family that still feels his loss. In this powerful episode, Laura is joined by Dr. Keisha Bentley-Edwards, Associate Professor at Duke University's School of Medicine and Co-Director of Duke CTSI Center for Research, Community Engagement, Social Impact and Trust (CREST Center), for a timely conversation on rethinking resilience. Inspired by Dr. Bentley-Edwards' article "I Am Not (Your) Superwoman, Black Girl Magic, or Beautiful Struggle: Rethinking the Resilience of Black Women and Girls," this episode explores the cultural narratives that celebrate Black women's strength while often ignoring the profound physical, emotional, and psychological costs of relentless resilience. Together, Laura and Keisha unpack the tensions between pride in endurance, cultural expectations like the "Strong Black Woman," and the growing body of research showing how these narratives contribute to health inequities across the lifespan. Dr. Bentley-Edwards offers insight into how expectations of resilience often begin in childhood for Black girls, shaping adult experiences of stress, coping, and wellbeing. The conversation moves beyond critique toward possibility—imagining models of resilience that center sustainable wellness, community care, and structural accountability, rather than individual endurance alone. Dr. Bentley-Edwards also reflects on what Black women can do in service of themselves and Black girls, and what we must collectively demand from systems, institutions, and leaders. Anchored in Season 8's theme, "Leaning Into Joy," this episode invites listeners to consider how joy, rest, alignment, and community are not indulgences, but essential counterweights to harmful expectations of strength. About Dr. Keisha Dr. Keisha Bentley-Edwards is an Associate Professor at Duke University's School of Medicine and Co-Director of Duke CTSI Center for Research, Community Engagement, Social Impact and Trust (CREST Center). She is also the Associate Director of Research for the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity. She is the Chair of the Society for Research in Child Development's Black Caucus. Her research emphasizes cultural strengths, including religiosity, and eliminating structural barriers to support healthy development in communities, families, and students, and in birth outcomes. Her research has been supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, IBM, and the National Institutes of Health. Allie sits down with Colorado high school senior Sophia Shumaker and First Liberty attorney Keisha Russell after Sophia's Bible-verse parking spot was censored. When the school banned “religious imagery,” Sophia painted a subtle backward fish — then fought back with First Liberty's help. The district caved, changed the policy, and let her repaint it with her original design, which includes the Bible verse 1 Corinthians 13:4. This is a powerful reminder to be bold in your faith no matter your stage in life or occupation, be that a student or lawyer. Courage is contagious!
